Assassin's Creed - Titan Comics - Story Analysis & Discussion (Spoilers)

(Warning: Full spoilers follows for all Titan Comics lines)

The Titan Comics currently covers seven products, with one comic solely focused on the Assassins, another the Templars, a spin off of the Last Descendants brand, a Black Flag manga adaptation, one focused on the Phoenix Project, another providing new tales of our beloved old game protagonists, and finally one connected to Assassin's Creed Origins. The comics are confirmed as canon, with the stories heavily influenced by Ubisoft, and Titan seemingly having access to the future Modern Day story of the series. To this end, the comics are being seen as a story bridge for fans until the next game comes around. If you are a fan of the Modern Day portion, you are highly recommended to pick the comics up, as they already contain characters from the games; such as Galina Voronina, Otso Berg, Violet da Costa, Ezio Auditore, and Evie Frye.

The Titan Comics lines thus far, and featured in this thread are:

    Assassin's Creed - Assassins
    Assassin's Creed - Templars
Assassin's Creed - Last Descendants Locus
    Assassin's Creed - Awakening
    Assassin's Creed - Reflections
    Assassin's Creed - Uprising
    Assassin's Creed - Origins

Below is brief story summary of each of the issues released so far. I'll endeavour to update it as new issues are released and I read them. Analysis follows on the first reply.

    Assassin's Creed: Assassins

The Assassins series focuses on Charlotte de la Cruz and her induction into the Brotherhood.

    Story Summary by Issue

    Issue 1:

    Modern Day:

September 2015. The comic opens with Charlotte playing on a Helix system, evidently in 1852 California - perhaps a nod to all of the Wild West rumours.

Charlotte works in Malta Banking Corporation, San Diego. After discovering injustice within the system, she manipulates figures to help a customer in need.

When she returns home, she finds Galina Voronina and Xavier Chen in waiting. A regular to conspiracy websites, she instantly knows who they are. The Templars burst in, but after a struggle our heroes escape.

It is explained that the Brotherhood knows that Charlotte has Assassin heritage, and she is persuaded to climb into an Animus to search for a Piece of Eden in 1692 Salem. Intel on this time period was obtained by an Assassin called Joseph, who is apparently now being held by the Templars.

Charlotte's ancestor in this time is Tom Stoddard, Master Assassin. After initial De-syncing for working against her ancestor, Charlotte re-enters the Animus determined to help the Brotherhood.

    Issue 2:

    Modern Day:

Galina is convinced that Charlotte is not cut out for the Animus and will not survive. She also has similar misgivings over the captured Joseph, claiming the Brotherhood owes him nothing.

    Historical Era:

Tom Stoddard arrives in Salem, in search of a rumoured Piece of Eden. After an initial setback, he meets his contact Jennifer Querry, a nurse and recent Assassin convert.

Apparently a series of young girls have fallen into seizures, igniting local crazed talk of witchcraft. Our Assassins believe this to be the work of the Piece of Eden and search for these girls.

They eventually locate the girls in a hidden dungeon, in a building operated by two high level Templars - Samuel Parris and William Stoughton.

One girl, Dorothy Osborne, promises to take Tom to the Piece of Eden if she is freed. He does so, along with a small boy called David.

Meanwhile, the Templars whip up the locals into a frenzy over witchcraft, and declare that Tom is committing the Devil's work. The locals make their way down to the dungeon.

Dorothy lapses into a seizure, speaking hidden truths. It then becomes clear to Tom that she is in fact the Piece of Eden they seek.

    Issue 3:

    Modern Day:

Galina and Xavier continue to argue over how to utilise Charlotte. It is revealed by Kody, the team technician, that Joseph is being held by Didier Hawking, a high level Templar with a specialisation in memory hacking.

It is feared that Joseph will reveal their location, as such the team decides to load the Animus to a van to allow Charlotte to keep searching whilst they relocate.

    Historical Era:

Tom manages to fight off the angry mob, whilst Jennifer finds a hidden passageway to escape the dungeon.

They are chased into the surrounding woodland, where Jennifer is shot whilst trying to carry the boy David. Tom chooses to escape with Dorothy, putting the mission first.

Once clear of pursuers, Dorothy falls into a trance and declares that she is Consus - a First Civilization entity - whom is inhabiting the body. Consus leaves a message for Charlotte to seek out "The Ones with great knowledge."

Jennifer eventually catches up with Tom, as Templars follow shortly behind her. Tom and Jennifer are captured.

    Issue 4:

    Modern Day:

Believing that nothing further can be gleaned from Charlotte, both Xavier and Galina head out to try and rescue Joseph from the Templars.

Charlotte re-enters the Animus on a hunch and discovers that Joseph had been telling the Templars the truth all along.

    Historical Era:

Tom and Jennifer are being tortured, in the same dungeon that they escaped from. After a distraction from Consus, Jennifer manages to free them both. She is mortally wounded by Parris whilst trying to obtain weaponry.

Parris attempts to kill Tom, but is knocked out. Whilst Tom attempts to escape, he is shot by a recovered Parris.

Declaring the imprisoned girls to be a new breed of oracles, Dorothy is overtaken by feelings of guilt, and takes her own life by fire.

Enraged, Parris declares that all women shall be tried for witchcraft and attempts to kill Tom. He is shot by fellow Templar, Stoughton.

Stoughton clearly has misgivings about Parris's methods, and in keeping with the methods of a Black Cross, takes control of the situation. He releases Tom, David, and the girls.

Tom and David bury Dorothy and Jennifer on the outskirts of Salem. The location of their burial is now known.

    Issue 5:

    Modern Day:

With the realization that Joseph knows the location of Dorothy's body, Xavier and Galina have clearly been sent into a trap. Charlotte decides to go in after them, and is given the familiar Assassin hoodie attire by Kody.

She manages to infiltrate deeper into the building by tricking an employee to open a secured door. She binds the man and presses on, declaring herself to not be a killer to Kody.

Xavier and Galina locate Joseph in a cell. A battle ensues, whereby Galina suffers a leg injury and Xavier is drowned by Joseph in a nearby pool.

Charlotte intervenes, attempting to prevent Joseph from harming Galina. Joseph reveals that the Assassins are using Charlotte, for her power.

A bomb explodes, evidently created by Joseph. It is assumed that Didier Hawking and most of his staff are killed.

As Templar agents storm into the room, Joseph escapes. Charlotte rescues Galina, whom escape via a ventilation shaft - as Charlotte can apparently see through wallls.

On their way out of the building, Charlotte discovers the man that she bound has died. He suffered from Asthma. Charlotte is riddled with guilt over his innocent death.

Galina advises Kody to contact Gavin Banks - Assassin Mentor, advising that the Brotherhood needs to get to Salem as soon as possible, as they do not know if the Templars are already on their way.

Charlotte reveals that Joseph did not tell the Templars the location, as she can apparently read minds. Galina thanks Charlotte for saving her life, finally believing in the novice Assassin.

Issue - Free Comic Book Day:

Note: Its difficult to ascertain where this issue occurs chronologically, but as the team is not in a van, and Kody has both ears, I'm assuming this occurs prior to Issue 6.

    Historical Era:

Haiti, November 1791. Dutty Boukman is due to be executed, a slave whom was one of the early starters of the Haitian Revolution. Within the crowd, two Assassins lay in wait. One is Elsie, ancestor to Charlotte. She seeks to rescue Dutty from the execution stage, but is stopped by her associate Fabien. He argues that they need only recover Dutty's book, yet his death will go on to spur real change. History proves him right, and Elsie stands down.

    Modern Day:

Charlotte emerges from the Animus, now in Mexico City. She exclaims that they need to find Dutty's book before the Templars obtain the information it holds. Kody explains that the Animus needs to recharge, before Charlotte takes out her frustration on the machine by kicking it.

Kody explains in detail about how he has modified the chair, and calls it Red Rider. His modifications allow for faster DNA reading with a thinner needle, reduces nausea, and has improved the image quality. Charlotte apologises, and the two reconcile that they need each other and patience in order for the Brotherhood to succeed.

    Issue 6:

    Modern Day:

Charlotte, Galina, and Kody are now hiding out in a hotel in Mexico City.

It is confirmed that Galina has in fact broken her leg, and a couple of local Doctors are brought in to assess her. Galina immediately executes one, as they are seemingly a Templar. The other is innocent, but after Charlotte's plea, Galina chooses to knock the Doctor out instead.

The three retreat to a different hotel across from the previous - this way they can keep track of whom approaches their former exposed position. Galina chooses to rest up with morphine.

Charlotte tries to understand the message from Consus to seek the "Keepers of Knowledge", and subsequently takes to the darknet to find the elusive Erudito - a hacker group well known for their attacks on Abstergo. She manages to track down a hint to their supposed next meeting, which leads her to ask Kody to once more hook her into the Animus in search of a secret hidden within the great Incan Empire.

    Historical Era:

Peru, 1536. Charlotte's ancestor in this time is a woman called Quila, a chasqui of the Inca Empire. Chasqui are a series of couriers, who would free run messages (Quipu) and items across the Empire, often by relay points.

Quila prides herself on being the fastest runner that she knows, and strives to impress the elders of her village. Many do not share her enthusiasm for the position, and believe she should simply be a 'proper wife'. She has a young apprentice called Turi, who is also a chasqui.

After a courier refuses to give Quila his package, she takes the initiative and steals it from him amidst a group of men. Curious as to its contents, she discovers that it is a communication about an assassination plot for the Emperor Manco. Whilst trying to steal a horse, she is struck down by a stone, and surrounded by the men from before.

    Issue 7
    :

    Modern Day:

After only a few hours in the Animus, Charlotte is forced to emerge as Kody reveals that it requires a six hour charging period. She briefly discusses her family, revealing that her parents seperated when young, with her father walking out on her and her mother. Galina returns, walking on a clutch. She states that they need to find Garcia-Lopez, a high ranking Templar propoganda expert - whom likley knows where to find Joseph. Charlotte argues that they should instead focus on finding Erudito through the Animus. The two clash, with Galina pulling rank and the team setting off after Garcia-Lopez.

Charlotte and Kody track Garcia-Lopez to Chapultepec Park, where they attempt to follow her. They are both spotted, and after a minor altercation involving mace, she manages to escape the pair. Galina arrives in the van to extract them both, making it clear how it had been a terrible failure of a mission, and exposed them all to the Templars.

