Most likely in the fourth quarter this year, but, given that most games tend to run behind schedule to some extent (unless your EA), it could even be first quarter 2008.

    Alloy,

The 2 WEEKS remark is an ongoing joke in these forums. When the release of a patch is imminant a lot of us get antsy waiting for the release.
Soooooooooooo the typical joke is TWO WEEKS.

Oleg was the first to use said comment when detailing the release date of one of the early IL2 patches, but the patch wasn't released for some time, and now when we are expecting anything...(including BoB) we joke by saying 2 WEEKS.

I'm not so much concerned by its exact release date , but I am a little nuts over what kind of PC requirements it will take.I'd like to replace my aging PC now in order to play this sim a bit better, with higher graphic settings & FPS but I don't dare buy anything new until Oleg gives us what BoB will require ...does anyone have a clue? I understand the PCU setup will be one of the critical features...

The last thing Oleg said was that it will be "released when ready, but no later than the end of the year".
Mind you, after that he hasn't been seen. Rumours have it that he was observed at the casino in Constanta .

I know this is way off but has Oleg et al considered the compatibility of BOB with the upcoming Vista?

I should imagine so being as driectx 10 is vista only

Good news though - directx10 games will run on a version called driectx9L that will be a bridge for people who cant upgrade their systems to be x10 compatible although you will ultimately have to if you want to continue playing new releases.

    Regards,
    Val

Oleg has stated that the CPU will be very important (and ultimately the GPU). The best CPU to use for BoB probably isn't even available yet nor is the GPU although there are some really good ones out right now. Will a quad core be best? Or Quad SLI? What about a PPU? At this point who knows. We all have very much time before we need to worry about buying that new PC for BoB. Oleg will let us know what we need when he is comfortable in telling us for sure. And that will only happen in the Beta stage at the earliest. If you remember there are a lot of things that Oleg isn't even going to use in the engine until the Beta stage such as self shadowing and all of the different tree types for the forests. Until then he may not even know what kind of performance hit to expect on even the highest end machines available right now.
