Yesterday I went on a FR server and 'cause the host ask me "go red please" I went to browse

VVS planes for choosing one. I like good firepower so after a lot of hesitation I selected

P47 D-27 although having only one ride in the bird in QMB I have strange feeling, actually I

felt like already dead meat..But all went surprisingly good, take off was a breez, getting

to alt was little sluggish but at 20 000 feet the ride was GREAT. Going 360 IAS, looking

DOWN on little LW planes, then shalow dive, friendly icons were on (2km) so I did't bother

about shooting friendly, convergence set at 200 m and here we went! Two, maybe three short

bursts from mighty eight Brownings and message appeared "Pilot killed" and shotrly after

"Enemy AC destroyed". Never before I got a kill in FR so easily! It seems that Thud is real

killer if flown to its strenghts, no LW AC (except of Me262) can outdive you and hardly any

can follow your dive if you're in need of separation. But if you are caught shorty after

take off or before landing, slow and low then the best move is BAIL OUT immediately!

maybe first time I flew P-47 on FR server I shot down 3 Bf109G-6 and one poor Brewster. Just climb well over them and give ´em hell! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

-------------

"The picture repeats itself when operations, which began with great intent and local successes, degenerated into senseless, wild hammering at fixed front-line positions once they encounter initial heavy losses and unforeseen situations. This incomprehensible phenomenon appears again and again. But, even in extremis, the Russian is never logical; he falls back on his natural instinct, and the nature of the Russian is to use mass, steamroller tactics, and adherence to given objectives without regard to changing situations."

German 9th Army report after repulsing the Soviet offensive "Mars" in Rzhev bulge, December 1942.

Helps to bring a wingman too. Increases survivability tenfold.

100% true. If you are two , you will return to base in most cases. If not ... then stay up there!

as an FYI, a P-47 Thunderbolt isn't a Thud. Totally different aircraft.

About after 30 minutes I puked all over my airplane. I said to myself "Man, you made a big mistake." -Charles 'Chuck' Yeager, regards his first flight

now fly it against a still i153 i16 il2 or any russian wood, shoot the plane at your exact convergence setting and see how much ammo it takes to shoot down the plane, compair that the the p40s 6 50s

and 1+2 are assigned to joybutton one