    Historical Era:

Quila is still surrounded by the men from before. Thankfully a spaniard by the name of Gonzalez Pardo intervenes, saving her. After a brief discussion, they elect to share his horse, as she hopes to pass on the conspiracy message as fast as possible to the Emperor.

After stopping to drink, Pardo takes the Quipu detailing the plot refusing to give it back to Quila. She promptly knocks him out from behind, but struggles to retrieve the message as it is trapped below his heavy unconcious body. Before she can retrieve it, a group of Conquistadors arrive. They knock her out, capturing both her, Pardo, and the message.

    Issue 8:

    Historical Era:

Quila and Pardo are held captive. Pardo manages to antagonise their captor until a fight ensues, attracting nearby Peruvians to their plight. They both manage to escape, but the Quipu is destroyed in the process. As they arrive at Cuzco, the capital city, they part ways with Quila desperate to warn the Emperor of his peril. She is unable to persuade the guards to grant her an audience with the Emperor, namely with no Quipu as evidence and thus she is forced to turn away.

She ends up visiting the home of her former husband, Ayar. After reflecting on their failed marriage, and how it brought shame on Ayar's family, she seeks to speak to Ayar's father who still holds considerable political power. Making her case to warn the Emperor, she again has no evidence, with Ayar's father questioning her motives given the history with his son. Pardo bursts into the meeting drunk, at which point Quila is deemed a conspirator with the Spanish and is seemingly captured once more.

    Modern Day:

Charlotte is pulled from the Animus at Galina's request. Apparently Charlotte entered the machine unsupervised, and it has again run out of battery power. New batteries are required, but Galina advises that they should all stay put whilst the Templars know their faces. After a brief argument, Charlotte takes off in search of the batteries alone, leaving the others alone in the van.

Whilst opposing forces makes their plans to find our heroes, Charlotte defends a civilian from a racketeer. Feeling good about herself, she again goes in search of the batteries, but notices someone following her. It ends up being Galina, who explains that she had come in search of Charlotte. However, having returned to the van Kody had apparently been kidnapped, leaving only a severed ear. The two have been demanded to attend a cartel location, and set off to rescue Kody.

    Issue 9:

    Modern Day:

The cartel set the location at a sports stadium. With Galina providing cover with a sniper rifle, Charlotte makes her way through taking out opposition as she goes. The two argue over radio, with Charlotte questioning Galina's leadership qualities. Kody is tied to a chair in the centre, with a gun to his head. As Charlotte closes in, a second sniper opens fire upon her. Hiding behind some barrels, she is grabbed by one of the gang members and shot in the foot. Galina lays down enough covering fire for Charlotte to briefly escape, before a helicopter sweeps in - whom prompty guns down the sniper and remaining gang members.

The occupants are Templars, led by Ortega Sanchez. Realising that Joseph had warned her that they were after her, Charlotte puts a gun to her head and warns them to back off or lose their prized prisoner. She offers to turn herself over freely, so long as Galina and Kody can be set free. Ortega refuses, however, Charlotte ups her offer by suggesting she can hand over the location of the leaders of Erudito inside 24 hours. The deal is accepted and the Templars depart.

    Historical Era:

Ayar's father informs Quila that Pardo is in fact an Assassin. Declared a tool of the Spanish, the two are sentenced to death by sacrifice atop a nearby mountain. Upon the way Pardo is questioned by Quila, where he explains that he was not attempting to kill Atahualpa, but in fact save him - he was too late. As a result, he turned to drink. The Quipu was originally sent by a merchant he reveals, at which point Quila realises that Ayur's father must be behind the plot to kill the emperor. She pleads with Ayur to listen, but she is instead tied down as he lifts the club above her...

    Issue 10:

    Historical Era:

Ayur professes that he loved Quila, and he still does. He promptly defeats the men surrounding her, aiding her and Pardo's escape. They immediately set out to warn the Emperor of the plot, but Pardo's elects to remain behind in solace before offering them his horse Felipe. Upon arriving at the capital, they manage to sneak inside using the horse as a distraction. Searching the fortress, Quila comes across the Emperor with Ayur's father. Knocking aside a cup she suspects is poisoned, a fight ensues where Pardo reappears to assist. The Emperor is saved, and Quila becomes official messenger for him. Pardo says that she would always be welcome to join the Brotherhood, but to use the password "Don Gonzalo Pardo" amongst them.

    Modern Day:

Charlotte rises from the Animus, calling out the password. She immediately logs in to a PC, and uses it on the Erudito page. Sure enough, it works and a set of co-ordinates in Argentina are shown. She agrees to meet the Templars as requested, leaving Galina and Kody to escape. However, as the Templars arrive an armed force of cartel open fire eliminating them all. Galina explains that she brokered a deal with the cartel, and they could not leave without Charlotte as she is one of the team.

Taking a flight to Argentina, the three find a gentleman holding a calling card for "Don Gonzalo Pardo" and are led to a secluded room with a woman at the end of a long table. As the Assassins finally come face to face with Erudito, Charlotte realises that the woman is in fact her Grandmother Florencia!

    Issue 11:

    Modern Day:

A meeting of the leaders of Erudito has been called. The debate turns as to why Charlotte and her team were invited into discussions, with the topic turning quickly to that of Consus. It is quite clear the entity is of special reverance to the hacker collective, as the fact that Charlotte heard his voice is of great interest to them. Charlotte discovers the story behind Juno and the Phoenix Project, and that Erudito believed only Giovanni Borgia had been contacted by Consus - thus their interest. It turns out that they believe Giovanni has a second memory of Consus, that has been hidden from Abstergo. Fortunately for Charlotte, her ancestor Hiram Stoddard was in contact with Giovanni in 1516.

Erudito calls for a vote amongst its members, with Charlotte's grandmother calling for the creation of Hive bases across the globe, and cross training their own agents. Counter arguments are made for Erudito to stay out of events, and with the votes on a knife edge, Charlotte elects to stand in - offering a team up between the Brotherhood and Erudtio. In exchange for Galina training and assisting their agents, Erudito will help track down Joseph Laurier. Charlotte will also seek Consus and answers within an Animus. The votes agree, and the course is set.

Galina leaves for Somalia, hugging Charlotte on her way out - the two finally getting along now. Before Charlotte can sit in the Animus, she reveals she was injured by Templar agents - Florencia thus insists on a full body scan to check for tracing chemicals or chips. Mid scan, Kody wakes her to express his concerns about entering Hiram's memories - he fears the meeting with Consus did something to seriously derange his mind, and worries what it will do to Charlotte...

    Historical Era:

Florence, Italy, 1516. Hiram Stoddard enters a building, and finds Giovanni Borgia hiding in wait. Whilst he dodges a thrown dagger, he is taken down by a swift kick from Hiram. Hiram then puts a sword to his throat...

    Issue 12:

    Historical Era:

Greece, 1516. Hiram and Giovanni are engaged in a war of words. It is clear there is a great divide between them. They fight, until Giovanni manages to wrest an artifact from Hiram - an Apple of Eden! Giovanni wants to help Hiram, and leaves him with a book given to him by his mentor.

Tuscany, 1515. A year earlier, Hiram and Giovanni are engaged within a sparring duel. Hiram cheats before they are interrupted by their assassin teacher - Ezio Auditore himself! Giovanni is angered, and Ezio takes him on a walk. He explains that there are many paths to becoming an Assassin, and gives Giovanni a book by Dante (presumably Inferno, part of The Divine Comedy) to read and reflect on. Meanwhile Hiram entertains Elena, a young woman that assists Ezio. Her english is not very good, but he still manages to flirt with her. Ezio interrupts stating that he has an urgent mission involving Templars for Hiram, and that he must attend his friend Michaelangelo.

    Modern Day:

Charlotte awakens from the Animus and reveals that she has not had any luck with finding Consus as yet. Kody still has serious reservations about using the memories of 'Bloody Hiram'. Florencia is evidently losing the Erudito vote, and as such Charlotte heads back into the machine in search of the Isu himself.

Meanwhile, in Mogadishu, Somalia. Galina leads a group of Assassins trying to locate the elusive Joseph. They are observing a public event attended by Zehra Okur, a successful businesswoman and known Templar funder. After some misdirection involving a digger, Galina is finally jumped by Joseph behind some crates.

    Issue 13:

    Historical Era:

Florence, 1515. Hiram and Giovanni lie in wait, high above the city alongside Michelangelo. Their target passes by within a carriage below, supposedly holding onto a Piece of Eden. Giovanni urges caution and to wait for nightfall, but Hiram is insistent they launch a surprise attack. They both dive down and engage the carriages' guards. Amidst the battle, the target escapes with the artifact - much to Giovanni's disgust.

    Modern Day:

Charlotte is awakened from the Animus by Kody. Her vitals were apparently off the charts. Kody demands she rests, but Florencia argues that she must continue until Consus is found. Charlotte re-enters the Animus.

    Historical Era:

Two days later, Hiram and Giovanni continue to argue over the tactics that they employed. Giovanni states that he will report his misgivings directly to Ezio, whilst Hiram decides to get drunk and attracts the attention of a female bartender. The next morning he awakes to find Elena waiting for him, having evidently been informed by Giovanni. The two men fight, with Elena branding them both as animals - throwing off her scarf. The simulation suddenly becomes pixellated and repeats...

    Modern Day:

Charlotte awakens again. Kody and Florencia agree that what she has experienced was a 'false' memory, and that the memories have seemingly been masked and erased by Consus. Charlotte re-enters and experiences the same fight between Hiram and Giovanni over and over, each time playing out with a differing ending. Each time she notices the scarf, and eventually elects to touch it. The scene plays out again, this time with Consus speaking through Giovanni. He leaves a cryptic message for Charlotte, whom then awakens to find the Erudito facility under attack by the Templars.

Meanwhile in Somalia, Galina attempts to attack Joseph but is struck down. My'shell manages to distract him with a flanking strike, before Sheed pulls a gun on him - ceasing the fight. Word reaches them that the Erudito island is under attack, and they quickly realise that Joseph is the only one with a plane. He reluctantly agrees to go, but only if he can speak with Charlotte.

Back on the island, Kody wires up explosives to the servers to blow them up. Florencia attempts to back up their data, but bullets start flying before they have chance. Charlotte pulls Florencia clear, but Kody tries to run back for the data and is gunned down.

    Issue 14:

    Modern Day:

Fatally wounded, Kody is consoled by Charlotte in his dying moments. She promises him that he did well to save the data from the Templars. After he passes, Florencia and Charlotte argue over the situation with each blaming the other for what ultimately lead to Kody's death. A plane flys overhead, and is promptly shot down by the Templars. The group of remaining Assassins and Erudito members then decide it is best to keep moving. Florencia advises everyone that she hid boats in a cave on the southern side of the island in the event of such an emergency, and this is where they collectively decide to head for.

