I'm not a sound expert at all, so this is all speculation and wishful thinking, but here's an idea:

Modern sims almost all use some type of AI radio chatter (take FB for example) to increase immersion. Of course the obvious next step is to increase the type and depth of this chatter, but what about going a step further.

What if the player could sample his own voice, and his friends voices; and these tones and inflections could be transfered to the 'canned' AI voice files (by some type of modulation to modify the voice files?). In the game, you would hear your friend's voice calling out for help, or congratulating you. It wouldn't have to be a 'perfect' recreation, as anyone who's used radio's of this era it is often dificult at best to identify the voice on the other end.

Just a thought. If done reasonably well, would be an excellent utility for ANY offline and many online styles of games.
