    Why are textures so bad?

I am about 2 hours into this game and I am relaly enjoying the combat, story, parkour and even graphics, they are mostly beautiful. But I am not impressed with the textures. It seems that black flag had better textures. Also, I am guessing this will get patched soon, but buildings in the distance are very blurry and jaggy.

MSI 970, and I swear black flag had better, more detailed textures.

Yeah, the draw distance and pop-ins are pretty bad, as well. It's almost as bad as AC:2.

Luckily, the aesthetics and art designs make up for it. It's gorgeous!

Something must be wrong with your configuration. Here are some 1440p screenshots that I took on my PC, maxed out:

As you can see, texture resolution and draw distance are both top notch for a game this massive..

Once you set your texture detail setting, you need to restart the game for it to take effect. Maybe that's it?

That one's not top-notch. Beautiful shots, btw.

Those really are beutiful. I will play some more and report again. I think the problem is when you look at things up close, they are just not as detailed as black flag. I am using max settings (fxaa/high shadows, rest ultra) and 16x af from nvidia control panel.

Well this game is a whole lot bigger than Black Flag remember. Then if your native monitor resolution is low, then the textures won't look as nice either. One thing, if your brightness is set too high, it can wash out the texture quality a bit..

I had the brightness set to 4 in those screenshots.

Not everyone has 2x 970's like you but I am still running 1080p here!

I will lower my brightness though, I think that might make it more cinematic.