Meanwhile, at the former Erudito base, Sanchez and the rest of the Templars search for clues. It appears that Charlotte has had a tracking device on her the whole time, as such they all can see exactly where the group is heading. Sanchez elects to send a group to the caves in advance of the group's arrival in order to set up an ambush.

Templars surround the crashed plane, finding the deceased Sheed in the co-pilot seat. They are immediately ambushed by Galina, Joseph and My'shell who seemingly survived the crash. Realising that any hope of rescue relies on taking out the ship that shot them down, they head towards the water.

Charlotte and her group finally reach the southern caves, but her sixth sense is warning her that the group should not enter. She argues the point with Florencia, whom states there was no way that they could have known about the cave. The group sides with Charlotte's vision, and choose to double back. Explaining that she is being tracked, Charlotte elects to go off solo, in the hope of attackers following her away from the group.

Galina, Joseph and My'shell attack the ship. The crew retaliate, and explosives upon the deck are hit amidst the gunfire - effectively destroying the ship. Joseph is caught in the blastwave, and is badly wounded. Galina willingly takes his life to spare his pain.

Charlotte manages to take out a few assailants that follow her amongst the treeline. Florencia and the group manage to reach the crashed ship, and are surprised to bump into Galina and My'shell, whom are awaiting Assassin assistance...

In the mean time, Charlotte fights her way to the top of a waterfall. She manages to take down another soldier with a gun, but is quickly surrounded by Sanchez and several Templar guards. With nowhere to run, she is surprised as gunfire rains out with the entire Templar group gettting gunned down. She spins round to see an attack Helicopter behind her. The door opens, with Florencia waving to Charlotte. After a leap of faith to the helicopter, Charlotte comes aboard to find the Erudito group along with Galina all settled inside. The helicopter is piloted by Kiyoshi Takakura, whom along with Arend Schut, were sent by Gavin Banks to rescue the remaining Assassins. It would appear Charlotte is finally to meet with the leadership of the Assassin Brotherhood.

Du mocks the activities of the Templar Order thus far in China, whilst Cross attempts to discover the whereabouts of the box. The conversation turns to the poison that is inside the pin, at which point 'Fiery Crow' keels over, freeing Cross once more. It had been his plan to be captured all along, to discover what Du really knew. He promptly grabs his possessions and guns his way out of the nearest window in order to escape.

Meanwhile, Darius arrives at the local movie production studio, seeking out Roo. He manages to sneak his way on to set, where she is performing. She heads for a break in her dressing room, where Darius confronts her. He pleads for the whereabouts of the box, but she informs him that it has already been sold on. Darius realises that he is nothing more than a gift. A gangster arrives and injures them both. The Black Cross intervenes, eliminating the gangster.

Darius fires a gun into the back of the Black Cross, citing vengeance for his father. Cross tries to protest that he did it for the order, but Darius fires multiple shots into him. Black Cross stumbles and falls off a ledge, with a brief flash of his wife and child coming to mind, the scene disappears to desynchronization.

    Modern Day:

    Abstergo, Montreal, 2013.

Otso Berg stares at the desynchronized monitors. Violet Da Costa asks if he has had any luck. Otso reveals that the Black Cross, aka Albie Bolden, was the last known person to possess the Koh-i-noor. They had hoped that it was contained within the box carried by Darius. Locating any modern descendants of Bolden would take time, and he expressed that they should look into other matters in the mean time. Perhaps even resurrect the Black Cross title.

    Issue 6:

    Modern Day:

Philadelphia. Andre Bolden, a 72 year old former soldier, sits down for tea with two Abstergo employees in his home. The two explain that they are there in their Abstergo capacity to help with his PTSD, and that they have some new therapy for him to try. He attends a local Abstergo medical facility, where he is introduced to Otso Berg, Violet Da Costa and Caitlin Gift. Shortly after he enters the Animus to begin his therapy.

    Historical Era:

Mediterranean Sea, 1805. Aboard a ship, Solomon Bolden - a slaver - travels from Italy to Libya. He makes the acquaintance of Jan Van Der Graff, a textiles merchant. They discuss their journey, with Graff implying that the two have secrets, and should travel together to meet the Sultan. The ship is attacked in the night by pirates seeking the Black Cross. Bolden changes into an outfit, and subsequently dispatches with the pirates - revealing his true identity. Graff reveals that the pirates must have been sent by the Sultan, and that he just happens to know a way into the Sultan's palace.

    Modern Day:

Andre awakens from the Animus, immediately taking down two guards as he leaves the facility in disgust over the experience of the supposed therapy. Later that night, Otso Berg visits Andre at his home. He apologises, and reveals the real reasons for the use of the Animus. Promising a possible resolution to both of their issues, Andre agrees to return to the facility to help with the project. Meanwhile, Violet Da Costa sits in the Animus maintenance room. She overrides the system and successfully uploads a copy of the data retrieved from Andre to... somewhere. Or someone!

    Issue 7:

    Modern Day:

With the revelation that Solomon Bolden was not Andre's ancestor, Otso Berg discusses how to proceed with an analysis of Graff instead. Andre re-enters the Animus, as Violet raises her concerns about revealing too much of their secrets to the outsider.

    Historical Era:

Finally reaching the land, Graff and Bolden depart the ship and travel by camel to Tripoli. They attend a small bar, discussing how to access the Sultan's palace before drinking heavily. They eventually make way to the secret tunnel, where they are ambushed by guards. Solomon is slain, but advises Graff to seek out the real Black Cross in his dying breath. Graff is captured.

    Issue 8:

    Modern Day:

Andre drowns his sorrows at a bar, where he is joined by Otso Berg. Otso reveals the truth of the situation to him, regarding the Templars, Assassins and the Pieces of Eden. Andre does not buy the full story, and leaves the bar - walking directly into a driveby shooting. Otso pulls him to cover just in time, before assailing the car and eliminating its occupants.

Meanwhile, Violet meets a contact within a darkened car park. The contact is concerned that Otso is too close to locating the Koh-i-noor, and desires that she eliminate Andre before its location is revealed. Violet protests that Otso will suspect things, before she takes a call from Mr Berg himself informing of the shooting. All parties, including the contact and Caitlin Gift return to the facility.

Andre attempts to re-enter the Animus immediately as Otso fears a leak, but immediately cries out as it is evidently a torture memory. They move the memories forward to a few days afterward.

    Historical Era:

Graff awakens after his torture ordeal. He is surrounded by several tortuers, and Lord Selim - who immediately labels him a Templar infiltrator. He mentions that the time to use the Koh-i-noor is near, and that they should hide him deeper into the dungeons where the Assassins cannot find him. Graff is subsequently thrown into a new cell, with a mysterious individual who is citing the Father of Understanding. Graff sadly passes out before identifying them.

    Modern Day:

Hours after the session ends, within the lab, Caitlin Gift is strangled by Violet's contact and presumably dies. Violet meets with Andre, and confirms most of what Otso told him. She also gives him the former Pin of the Black Cross, stating that it belongs to him now. Otso takes a call that there has been an incident at the lab...

    Issue 9:

    Modern Day:

Otso and Violet arrive at the lab, only to find the murdered body of Caitlin Gift lying on the lab floor. Otso finds the situation confusing, as Violet attempts to explain how Caitlin has been contacting a third party on her computer. It is clear Otso has his concerns, and he orders Violet to track down the 'mole' within the lab. In the meantime, he convinces Andre to once more enter the Animus.

    Historical Era:

Graff discovers that the mysterious man inhabiting his cell is in fact the current Black Cross. He tells Graff of the ways of the Templar Order, and how he must keep it in check. Graff begins to train under his tutelage.

Meanwhile, the Sultan holds onto the Koh-i-noor, even displaying its power as he creates multiple illusions of himself. When their next meal is brought by guards, the Black Cross sacrifices himself against three men, in order for Graff to escape through the opened door. He promptly makes his way to the Sultan's room, dispatching guards quietly on his way. A servant by the name of Ahkbar convinces the Sultan that he should move on from the palace, before word of the relic reaches the ears of the Assassins. The Sultan reluctantly agrees, leaving just himself and Ahkbar - whom reveals himself to be an Assassin, and having already poisoned the Sultan by the very tea he just drank. With the Sultan dead, Ahkbar claims the Koh-i-noor as Graff enters the room. Even creating illusions is not enough of a distraction, and Graff throws a blade into Ahkbar's heart having given away his true self by the sound of his feet. Several Brotherhood Assassins then emerge from the shadows having heard the conversation. Stating that he does not desire the relic, Graff turns over the supposed bag it contains. However, he secretly retains the relic, and leaves by a ship set for America.

    Modern Day:

Andre emerges from the Animus, and Otso reflects on how they have achieved little in their search for the Koh-i-noor. Andre states that this is a war he can no longer be part of, and passes the Black Cross pin to Otso. Otso agrees, and with a reflection on his conversation with Violet that he can trust no-one, he dutifully decides that he is now the Templar Order's Black Cross.

    Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants Locus

This title comes under the same branding as the young adult book series, and continues the story from the first novel. It features a modern day character called Sean, who becomes embroiled into the Assassin-Templar war. He will relive the memories of his ancestor Tommy Greyling within Victorian London, with both Evie Frye and Henry Green both appearing within the story.

    Story Summary by Issue

    Issue 1:

    Historical Era:

New York, 1872. Tommy Greyling attends the home of Mr Greeley. The latter confirms that he has in fact been poisoned by President Grant, or one of his supporters. After a lengthy discussion, Greeley mentions that he had been party to discussions with Templars on Pieces of Eden, and had in fact been in contact with both a Precursor Box and pages of the Voynich Manuscript. As Greeley falls asleep, Greyling turns to leave, only to find a nurse trying to murder Greeley. The nurse wounds him with a throwing knife before diving out of the window.

London, England, 1872. An unnamed female runs across rooftops, flanked by two policeman. She is eventually cornered by Tommy Greyling - here working for the Pinkerton Agency. He recognises her as the Nurse from New York, before he is again attacked with throwing knives. The woman ties some rope around him, then uses his weight to basejump off the buillding in order to land safely in the street below. Tommy is pulled over the edge, but is saved at the last second by Evie Frye and Henry Green.

