Anybody else read "Duels in the sky" by Eric Brown? (ISBN 1-85310-046-3)

Brown was a top Royal Navy test pilot (apparently holds world record for most types of 'plane flown) and combat pilot in WWII. He wrote everal books on aircraft, discussing the aircraft and what it was like to fly them. "Duels in the Sky" - "World War II Naval Aircraft in Action" is particularly interesting for PF. He describes the various aircraft in each theatre of WWII in different phases of the war, and how he believes they would fare/compare in combat. At the end gives his view of top ten and final greatest naval aircraft in various categories (fighter, dive bomber, torpedo bomber etc) An interesting read, given he had flown many/most of them and was a combat pilot himself. Out of print, but some copies are out there secondhand. His other books are excellent also.

Have several of "Winkle" Brown's other books. Always interesting and usefull for insights, though I cann'a always agree with some of his bias/conclusions. Given his experience they certainly offer an insight that isn't often presented.

"Testing for Combat" and "Wings of the Navy" are worthwile as well.
