What's new in the IL-2 air racing world ? Have the new aircraft from AEP made an appearance yet, and what's the favorite ride nowadays ?

Check out www.Il2airracing.com (http://www.Il2airracing.com) for everything you need to know. And it looks like the 190 A9 and the P51 get alot of attention. They just got everyone to convert over to AEP a couple of weeks. It still is really alot of fun.

Racing is gaining more and more popularity recently. It's an excellent league and great fun. I would definately encourage anyone who hasn't experienced racing to give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Yeah I tried a test run...much more friendly than the insanity in some games.

The track I was flying around on was pretty tight...the YP-80 was bad because to stay on the track you'd black out on the turns and crash.

It's just as big a waste of time as ever.

I mean, these planes were designed for combat. Why waste time treating them like some kind of barnstorming Tonka Toy???

Effort better spent designing historical scenarios...oh, I forgot; that's a dirty word around here...

Capt._Tennal;
Air Raciing is still alive and well and more exciting than ever with the AEP. What a perfect place to fly the 109Z! Who cares that it's overmodeled? When everyone flys one it breaks down to indiviual skill and racing luck. Here the La7 has never been uber because it's just another racer. Jets aren't raced often as they are tempermental beasts, but race them we do on occasion. There are a large variety of fun and challenging race courses as well. There is always new blood in the leauge. If your interested click the link in my sig and find out what's happening.

Stigler,
The fastest of the Reno air Racers are WW II aircraft. Oleg designed the game to be enjoyed by everyone interested in flying propeller driven aircraft. Now early jets too. Air Racing is far from a waste of time. I've learned much about CEM and the flying characteristics of a/c I wouldn't have gotten around to flying for a long time, if ever.
Besides, after a hard day of killing those poor helpless pixels, some time spent air racing is very relaxing. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
I'm an avid "historical" flyer but the real beauty of this game is the many different ways you can use it. I'd be willing to bet that Oleg wasn't thinking of IL-2 as anything but the best WWII flight sim made and look what happened...non-violent air racing. (Not that there aren't a fair share of mid-air collisions mind you). Lighten up a bit and give it a try. You might be surprised.

Finally I haven't found a nicer bunch of guys, outside of my squad, to fly with. All of them real gentlemen.