    Modern Day:

Sean awakens from the Animus. He appears to still be working for Isaiah and Abstergo at the Aerie. After he reports his findings from the session, including the mentions of the Precursor Box and Voynich pages, he is requested to get some rest. Isaiah privately discusses his reservations about the urgency of the project, however the unnamed phone caller states that he should be very careful with Sean's mental health, given his disability and desire to walk within the Animus. Meanwhile, Sean ventures outside to meet Natalya. She warns Sean that they are using him, and that he is spending far more time in the Animus than the others. He refuses to listen, and takes off alone.

    Issue 2:

    Historical Era:

Irish Sea, 1872. Tommy Greyling crosses the ocean from New York to Great Britain upon a passenger ship. He makes conversation with a fellow passenger - one Mark Twain. Tommy discusses what brings him to the country, and explains his experience with Greeley in New York. To his surprise, not only has Mr Twain heard of Pieces of Eden, but that he'd heard them described within the Middle East on his own adventures.

London, 1872. Following the events of the rooftops (previous issue), Greyling, Clemens, Abberline, Evie Frye, and Henry Green attend the Scotland Yard morgue. They discuss the obvious connections that the female assailant must have had, which stretches into the police force itself. A couple of officers had gone missing with one found dead, and another known as Edward Feather still unaccounted for. After investigating the muddied shoes of the deceased policeman, they determine the location where Feather must be held.

Later at this location, Evie and Henry open the doors to a large warehouse, with the others following with handguns. They find a badly wounded Edward, but quickly realise they have walked into a trap. The female assailant returns, this time with a mob of Blighters - the former gang of Crawford Starrick. A gun fight ensues, whilst the Assassins quickly dispatch the gang. Greyling chases after the female assailant, but immediately runs into her waiting knife blade - straight into his chest.

    Modern Day:

Sean emerges from the Animus, to disclose his conversation about Pieces of Eden within the Middle East. Isaiah insists he continue within the Animus, despite Sean's calls for a rest. Sean reluctantly returns in the simulation, the long term effects of the Animus likely starting to take hold. He later emerges from the Animus screaming after Greyling has been stabbed...

    Issue 3:

    Modern Day:

Sean lays in a medical wing, recovering. Natalya hears the news and arrives to find David and Grace already waiting outside. Natalya chastises Sean and Isaiah, saying they are pushing his Animus visits too hard. Sean, David and Grace state that they wish to continue the Animus sessions, leading Natalya to storm out in disagreement. She is later joined by David and Grace, where they reveal that they suspect things are not as they seem - but they must keep appearances for now. Isaiah discusses the situation with Dr Bibeau seperately, where she advises to look after the teenagers carefully...

    Historical Era:

To the shock of his companions, Tommy survived the stabbing thanks to a makeshift protection vest. They ascertain that Feather must have revealed the location at the British Museum, and they all set off towards it. With a police protest in the street, they finally arrive to find that the guards have been slain. Delving deeper into the museum, they come across the female assailant and the Blighters once more. A fire fight ensues as she escapes with a document, with Tommy in hot pursuit again as they both board carriages.

    Issue 4:

    Historical Era:

Tommy chases the female assailant through the streets of London, both aboard horse carriages. Tommy fires a few shots from his gun, missing the mark. She promptly slaps him across the face with a horse whip, and then his horse - near forcing him off his carriage. As Tommy wrestles for control, she jumps from her own carriage and escapes from out of sight.

    Modern Day:

Sean is removed from the Animus. Isaiah states that the investigation is suspended, as by all accounts Tommy returns to the USA after with no remarkable notes - assuming he must have lost track of the woman.

Sean reluctantly stands down and meets with Natalya, David and Grace. He discusses how obsessed he had become with using the Animus, and apologises to the group. After discussion of Tommy's story, it was clear that there was still more to be discovered - after all, ship travel was very limited at that time. After convincing Isaiah of the case to continue, Sean re-enters the Animus.

    Historical Era:

After discussing losing his target with Evie, Henry et al, Tommy comes to the same conclusion that the only way out of the country would be the very same ship. He leaves the others and attends the ship journey. Mid travel, he finds the woman standing upon the deck of the ship. Pulling a gun, he demands her surrender. She reveals her name to be Alice and shows him a manuscript that she had been smuggling away for the Templars. Refusing to allow it to fall into the hands of the Assassins, she throws it overboard along with herself - leaving Tommy empty handed.

    Modern Day:

Sean reveals that the manuscript was destroyed. Isaiah reluctantly thanks Sean for his dedication, and requests the team of youngsters all go to unwind and relax - for the real work is yet to come.

    Assassin's Creed: Reflections

Reflections is a series of one-off stories, featuring fan favourites; Ezio, Altair, Edward and Connor.

    Story Summary by Issue

    Issue 1:

    Modern Day:

Otso Berg enters his private study office at Abstergo Montreal. As part of his activities as the Black Cross, he must take on the teachings of the Assassins, and learn how to graft their skills and knowledge onto himself. To this end, he seeks to better his understanding of the Brotherhood by looking at some of their most famous members. He starts by opening the file of Ezio Auditore Da Firenze.

    Historical Era:

Amboise, France, 1519. An ailing Leonardo Da Vinci lies in bed. A servant tries to serve food to him, but he refuses and requests that it is given to a poor soul in the streets. As the servant leaves and closes the door, Ezio reveals himself from his hiding place behind it. They embrace and discuss Leonardo's fading health. Leo requests that they talk as old friends, and that Ezio tell a secret to him.

Ezio begins the story of how he met the legendary 'Mona Lisa' - Lisa Gherardini in 1504. Injured in a battle outside of Firenze, he awoke to find himself tied up in a barn - where Lisa had nursed him back to health and dressed his wounds. She compares his tying up to how animals were snared for their protection, to which Ezio remarks that he must be her fox. Over time the two became close, but as she was already married the two could not truly reflect each other's feelings. He eventually left to once more battle for the Brotherhood.

A year later, Ezio discovered that Cesare Borgia had ordered a hit squad upon Leonardo to end his life. Intercepting the goons, Ezio managed to dispatch them before finding Leo at his workshop. There he walked in to find the legendary Mona Lisa painting being created, with Lisa Gherardini herself sitting motionless in pose. She looked upon Ezio - and smiled. Leo demanded she keep that pose, and furiously started painting.

With Ezio's story now ended, the older Leonardo Da Vinci now lay asleep in his bed. Kissing his head, Ezio chooses his time to leave. Shortly after, the servant enters to find that the great Da Vinci had passed away.

    Issue 2:

    Modern Day:

Otso continues his research into the Brotherhood. This time he takes a look at Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad and his immediate family - his wife Maria, and son Darim. He believes love to be a weakness, with family making you a larger target to be hit - but the strength of family is about to surprise him.

    Historical Era:

Xia Province, China, 1227. Altaïr, Maria and Darim survey an enemy camp. They meet a local Assassin, Qulan Gal, whom explains that the camp belongs to Genghis Khan. Without any dogs on guard, he feels that a subtle approach can be possible. He and Altaïr head down into the camp, whilst Maria and Darim provide sniper cover with crossbows. The two eventually make it to Khan's tent, where he is placing a Sword of Eden into a chest. A guard raises an alarm at this moment and the two are forced to flee into hiding, with Altaïr injured in the process.

They elect to hide in a tent, only to find a fellow captured Assassin, Nergui, whom they free. The three eventually dodge the guards and return to the waiting Darim and Maria. With the Khan so close, they discuss how they can possibly complete his assassination with such a small team. Using black powder arrows, they pepper the camp with these explosives, in turn startling the resting horses and wildlife causing a minor stampede in the process. The camp is thrown into disarray, with the Khan electing to escape by horse with a few guards.

Qulan and Darim give chase on their own horses, and take down the guards one by one until the Khan is eventually unmounted by a bolt. Swearing that his descendants will immortalise his legacy, the great Genghis Khan falls to a bolt fired by Darim. With more riders coming, they elect to abandon finding the Sword of Eden and make their escape. Reuniting with Altaïr, Maria, and Nergui - the mission was completed.

    Issue 3:

    Modern Day:

Otso Berg remains in his study. This time he looks to the life of Edward Kenway, whom joined the Brotherhood rather out of convenience, than blind faith. As a convert, they actively make the choice to change their life - making them some of the most dangerous of foes.

    Historical Era:

The Caribbean Sea, 1722. With Adéwalé at the wheel of the Jackdaw, Edward calls for the anchor to be dropped. Whilst it appears that they are in the middle of nowhere, Edward explains that this is the perfect location to hide wealth, and due to the low water it likely contains numerous treasures from crashed ships below them. As such, he calls for the diving bell to be readied, and he makes his way down under the waters.

A time later, Edward is brought back up with gold upon him. But he learns that his crew has been taken captive by a pirate known as Ned Low. Edward is forced to negotiate to save his crew, by agreeing to go down again for another stash for Ned. Adéwalé manages to slip a tinderbox to Edward before he returns underwater.

Eventually Ned demands that the bell be brought back up, but once he looks underneath he sees several small bombs that have been prepared and lit. The bell explodes knocking down Ned and most of his crew, and littering the deck with gold coins. Edward meanwhile climbs the ship from the waters, and makes his way below deck to free his crew. Grabbing what weapons they can, the Jackdaw crew charges out against Ned's and a sword battle erupts.

Fearing defeat, Ned and his crew retreat to their ship via ropes. But Edward has one last trick up his sleeves. He had carefully positioned some explosive barrels around Ned's ship, and taking aim with a rifle he detonates them - destroying Ned's ship and all her crew. Adéwalé is impressed, but wonders how they will pay for the Jackdaw repairs. Edward points out that as always the answer is right under their noses - and they begin retrieving the gold coins embedded in the ship's wood.

    Issue 4:

    Modern Day:

Otso Berg is once more in his study. He questions whether love and family are a weakness, and if it can actually make you a wider target. He concedes that in some circumstances it can actually give rise to strength, and decides to open the file for Ratonhnhaké:ton - the assassin known as Connor.

    Historical Era:

Upstate New York, 1796. Within a forest, Connor gives chase to his young daughter Io:Nhiòte, whilst asking her to slow down. He warns her that they are far from her mother's village, and that they should be mindful of their surroundings. Io:Nhiòte realises that they have come so far out in order to teach her to track and hunt, mainly as girls are not allowed to do so in her tribe. Connor states that it his responsibility as her father to teach her the skills that he feels she needs. Io:Nhiòte queries why she was chosen and not her elder brother or sister, to which Connor states that it is because she has a special talent.

