Birds Of Prey has been very busy lately.New pilots are discovering the server and bringing their buddies along with them to have a good time. We are pleased to also say that 99.9 percent of the pilots that fly on Birds of Prey are respectful, and very very good pilots that set the standards for good sportsmanship and contribute to the pleasant atmosphere on the server. Unfortunately we get a pilot that just wants to stir up trouble from time-to time. If it is not a team killer, it is someone that claims that the pilot that just shot him down is flying a so-called uberplane. But a first on the server, according to my memory, just happened today. There was a pilot on the server that seemed to be having some difficulty with stutters. His callsign is a play of a popular character from Star Wars. He was the only one complaining and then he tried to get other pilots to join him on another server that I will not mention by using open chat. His attempt was fruitless and no one wanted to leave the with him. I promptly logged on as admin and attemped to communicate to him on chat in order to help him resolve any issues and was ignored. A few moments later the pilot left the server. If you join the Birds Of Prey server for the first time or are new to the server, all we ask is that you respect the server. Be respectuful to all on the server and work with the admins. We are there to help you enjoy your online experience. If you have issues, just talk to us. We will actually listen to you and enjoy imput to help improve the server. The success that Birds of Prey is enjoying is due to suggestions we get from our clients and the admins working with them.
Salute to all and enjoy the server.

I haven't been able to fly for almost a week now, but can say that there was a similar character on last week that did almost the same thing. (At the risk of reprimand I'll say his name as it seems relevant. It was something like Olli-wan or very similar) He was warping badly and after a short period he left.

I played BoP server last night for the first time and really enjoyed my stay! There seemed to be a high percentage of airfield strafing noobs.. but hey, they made for tasty snacks before moving on to the rest of the mission!

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

There was one malcontent on last night and I tried to just keep things light hearted and fun, despite his sour-puss attitude. Everyone else seemed to be having a good time, though!

Seriously.. great server! I specifically liked the icon settings, the varied plane sets and lack of deathkick. You can use your virtual-pilot's "experience" to identify friendlies quickly but have to pick out the bad guys manually (which is tough against some of the morning/haze!).

Had a fantastic time. Of course, I was loopy on hydrocodone.. so that may have impaired a fair assessment. Hehe..

Thanks for the heads up I'll check the servers IP log and see if it is the same individual. Thats if his IP hasn't changed. Intresting play on the starwars characte. The guy I mentioned had a different callsign though. But he is a main character in the first three episodes. He was killed in Return of the Jedi. But made an appearance in episode 1

My experience of BoP has been somewhat discouraging.

I got fairly whopped by the host and made the comment about my surprise at the tight turning of the P38. The host came back with "You're a **** flyer and I'm just great". One STFU comment from me to this arrogance and I was banned!

BoP may be a good server, but whoever runs it or has administrative privelages is boardering on megalomania. Keep this in mind if you fly on BoP and play it real cool. Finally, if you think I'm a whining so-and-so, take a look at my post history, and you'll see that this is the first 'complaint' I've made in nearly two years on the forums. I don't make it lightly.

HOST usually doesn`t fly http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
I guess i can call myself one of the regulars @BOP, and must say that HOSTs in there are very polite and willing to listen, even to my annoying whining http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

For the past month i had only 1 unplesent experiance there when some kid started massive TKing and was eventually kicked out and banned. Other then that, top notch crowd.

Cheers!

Jumped into BoP on my lunch break and the settings seemed to be a little different.. no minimap path and total removal of all icons.

The server was 16 red vs. 3 blue (come on fellas.. that's just rediculous) so I logged in as blue and flew around for 20 minutes listening to the red fellas continuously yell at one other to stop shooting at friendlies over the chat box before the server reset the map (bleh!). So, I went elsewhere, having flown for all that time by dead reckoning and having not seen a single enemy the entire time. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

It was so fun last night! I was kind of bummed.

But, there were 19 people logged in, so it must be appealing to enough people. I'll keep poking my head back in here and there to see what the settings look like, but I have to be honest and admit that I really don't find the zero icon settings all that enjoyable.. the no-enemy icon settings (except for point-blank aircraft-ID) from last night were a blast. You could actually hide/lose your enemy in the clutter but your "virtual" self would be able to I.D. friendly aircraft at reasonable ranges where the computer pixelation isn't able to provide adequate visual feedback.

Best of luck with your server!

Regards,

~T.

I think they made a boo-boo with icons lol.. they wanted to shorten friendly icons to 2-3k or whatever...instead disabled them all http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

No minimap!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

K I just checked the Icon settings. They were the same as last night. Also we never touched the minimap path. I think you were on the wrong server. But if anyone else was on the server at the same time and noticed the same thing and can varify it is the same server.

Hi OSIRISX9 I tryed BOP today, for the first time in a while, and to be honest I found the settings easier that most cockpit locked servers, only becasue of one reason, friendly icons are on and so all friendlys show up blue(i USALLY FLY AXIS) when close in and from a certain range black and the pilots names signature, personally I would prefer this to be turned off,it makes it easier to identify bogeys ImHO, but I realise you cant please everyone and other popular servers will fill the void for what I prefer, also the 2 missions I played both teams, had only 1 airbase each which tended to lead to alot of vulching as there was little AA at both bases, also I had a little lag issue even though I was pinging to the server at 113, heard other people complain about a little lag , maybe you guys can check into it,I dont think its a major issue,Just thought I would post my thoughts, aLL in all I had a blast keep the good work up
Regards
Stein

edit: After reading posts above I just to make sure i have the correct server 69.9.37.146:2100 ? LOL!

Logged into BoP again tonight but was the only one in there.. so I practiced my ground attack for three missions. Wound up with 2300 points for my trouble! Hehe..

Might want to think about possibly including a little more AAA around the mission objectives (airfields especially).

I was able to loiter around in my P38 or P47 and leisurely pick off the targets because nothing was firing back at me. Even when I was practicing attacking the airfield from 2-3km dive bombing, there was only one AAA unit (and a couple of flaks, I think) that were real easy to nail with rockets.

Anyhow.. just food for thought. Thanks for even having the server to play on! I've enjoyed it.

Best,

~T.

All I can say is the Birds of Prey is an outstanding server that has given me hours of enjoyment. I also appreciate the fact that the admins are willing to listen to suggestions from the people using the server and won't get snippy with you.

Again thanks for the outsanding server!

I flew one mission in there (got the track if anyone would like to see it): flew a 109G, bagged a spit and a p-38 and landed in a very shot up state. Got 300 points for that, I don't know where the extra 100 bonus points came from, but i'm not complaining! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
