In FB AEP QMB I flew a Me110 with extra gunpods against a IL2 fieldmodel. The reargunner is in the open, poor fellow.
I hit him with a two projectiles in the chest but he was still shooting.
And the arrows for projectiles (arcade mode) that he shoot at me stopped some 1/2 from my cockpit. In a Me109 you would get the messag Pc.
Is this a bug

Yes, I always said that AI bomber gunnery is overmodelled. Got flamed by a bomber freak, so never mentioned it again.

For the IL2 gunner hits, he could've been wounded but not dead. I know this doesn't make much sense considering he took 2 in the chest, but it happens. I've had times where I took 3 or 4 bullets as a pilot and lived. Depends on caliber and velocity I suppose. Do u know which gun type you hit him with? Was it a direct hit, i.e. the bullet didnt travel through another part of the plane first?

I hit it from 150-200m and used a Me110 with extra gunpods on. The gunner sits in the open and the projectiles didnt hit anything before the gunner.
If im not mistaken, the calibre is 12mm or 20 mm and thoose projectiles are leathal in the chest. And I dont think anybody would shoot if they where hit anywhere.
I have seen the sign headshoot from a Fortress reargunner. Perhaps the damagemodel for the IL2 should be revisited.
The whole plane is extreamly durable. One wing can take more than 10 hits from a FW190 and still fly on.
Perhaps it is the delta-wood.

Learn to shoot.
FW, Bf110 are deadly against IL2. I'm an IL2 driver and I have learned this on the hard way.Tip:

if target == IL2 /* define IL2 generic */
{if flyBf110 then
load 2x108
else
flyFW /* any version should do it */
}