They walk to a nearby river, at which point Connor asks what she sees. She quickly finds tracks of a buck, and is able to tell that it stopped to drink from the river. Connor asks how she knows this, and she responds that the forest itself has told her the story. Connor points out again that she has a natural gift. They follow the tracks, with Io:Nhiòte running on ahead. She tracks down the deer, but loses her footing in the mud and slips over the edge of a small cliff drop. She is knocked unconscious.

She awakens to find her father looking down upon her as she lays against a tree. Her foot is badly swollen from the fall, and Connor decides to go and collect some cool water from the stream to reduce the swelling. Promising to return quickly he runs away leaving Io:Nhiòte braiding grass blades to pass the time. She notices fresh wolf tracks near the tree, and calls to her father to warn him but he is too far away. High above an Eagle looks down upon her, hearing her shouts. It flys towards Connor and in turn screeches a warning just as the wolf leaps towards him in the stream. They briefly fight, before Connor is forced to down the wolf with his hidden blade. He discovers that the wolf had in fact been shot by a musket, and must have been in tremendous pain. He is thankful that he at least freed the wolf from her torment.

Returning to Io:Nhiòte he is amazed to find that she knew of the wolf, and she points and thanks the flying Eagle in gratitude. Connor realises that not only does she have a talent for hunting, but its obvious that she has far more abilities within her. He vows that he has a great deal more to teach her.

    Epilogue:

Clearly moved by Connor's story, Otso Berg picks up his mobile phone. The lock screen is the face of his daughter, Elina. Accepting that he is always fighting for the future, he concedes that he sometimes forgets whose future he is fighting for. He calls his daughter, and quietly leaves the office.

    Assassin's Creed: Uprising

Uprising continues the stories of the Assassin and Templar comic lines, and will feature the culmination of the Phoenix Project.

    Story Summary by Issue

    Issue 1:

    Modern Day:

Hong Kong, 2017. Charlotte de La Cruz dives through the window of a skyscraper crashing to a van roof below, breaking her fall. A would be Assassin with a super heated blade leaps after her, narrowly missing her and stabbing through the roof of the van - to where Guernica Moneo hides below, assisting Charlotte on her mission. As Charlotte fends off the rogue Assassins from within the back, Guernica drives the van off at speed. A throwing star breaks the windshield, slicing off Guernica's fingers and hitting him in the face - the van then crashes on its side as he loses control. They both survive, but instead of interrogating a defeated Assassin, Charlotte elects to escape to a safe house and in turn save the wounded Guernica.

London, England. As youths perform parkour across the rooftops of the city, they come across a combat training session between the Assassins Galina Voronina and My'Shell Lemair, with the latter learning from the Master Assassin. Looking on are fellow Assassins Kiyoshi Takakura and Arend Schut-Cunningham. They are interupted by a call from Charlotte, whom reports back on her mission. The building was believed to have been an abandoned Phoenix Project site, with the belief that Gramatica may have left behind clues as to his whereabouts. However, the site was not abandoned. It contained a boy, whom was seemingly protected by Assassins openly displaying the Brotherhood symbol. Charlotte explained that the boy spoke to her, stating he recognized her. With all of her team killed, only she and Guernica managed to escape with their lives. Who were these people?

Meanwhile, back in Hong Kong, Otso Berg and Violet Da Costa investigate the former Phoenix Project site. Otso remarks that he is confused as to why a small army of bodies appeared to be defending the site, much less Assassins. It was cleared out months ago to merely be an archive after all. He orders Violet to pay off the Police to leave the site as it is, and retires to his hotel room. Changing into his high tech Black Cross attire, he returns to the skyscraper to conduct an investigation of his own. He is assisted on this endeavour by Andre Bolden, who is acting as a tech support. Otso discovers both high tech Abstergo equipment, and Assassin weaponry on the same victims. Somehow, the two factions are conspiring...

    Issue 2:

    Modern Day:

Abstergo Entertainment, Montreal, Canada. Otso Berg and Violet Da Costa further discuss the odd events that transpired within Hong Kong. Otso remains confused as to how Assassins evidently came across a greater equipped force in what amounted to an administrative location. Suddenly, both of their phones - along with everyone else's around them - displays the Black Cross icon.

At a nearby retreat, the Inner Sanctum of the Templar Order is holding a meeting - with Alan Rikkin curiously absent. In full armour, the Black Cross approaches the building but is challenged by guards. Showing the Black Cross symbol on his phone, he is subsequently allowed to enter. Addressing the Sanctum directly, he advises them of his status and that the Order has been infiltrated by a fifth column. A seated Otso Berg then stands up to challenge the Black Cross, and is thrown across the room instead. Warning that they are all suspects, he promises to call upon them soon - and leaves by a smoke bomb.

Meanwhile back in London. My'Shell has been repairing an Animus, when Charlotte enters the room. They both elect to go a local public house, and get in some drinks. Charlotte questions why My'Shell wants to become an Assassin, citing the fact that she now looks at ordinary people around her and immediately can calculate multiple ways to kill them. The Bleeding Effect has turned her into a living weapon, but at what cost? She now wonders how much her ancestors may now be a part of her, and as such begins to question if her own life is just a simulation too - looking out for glitches in every day life.

Otso returns home, and welcomes the Black Cross into his apartment. Removing his mask, Andre Bolden is revealed within the suit. It had been a perfect ruse, to trick the Sanctum into believing that Berg and the Black Cross were entirely different people. Otso reveals that the goggles were from a division in Europe, and decides to head to Berlin to investigate further.

Outside of the Abstergo Berlin office, Heinrich Hart leaves work for the day. He is immediately intercepted by Galina, Arend and Kiyoshi whom are seeking answers over their losses in Hong Kong. He has been acting as an informant to the Brotherhood, but swears blind he knew nothing of what had lied in wait for them at the Hong Kong site. Demanding he find answers under duress, they leave him in an alleyway.

Shortly after, the Black Cross appears - also seeking answers from Hart. Bizarrely Hart discloses that they had left a breadcrumb trail for him to follow, and that it was about time he arrived. Unleashing a taser whip, Hart unleashes an attack throwing them both through windows of a building as they battle. As Hart reveals his true identity as an Instrument of the First Will, he pulls out a high explosive from his pocket. The Black Cross barely gets to the nearby window before the entire building explodes, and dives into the river below.

    Issue 3:

    Modern Day:

London. Charlotte and the Assassins review the media, where a large explosion in Berlin dominates the headlines. Kiyoshi argues that killing 170 people in public doesn't really fit with the Templar ideals, and suggests another faction might be in play. My'Shell reveals that she has a list of Pieces of Eden retrieved from the Hong Kong Abstergo lab, and pulls up an image of the Koh-i-noor. Charlotte realises that it is the 'mountain glimmer' Consus mentioned in his message to her. With My'Shell convinced that it is present in the Spanish Civil war, Charlotte straps herself into the makeshift Animus. The machine appears to malfunction, with Charlotte seemingly trapped inside a simulation and unable to be woken.

Having survived the blast in Berlin, Otso Berg returns to his hideout to find Andre waiting. Expressing frustration over the apparent fifth column that has infiltrated the Templar Order, Otso is advised by Andre to look for the blood of the situation - namely money. It must be being redirected somewhere...

Meanwhile, back in London, an injured Guernica returns to find the team surrounding the stricken Animus. He is shocked to learn that My'Shell has repaired the machine with unvetted Abstergo parts, and fears that the machine is now compromised. She makes her apologies and leaves, whilst Guernica informs the others that they will need the assistance of Felix Oladele - an Abstergo/Erudito plant based in Montreal whom is familiar with Animus extractions. Kiyoshi and Arend make the flight immediately to Canada, and using a cargo plane perform a halo jump on to the roof of Abstergo Montreal. After working through the few guards present, they reach the office of Oladele - only to find him already slain by a high tech Assassin, the same individual from Hong Kong. The 'Assassin' wounds them both with throwing knives, and throws Arend out the nearest window which he just manages to hang onto. After a few shots from Kiyoshi's gun, the 'Assassin' jumps from the window. Arend and Kiyoshi both make their way back out, both heavily injured. The only way that the 'Assassin' could know where they were headed is if they have a leak - either from the Animus... or one of their own within the Brotherhood.

Within the Animus, Charlotte is stranded. Stuck in a perpetual loading environment, she feels like she is losing track of time. She calls out to My'Shell hoping that she can hear her, but it is to no avail. Yet, even within this apparent emptiness, she becomes aware that she is in fact not alone. Someone approaches her...

    Issue 4:

    Modern Day:

Assassin hideout, London. Guernica watches over Charlotte whom remains in the Animus. He starts to talk of the world, observing how it is slowly sliding into chaos and that the end times have arrived. Remarking that only 'she' can save us, he puts a knife to Charlotte's throat. His hand is grabbed by Galina, who promptly throws him to the ground and breaks his fingers before torturing him to find whom he works for.

Meanwhile, in Geneva, Switzerland. My'Shell meets with a banker to discuss the accounts of Vetulus De Montanis Ltd. Apparently William Miles retains ownership, but has been receiving substantial cash deposits from a shipping subsidiary of Abstergo Industries. Seeking answers to this anomaly, the banker suggests she speak with Mr Berg whom is waiting just outside the office. Sure enough she is grabbed and taken at knife point by Berg to a side room. Berg demands to know why the money is going to the Assassins, to which she swears they do not even know about it. Berg concludes that she may not therefore actually be one of them after all. A drone watches the two of them, before Berg destroys it. Knocking My'Shell to the floor, he fights off assailants who suddenly appear. He manages to take down several, until he collapses from his wounds. He is slapped around by Jasdip Dhami, whom reveals himself as the high tech 'Assassin' of the fifth column. He warns Berg to stop pushing, or risk his daughter's life. The future and its vision belongs to 'she', and he throws Berg plummeting over a guard rail.

Back in London, the wounded Arend and Kiyoshi return to the hideout to find Galina torturing Guernica. Explaining why, Galina warns that it likely means that My'Shell is also lost to them. Charlotte remains in the Animus, but she relives a memory that is not her own...

Within a golden Isu city, Minerva, Juno and her father discuss the problem of humanity - the slave race that they created. Juno warns that they try to be like the Isu too much, and that they are a threat to be exterminated. Minerva argues back, saying that humanity is learning to sing and make art and that perhaps one day they can be treated as equals. Juno's father agrees, before he is stabbed through the head by a human servant. The human uprising begins, and filled with rage from her father's demise, Juno utilises the Koh-i-Noor to slaughter every human around them with a brilliant blue energy. Enraged she swears that they must deal with humanity by saving them from themselves. Following this revelation, Charlotte slowly emerges from the Animus, realising that Juno has been scanning her mind. She knows what Juno is planning, and states that they must warn the Templars.

