    I've been playing IL-2/FB for over a year and I used to fly Bf109 a lot in the IL-2 because there was no over-heating problem.

    However, I tried quite a few times to fly the Bf109G and K-4 in FB and always got engine over-heating problem and as a result, the performance of the BF109 suffered considerable.
    I'm flying La7s only and sometimes FW190s. But I really want to get back to Bf109s.

    A few helpful guys on the forum told me I should use 99% on auto. I did it but the performance of the plane is not good. I wonder if I should use manual engine management settings. Would somebody walk me through the procedures for engine management?

    Settings for take-off, climbing, turn and fight, BnZ, etc. What's manual prop pitch? How does it work with engine management?

    Please explain it to me. BTW, are there any good websites where I can find info. on engine management and manual prop pitch control?

    hmm your nick should be "wanna-be-bf109ace"

    WEP (MW 50) engage/switch off when the throttle is bellow 50%, otherwise you will destroy your engine quickly.
    You can fly all the time on auto. Switch to manual is needed in cases of stallfighting, e.g. you are trying to outspiralclimb the enemy bellow you, but then take care and donâ´t go with rpm over 2800 otherwise you will fry the engine again.
    No supercharger switching or mix adjustment is needed.
    Fully open flaps will take you up to 50kph of speed (at max speed) and at least 2m/s of climb, so fly with open flaps into the battle and in the battle manage the flaps not to overheat the engine for too long. Bf109 is not Spitfire or Lavochkin in that regard.

    It is very easy.

    Turn on MW50 before take off.

    Leave throttle at 105% with Raditator open. This setting can be used until you run out of fuel.

    105% with radiator open is slower than just 100% with radiator closed.

    Like Jurinko said, its an airbrake. No good comes of the radiator flaps in combat.

    Haha, that is utter and total bullcr@p. In fact radiator flaps appears to be making absolutely no difference (maybe 5-10km/h).

    I did a simple test in QBM, 105% with MW50 and radiators open = accelerated to 480 km/h in 33 seconds. Now with 100% and radiators closed it took 58 seconds to reach the same speed. Top speed is also about 40-50 km/h lower at 100% with radiators closed than 105% with radiators open. All in all there is very, very little reason to ever have flaps in anything but open (maybe to protect the engine from hits/flak but I doubt that is even modeled correctly in the game).

    Test made with K4 and I can only assume it's exactly the same with every other 109.

    Simply let radlfaps on close/auto at 100% power all the time (and MW50 from 0% power till landing) except of combat time, then you can go up to 110% for short time (but throttle back to 100% ASAP).

    Most of my flights I could have radiator on auto .
    I fly on about 100% throttle when climbing to altitude over my airfield and then about 80% throttle on the way out. on enemy territory about90-95% throttle. In most combats I havent had the need to go over 95% mor than occasionally and lately I havent used boost at all ( it was used only 1-2 mins at a time)

    If I for some reason have overheated I open radiator fully, and Like hart-dreyer I havent noticed any decrease in speed because of it(dont affect combat anyway).

    I fly with auto-proppitch (most late 109 pilots seemingly did) and I also throttle down in descents or dives or when I go into clouds.

    Cant even remember when I had an overheat problem last.
