    All,

Does anybody have a reference to the USN tests done in 1945-6 on a series of fighter types, including a P-47D that achieved 440 mph at 64" boost? I'm trying to find a reference for the type of R-2800 engine used at that boost.

It sounds like an over-boosted B series engine (probably a -59), since the C series could run at 72" boost at WEP anyway. I am interested in what would have to be done to allow the B types to run 8" over their normal WEP boost of 56".

Does anybody have anything on these tests, or something similar?

    cheers,
    Ratsack

I'm going to use this topic to ask semi-OT question. Is drag modelled for those bomb racks on late P47D even when you don't take the bombs with you?