In an undisclosed location, Violet and Jasdip argue over how Berg was treated, with Violet wishing that he had not been harmed so brutally. Jasdip argues that it is only Juno's will whom will see Eden reborn. At this moment Juno appears in an overhead monitor, stating that she has what she needed from Charlotte, and now knows that the Koh-i-Noor was last seen in Spain. Desmond's son is guided to a crowd of waiting Instruments, where Violet warns Juno that he is his father's son and may well betray them. Juno states not to worry, as he is just a cog in a machine, one that will turns mountains into idols.

    Issue 5:

    Modern Day:

Assassin hideout, London. Charlotte confronts a bound Guernica, and offers to get him some water despite his attempt to kill her before. In the next room, Arend is on the phone to Abstergo tech support, trying to warn them very bluntly that they have a First Civilization entity amongst their systems. Unsurprisingly they hang up on him.

Whilst Kiyoshi and Charlotte berate Arend for his literal interpretation of warning the Templars, Galina returns to the hideout with supplies and clothes. Shortly after My'Shell stumbles through the door, carrying a wounded Otso Berg. Galina immediately springs her hidden blade and floors Berg with a flying kick to the face. After Galina is restrained by Charlotte, Berg offers a suggestion that they all get breakfast together.

After a lengthy discussion, he confesses that he came across the same financial movements between the Templars and Assassins, and that the mystery third faction really is playing them all for fools. With Abstergo compromised, he cannot even trust his own faction. Kiyoshi reveals that they believe Guernica to be a member of the faction, to which Berg responds that he knows Jasdip Dhami is another - and the face behind the high tech armor set. Galina states that Jasdip went dark after exploring for Gramatica in Australia, suggesting that may be where his secret lab is. Berg laughs the suggestion off as a nice try, and argues that whilst he cannot trust the Assassins - that is exactly the reason he needs their help. Charlotte interjects, and warns them all that Juno's plan for the Koh-i-noor is moving forwards and that they need to act together and fast. Old rivalries can wait. Berg realises that the Assassins know where the Koh-i-noor is.

They return to the hideout, and Charlotte straps herself into the Animus once more. She reveals to Berg that they believe the Piece of Eden is in Spain, within the 1930s Spanish Civil War. As she enters the simulation, My'Shell confronts Guernica. It is clear she never knew his true agenda, and was never a member of the secret faction to which he belongs. She leaves the room in disgust.

    Historical Era:

Spain, April 1937. Ignacio Cardona, an anarchist and follower of Buenaventura Durruti, he is also an Assassin and ancestor to Charlotte. He walks the countryside hills in heavy rain, heading towards Barcelona with fellow soldiers. They elect to set up camp as night falls, but are suddenly ambushed by gun fire. Ignacio runs out to meet the assailants only to find that they are Republicans too, and it was a simple case of mistaken identity by child soldiers.

    Modern Day:

Berg laments that the Assassins are keeping him at arm's length whilst they scour their records for anything pertaining to 1930s Spain. He points out that the Templars have records for that period too, and after a brief philosophical discussion on the merits of the march of progress, they come across a photograph of Ignacio and his army unit. Standing next to him is a man that Berg recognises - Albert Bolden, the last Black Cross!

    Issue 6:

    Historical Era:

Barcelona, Spain - May 1937. The Assassins Ignacio Cardona and Glaucia Acosta hide out amongst the war ruined buildings. They share cigarettes whilst they discuss why Glaucia cannot sleep, as it turns out she is haunted by a recent bombing raid at the northern town of Guernica. They are interrupted by a noise, at which point Glaucia lets loose several throwing knives at an unknown man in a trenchcoat. Wounded, the man runs to the rooftops with Glaucia in pursuit. She eventually catches up with the two of them coming crashing down through a broken roof. He reveals himself to be Nobby Clarke, an Assassin sent to them from the London Brotherhood.

Safely returned to their hideout, the Spanish Assassins grill Nobby as to why he is the only backup that was sent considering how desperate they are for help. Nobby reveals that he infamously eliminated an entire Templar branch in Tallinn the previous year, which instantly wins him the approval of the Spaniards.

    Modern Day:

Charlotte desyncs from the Animus, and is violently sick. She seeks an explanation, as Kiyoshi laments that she entered the Animus too soon after Juno's attack. Charlotte feels that something forced her out of the Animus, and states that having Otso Berg watching her was not helping - and in turns asks him to leave the room. Kiyoshi escorts him upstairs, only to find Galina in the next room brutally interrogating Guernica once more. Charlotte reenters the Animus.

    Historical Era:

Ignacio requests that the team train with Nobby on the rooftop to see his skills first hand. In the mean time he ventures out to try and find new weaponry, as their current ones are in a bad state of repair. He meets Eric Blair, an englishman and member of Poum - a Spanish Marxist party. They discuss the way that the class system has reintegrated itself in the city, and how the only items for sale are non-weapons, despite the civil war still raging. Eric has some black market contacts though, and promises to introduce Ignacio to them. Shortly after entering a shop, gunshots ring out and Ignacio takes to the rooftops.

Meanwhile, Nobby and the Spanish Assassins continue to spar on the roof of their hideout, while discussing the split between the anarchists and communists within the community. At this point Ignacio runs past the group, insisting they all follow. They reach a fevered gun battle between anarchists and communists, with the team torn as to who to help with a mind to whom of the two would able to ultimately stop the fascists. Nobby offers an alternative, telling Ignacio that he can make everyone stop - and pulls the Koh-i-Noor out of his pocket. Ignacio states that he feels it calling to him and touches the diamond. Immediately his eyes glow with a blue energy, and serpent like creatures of energy emerge from the Koh-I-Noor, encircling and wrapping themselves around everyone. With blood pouring from his eyes and nose, he finds the strength to drop the diamond and passes out. From a nearby rooftop, the Black Cross observes everything that has transpired.

    Modern Day:

Charlotte begans chewing and biting her own tongue, with blood spraying onto the Animus. Arend is unsure what to do whilst she remains within the simulation, but warns My'Shell to remain back. My'Shell counters by saying he should let her through or that Charlotte will surely die.

    Issue 7:

    Modern Day:

Otso Berg and Guernica play Jenga in a room separate from the others. They discuss the state of the world, with Guernica eventually revealing the name of Juno. Otso leaves him to retrieve a package containing a DNA sample, mailed over by Andre.

Charlotte is laid out on a sofa, with various medical supplies around her. She had almost suffered a brain hemorrhage, before My'Shell managed to remove her from the Animus. Determined to get straight back in, she is stopped by Galina. Otso reveals that he has fitted Helix components to their Animus, which will now allow them to access genetic memories besides their own. The DNA sample he just received was that of Albert Bolden - the last known Black Cross. With Charlotte too weak to continue, Otso sits in the chair and enters the simulation.

    Historical Era:

Shanghai, 1927. A shot Black Cross falls from a building, a crate breaking his fall. He lays wounded, but lives.

Spain, 1937. In a hideout, Albert Bolden tends to his wounds with Ignacio sitting on a bed nearby. Ignacio appears to have amnesia, and has apparently been told of how the Black Cross survived three times now - each time ending with him attacking and failing to kill Albert. Albert reveals that he had been tracking Nobby Clarke for months, and ultimately rescued Ignacio from being made a conduit to the Koh-I-Noor, as he clearly has Precursor blood.

Albert reveals that Nobby is actually a Templar known as Rufus Grosvenor, whom had originally approached him about the diamond back in China. Fearing it was under threat, Albert hid the diamond in a safebox in a Swiss bank and went into hiding for nine years. He eventually returned home with the diamond to find his family murdered by Grosvenor, with Albert then being knocked out and the diamond stolen. Seeking revenge, Albert states that Grosvenor will have likely convinced the other Assassins against Ignacio, but that he had likely laid a trap for the two of them. Grosvenor needs Ignacio to conduit the diamond, and knowing that the Black Cross and Ignacio would come, lies in wait for their arrival with the Koh-I-Noor in hand.

    Issue 8:

    Historical Era:

Albert and Ignacio approach Grosvenor's hideout, the latter signalling from a distance that he will only allow the two of them entry and not their company of followers. With little choice in the matter, the two get down from their horses and walk towards the building. They are immediately assailed by Ignacio's former teammates, whom are all now convinced that he has in fact been turned to the Templar cause by Albert. He desperately tries to convince them that 'Nobby' is in fact the one who is lying to them, but it falls on deaf ears. They are all convinced that the gem holds the power to saving the world, and that he needs to join with it. Ignacio argues that he feels the gem is not meant for him. Albert is forced to defend himself against the inevitable attacks, with Ignacio finding himself with a knife to his throat - that of Glaucia's. She speaks of how they were never supposed to know of the gods, but now they do she simply wants to serve them as an Instrument. Albert throws his Black Cross pin, striking Glaucia in the hand before she is knocked out by Ignacio's freed elbow. The two once more head towards the central building, a run down church.

Upon entering, Grosvenor begins speaking from the rafters. He cites that the world has turned to anarchy without the guidance of the gods, and stands over a pit of numerous dead bodies. The remaining former team members enter the church, leading Ignacio and Albert to have to surrender their guns. Grosvenor tells of how his master had followed Ignacio's bloodline, hoping for optimum conditions - but the fact that he was a male was a clear failing to controlling the gem. Nevertheless, he offers Ignacio the Koh-i-Noor in the hope that he may still try. Upon touching the gem, he summons creatures of energy once more - this time bulls - at which point they stampede into the walls of the church bringing it crashing down upon all of them.

After a time later, Albert digs through the rubble, and manages to extract Ignacio from the rubble. He reveals that he also saw Grosvenor and Glaucia escape, and suspects they fled to America. Albert assumed the Koh-i-Noor was destroyed, but Ignacio reveals that he created an illusion of its destruction - and that it yet remained, buried under all of the rubble. Swearing to remain its protector, Albert dedicates himself to watching over the site. But will first help Spain save their country. He also expresses concern about the situation over in Germany...

    Modern Day:

Otso Berg emerges from the simulation. Stating that he knows where the gem is buried in Spain, he insists the Assassins get ready to travel. He mentions to look into Glaucia Acosta, as she likely went missing around the same time as the Swiss bank account was created in the 1930s. He calls Andre on his phone, as he is the only person he can trust with a secret location address that he will text him. He asks Andre to assemble a team and to watch over the site. Andre agrees to this, whilst Jasdip Dhami watches him from across the room.

Location: Redacted. Álvaro Gramática leans back in a chair, seemingly happy with the breakthroughs he is making with the Phoenix Project. He is disturbed by Violet Da Costa, whom he is surprised to see as no-one is supposed to know about the secret laboratory. She reveals that Otso was kind enough to text the address for them, and that they are there for Project Phoenix. Álvaro looks around to see the site is compromised by multiple Instruments, including Jasdip whom is clutching Andre, as well as a boy sage who happily waves to him with a smile.

    Issue 9:

    Modern Day:

    Date: Resurrection Day.
    Location: Unknown.

Charlotte stares into the Koh-I-Noor, whilst all around her is blood and the fallen bodies of Instruments and Assassins, including the slain Arend and Kiyoshi.

The humanoid form of Juno stands before Charlotte, with Elijah seemingly protected behind the Assassin. Charlotte warns Juno off the boy. Promising to deal with Elijah later, Juno relates that Charlotte smells of Consus, and summons the diamond towards her. Gripping Charlotte by the hair, she states that the human is not worthy of the Koh-I-Noor and that she has ultimately failed her comrades.

    Modern Day:

South of Barcelona, Spain. T - 3 days until Resurrection Day. Arend and Kiyoshi study the Spanish terrain, trying to find any recognizable land to help find the Koh-I-Noor. They discuss how neither of them will reach old age, and that life will constantly be in motion for the Brotherhood. An older Spanish man and woman approach them, who shortly after draw melee weapons and attempt to attack the Assassins.

Otso Berg, Galina and Charlotte continue to search the Spanish hillsides for any indications of the diamond. Charlotte mentions that she can feel something pulling her towards some nearby hills, thus they head towards them.

Arend and Kiyoshi continue to battle the old couple, whom are surpisingly well trained and adept in their combat skills. A helicopter arrives above the scene, and Jasdip Dhami leaps down to the fight vicinity, along with several members of the Instruments of the First Will - all of which are armed with assault rifles. The Assassins and old couple are forced to surrender as a result. Jasdip interrogates the older Spanish man, and finds that they are protectors of the site, originally trained decades ago by Andre Bolden and Ignacio Cardona themselves.

Charlotte collapses to the ground, her eyes glowing with blue energy. They are close now. Digging through the soil, they uncover the remains of a collapsed church. Charlotte descends down inside with Otso and Galina, where they discover a light shines amongst the darkness. Charlotte reaches out, and claims the Koh-I-Noor from the rubble. Drones hover above, and detect the three of them.

Made aware of Charlotte's location, Jasdip and the Instruments grab the hostages and make their way to the collapsed church. Kiyoshi uses a razor wire in his gauntlet to surprise the Instrument guards around him. A battle commences, with Jasdip and Otso immediately launching at each other. Charlotte holds the Koh-I-Noor tightly, and as she does so a bright blue glow emits from it, as well as from her eyes. Moments later, a blue energy explosion erupts around her, knocking down everyone.

    Issue 10:

    Modern Day:

T-2 days before Resurrection Day. 1pm, London, UK. My'Shell practices her combat techniques upon mannequins within the hideout. She heads outside to buy takeout food, and returns to feed the still captured Guernica. He questions whether she realises that the Assassins have in fact abandoned her to her fate. Not wishing to believe it and claiming he will make anything up, My'Shell is warned by him that the safehouse is a compromised location and to run while she can.

00.00am. Spain, South of Barcelona. Charlotte glows with blue energy emanating from the Koh-I-Noor, and levitates above the ground. Adjusting his visor to the light, Jasdip leaps through the light into Charlotte, knocking her away from the diamond, immediately ending the energy field around the area. He states that she must have "holy blood", and as such will not kill her as she might be of interest to Juno. Grabbing her, Jasdip calls in a mortar strike, forcing everyone to dive for cover. With fire engulfing the area, a helicopter drops a rope ladder down to Jasdip's position. Amongst the flames, one of the old protectors steps out stating that it remains his responsibility to protect the Koh-I-Noor, and in turn tries to attack Jasdip. He is rapidly killed in response by Jasdip's Hidden Blade. Charlotte tries to activate the dropped Koh-I-Noor, but is struck in the back of the head by Jasdip. Instead now electing to kill her, he leans in to strike the killing blow before the pin of the Black Cross strikes him in the face through the cheek. Otso Berg and Galina rush to Charlotte's aid, but Jasdip manages to reach the rope ladder of the helicopter with the Koh-I-Noor in hand. A time later, the remaining Assassins dig graves reflecting on the fact that they have failed to stop Juno. However, Otso is quick to point out that she does not yet have a body, and that it is time they all went to visit the Phoenix Project.

Back in London, two members of the Instruments of the First Will enter the hideout, and locate Guernica. Informing him that he is a loose end, they are quick to realise that they are not alone. My'Shell manages to surprise one of the Instruments, but ends up battling down some stairs with them. Realising his life is now on the line as well, Guernica snaps the neck of the remaining Instrument by surprising them from behind.

T-1 days before Resurrection Day. 02:47am. The Phoenix Project. Location redacted. A small female foetus grows within the lab. Violet confirms with Gramatica if it is indeed female, as the sample DNA sample was in fact taken from Elijah. Utilising the Shroud of Eden as an amniotic sac, it is accelerating the growth of the foetus exponentially with the hope that the body will be ready in 24 hours. Juno is pleased to hear that they are using Consus's own work against him. Strapped to a frame, Elijah lays in agony having had his bone marrow harvested without the use of anesthesia.

    Issue 11:

    Modern Day:

Location Redacted. Within the cells of the forming clone body, Juno converses by thought with Consus thanks to the usage of the Shroud of Eden. He warns Juno that she must know that Charlotte will stop her, but Juno dismisses the claim stating that the human is weak.

London. The Assassin hideout is engulfed in flames, as the emergency services arrive to try to contain it. Looking on from a distance, My'Shell and Guernica realise that the dead bodies of the Instruments they left inside could easily have been them. My'Shell questions whether Guernica will return to the Instruments now, but he collapses with the wounds inflicted upon him in the recent battle. As he bleeds out, My'Shell argues that his actions of cruelty can never be justified as a necessary evil. Telling him to apply pressure to the wounds, she walks away leaving him shouting for an ambulance.

Location Unknown, Abstergo jet. Arend and Kiyoshi discuss about going over to speak to Otso Berg, whom sits further down the aisle. Eventually Arend elects to walk over and sit opposite the Black Cross. Reminding Otso of Rotterdam, and the battle between them over the Precursor Box, Arend tries to tell Otso that if they make it out of their current situation alive - then they will be equal. Otso regales Arend with the story of how Finland actually switched sides three times in World War II, before slamming Arend against the wall and promising that once things with Juno are over - he will happily be slicing his throat.

Location Redacted. Violet takes a call from Otso, stating that he will arrive in six hours and she should maintain a watch on the Instruments. She checks in with Gramatica, who relays that they are well ahead of schedule with Juno's body now.

In a separate locked room, Elijah is tended to by an aide known as Richmond. Complaining that his back still hurts from the previous surgery, Elijah relates about how being a Sage allows him to access the memories and skills of the Isu scientist Aita. In doing so, after Richmond leaves, he is able to short circuit the locked door and moves deeper into the facility.

Back on the Abstergo jet, the group studies blueprints of the Phoenix Project lab and agrees to split out for infiltration. Berg and Galina will meet Violet directly, with Arend and Kiyoshi going to the south side Loading Bay. Finally, Charlotte will enter a ventilation shaft which leads directly into Gramatica's lab. As the team starts to initiate their plan, Elijah locks Richmond into a room with a clear ill intent towards him.

Within the lab, the clone body of Juno begins to speak. Surprised at the feeling of vocal chords after thousands of years, she expresses that she is finally ready to walk the earth once more.

    Issue 12:

    Modern Day:

    Resurrection Day. Australian desert.

Otso Berg, his Black Cross uniform donned, approaches the secret Phoenix Project lab amidst a heavy sandstorm. At the entrance he finds Violet Da Costa waiting, along with many armed Instruments of the First Will. Jasdip Dhami steps out to face Berg alone, and after a brief discussion, is deftly assassinated by a sniper shot to the head delivered by Galina from a distance.

Inside the labs, Richmond attempts to unlock the door that has trapped him in the room with Elijah. Elijah mentions that he remembers the day that he was taken from his mother, with her ultimately being killed. He vows revenge on the Instruments, and promptly executes Richmond with a screwdriver to the neck.

At the rear entrance to the labs, Kiyoshi and Arend engage in a fire fight with the Instruments, ultimately resorting to the use of a rocket launcher to eliminate the clustered cultists.

Back out in the sandstorm, Charlotte struggles through the winds to find a hidden hatch, and climbs into an air vent down into the labs. A blast of energy breaks the seal of Juno's tank, and she walks out into the air, remarking that the power of the Shroud infuses her body with energy. As Juno dons some robes, Charlotte leaps from the air vent above, and makes an attempt to perform an air assassination on the Isu with her hidden blade. Juno reacts in time and blasts Charlotte with energy emanating from her hands. Charlotte is suspended in the air by the power, and as Juno looks to get dressed further, Elijah approaches Charlotte whilst carrying the Koh-I-Noor. Elijah mentions that he recognised something old within her, as it was inside him. He puts the diamond to Charlotte's hand, and energy begins to fill the room with bright light. Charlotte is able to control the energy, and is able to shield her Assassin allies within the facility, by funnelling them away from the Instruments and towards the labs with walls made of energy.

Juno knocks the diamond from Charlotte's hands, as the Assassins rush into the lab. Arend and Kiyoshi are blasted by Juno's energy beams, and fall to the ground lifelessly. As Juno grabs Charlotte by the hair, she looks up and sees Consus staring back at her. He mocks her new body, stating that it is fresh but her heart is dead as a moon.

Suddenly we see Charlotte and all the assassins alive again. Juno is standing talking to a coffee cup. Charlotte is channeling an illusion into Juno's mind all of this time. Juno becomes enraged, and starts blasting at an imaginary Consus. This begins to destroy the ceiling, and the roof starts to collapse in on itself - with Grammatica killed by a falling girder. Juno finally realises it is an illusion, and reaches out to Elijah to pass over the Koh-I-Noor. At this moment, a hidden blade cuts through Juno's throat from behind, and she falls to the ground - slain by Charlotte. Elijah vows that Aita is a ghost in the wind, and that this lineage ends here. He climbs a rope and escapes out of the air vent, leaving Charlotte behind.

The remaining Assassins and Berg run out of the labs, as it slowly collapses around them. As they emerge outside, Violet and the Instruments lie in wait. Despite looking severely out numbered, Berg mocks Violet as Templar special forces surround the area. He takes Violet's gun, and shoots her through the chest, stating that before she dies she should enjoy one final show. He takes out a remote detonator, and clicks it. The lab immediately explodes, with both Charlotte and the body of Juno still seemingly inside. As the explosion erupts, in the distance Elijah walks into the desert, still clutching the Koh-I-Noor.

    Assassin's Creed: Origins

A sequel to the game itself, it will follow the early years of the Brotherhood and introduce new historical characters.

    Issue 1:

    Historical Era:

Alexandria, Egypt - 30 B.C. Cleopatra oversees the execution of an Octavian sympathiser, who warns that the Octavian army closes in on her. Knowing that the woman was walking into her death to challenge her, Cleopatra is reminded of a certain woman from long ago.

Rome - 44 B.C. Following the death of Septimius, Aya prowls the rooftops of Rome for her target, familiar to her now thanks to Brutus. The target is Magnus, an orator for Caesar, and a swift arrow from Aya eliminates him mid speech. The two would be assassins retreat to a nearby bath house where Aya scolds Brutus for trying to delay her shot upon Magnus, reminding him that she will not be spoken down to. Brutus reflects that he cannot believe that Caesar has reached the point of becoming a dictator, and hopes the orator assassination would send a clear message. Cassius arrives to relate that it did not, and that Caesar intends to cling to power. Brutus relates that he has had visions of Rome burning, and that Caesar should now die. Aya desires to kill him immediately, but Cassius and Brutus argue that Romans respond to spectacle - and must wait for the Ides of March for the assassination.

Aya walks across Rome, observing slavery, oppression and poverty around her. She misses Egypt, but knows that she must also save those around her now. She encounters Mark Antony, who politely advises that he knows of her via Cleopatra and warns that leaders always do what they must.

The Ides of March arrives. In their home, Caesar is warned by his wife to abandon his decision to go to the Senate that day, and that Cleopatra might try to stop him. He relates that he fears no-one and leaves to prepare.

Brutus tries to give Aya his dagger for the act, but she tells him to keep it. The two arrive at the Senate, where Caesar makes his address to the senators. Aya, dons a nearly gown raising it above her head like a hood. With his back turned to her, she strikes Caesar with her hidden blade. So begins the assassination, with each senator one by one stabbing him until finally Brutus brings forth his dagger and delivers the killing blow. Word reaches the public outside, and Mark Antony warns Aya that Brutus has made a mistake - things are now about to get much worse.

    Issue 2:

    Historical Era:

Alexandria, Egypt - 30 B.C. Caesarion, son of Cleopatra, practices his combat skills with a soldier. The soldier easily knocks Caesarion to the floor several times in front of Cleopatra. She comforts her son by telling him that every defeat is a chance to learn towards a victory. They are interrupted by the sight of fires in the distance, as Octavian's army closes in.

Rome, 44 B.C. Three hours after Caesar's death. The city erupts in violence and shock at the news. Mark Antony seizes the opportunity, addressing the crowds and telling them to take revenge on the senators who have stolen Caesar from the people. One of the senators is captured by the crowd, and is brutally beaten. Aya watches on from a nearby rooftop, and is disgusted by what she sees, and fires an arrow from her bow to release the senator to a quick merciful death. Roman soldiers spot her, and she is wounded in the arm by a glancing arrow. With the crowd in pursuit of her, she manages to lead them away, before eventually returning to Mark Antony. She pleads to him to calm down the crowds, but he merely states that he cannot without bringing Brutus to them for justice. As the crowd returns, they give chase to Aya once more and she is forced to flee again. Climbing an aqueduct, the Roman soldiers climb up to find her, forcing her to engage in a melee battle. Heavily outnumbered, she eventually gets knocked down - smacking her head against the stonework. Collapsing unconscious into the running water, she is swept away by the current.

A time later within a storeroom, Aya is awoken by a splash of water, and finds herself in front of Brutus and Cassius with her wounds bandaged. Brutus mentions that he is happy they found her before Mark Antony, and that he regrets not killing him. Aya retorts that killing in public was a terrible plan for Caesar's assassination, and pulls out Brutus's knife, holding it to his throat. Cassius interjects advising that it would be in their best interest to leave whilst soldiers hunt for them.

They leave together, and walk along the aqueducts at nightfall. Brutus relates that he has had a vision and must now make his way to Crete. As they walk, a crowd surrounds an old woman below. Fearing an innocent may be about to die, Aya tells Brutus to follow his vision, but that her purpose remains in saving Rome. She performs a Leap of Faith, and engages the crowd.

    Issue 3:

    Historical Era:

Alexandria, Egypt 30 B.C.E. Cleopatra finds her son Caesarion looking to the horizon, as Octavian's men close in. As their bodyguard advises them to stay in place, he walks away to investigate a noise. Suddenly an assailant rushes towards Cleopatra, leaving Caesarion to defend her and ultimately kill the would-be assassin. The bodyguard returns shortly after, and believing him to have been partly behind the assassination attempt, Cleopatra goads her son into killing the guard too.

Meanwhile, nearby an old dog walks the streets and looks up with recognition in its eyes towards someone familiar.

Rome, 44 B.C.E. Aya lays in a caged cell, having survived the brawl with the locals. A young dog comes up to the bars of the cell, and is provided with a small bowl of water by Aya. Mark Antony arrives to question her, and wants to know where Brutus is hiding. She refuses to betray Brutus, and is promptly lead away.

With her hands bound, she is plunged into a watery arena. The crowd elect to release hippos into the water, in a hope to execute her. The animals instantly charge her through the water, but she manages to release her bindings against the stone corner of a pillar. Finding a nearby stone shard, she manages to battle under water and mortally wounds one hippo, before a second savages an injury to her shoulder with its maw. Escaping to the surface of the water, Aya narrowly avoids a hail of arrows that rains down around her, which ultimately takes down the nearest hippo. Brutus and Cassius dive into the water and escape with Aya through the tunnel which the hippos had entered from.

Out of the water, Aya expresses surprise that they returned for her. With her wound worsening, they note pursuers coming towards them, and elect to burn nearby tapestries, which they throw over the entrance, before making their escape outside. Once they reach the sunlight, they are immediately surrounded by Mark Antony and a mob of warriors.

    Issue 4:

    Historical Era:

Alexandria, Egypt. 30 B.C.E. Octavian's army continues to close in on Cleopatra. As she engages in tactical discussions with her closest advisors, the sounds of fighting begin outside of the nearby doorway. Suddenly the doors smash wide open...

Rome, 44 B.C.E. Aya, Brutus and Cassius remain surrounded by the mob lead by Mark Antony. A battle commences, with the mob easily outmatched by the proto Assassins. Brutus knocks Mark Antony to the ground, and holds a blade over him whilst remarking that he had turned his back on the Roman Republic. Aya warns Brutus that he had pledged to save the Roman people, and by killing Antony, he would condemn them all to fear. Brutus smashes the blade in frustration upon the ground, as Aya helps Mark Antony to his feet.

Later that day, Aya and Brutus discuss the situation in Rome atop an aqueduct. He acknowledges that he must leave the city now, and intends to make for Crete. He urges Aya to create a new Bureau, and to lead it correctly from the shadows. Aya gifts him a specially made blade for his travels. Aya recalls, as history recorded, that Brutus never returned to Rome, and was eventually tracked down and killed by Mark Antony's allies in Macedonia. Though rumours suggest he may have in fact have survived under another alias.

Aya takes on the name of Amunet, reflecting her new status as The Hidden One. Caesar's adopted son, Octavian, takes over the power vaccum left in Rome. His influence eventually spread to other countries, such as Egypt...

Alexandria, Egypt. 30 B.C.E. With the doors wide open, Cleopatra's guards rush out and are summarily killed by an unseen assailant. A fearless Caesarion runs out into the fray, and is knocked unconscious. Cleopatra calls out to Octavian to show himself, but in response Aya emerges from the shadows to confront her. Cleopatra believes her son killed, and tries to strike Aya, but her blow is blocked. Aya warns that she did not kill Caesarion, but that if Cleopatra does not step down from power Octavian would likely kill them both before long. She argues that Egypt suffers under a needless war, and for the good of the country Cleopatra should surrender. Cleopatra reluctantly agrees, on condition that Aya take Caesarion safely away to train with her. Aya gives a small potion bottle to Cleopatra. A short time later, Cleopatra sits upon her throne, and orders her generals to stand down. She drinks the potion, and slumps to the ground in death.

On a nearby boat, Aya reunites with Phoxidas and sails away from the area. An unconscious Caesarion regains his bearings, and realises that he is leaving Egypt. Aya tells him to keep Egypt in his heart, for they are to travel to other places where they will remain in the shadows.

I personally think that Charlotte is a female sage or something similar. Like maybe Juno during the First Civ timeframe tried to use the method which gave birth to the sage either before the death of Aita or after and it resulted in a a sage that was more human and less First Civ, but more than the average hybrid like Desmond.

Just added an update for the newest Assassin issue, #6.

Few brief thoughts - It is fascinating to see a direct link being made between Consus and Erudito here. Several people have pointed out the "Erudite God" line before, but it is nice to see a direct relation here. Has Erudito been acting on Consus's behalf for some time? Very interesting, and makes you look again at the group's previous actions.

It is progressing well so, far, for the first time, the ancestor from the past is neither an assassin or templar, The Erudito, consus links are quite interesting too

So in the first issue of the new Assassins Creed Templar comic, Daniel Creig or at the least someone who looks a great deal like him shows up in the background:

Anyways, speaking of the issue, I was kind of disappointed that there's no modern day element like in the main Assassins Creed comic series. I had been hoping that perhaps we could have the modern day guy from AC Rogue show up. Oh well I guess. It was still a good issue regardless, although the dialogue can at times be weird and hard to understand, though its more trying to reflect the way people talked back in the twenties, but it comes off as confusing and weird.

Yup, he looks a lot like Daniel Craig, I actually like the concept of Black Cross, a powerful guy within the Templar Order, who is 'Assassin' like, who rids the order of corruption. Haytham makes a great Black Cross
