Howdy!

I've been playing this game now for a few months solid and have tampered with the range settings on the MG's & Cannons, 400, 350 and 300 (which I've got em on now). I don't play much online and wondered what you guys set yours on, and why ?

also,

I've heard of old spitfire pilots that had them set at 150m, yet I can't seem to get close enough to bombers without eating lead at this sort of range.

I must say,

Top notch entertainment!!

I used to have em at 150m from the start. The better You are as a pilot the smaller the values, in theory... ..Thats why I moved to Mg 260/Cannon 270.

Also the 10m difference in convergence compensates my poor shooting with some extra ammo. When shooting with Cannons&MG Ill get quickly the effective area by checking what am I hitting the enemy with http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

On the other hand, there is this guy in our squad that has shot down planes from 1km. So, if youre really exceptional gunner then go for the larger values. Use the QMB to find your style. Its an important setting to get right.

And oh, youre not supposed to fly close behind bombers that spit lead your way. Make it quick sweep and preferably form an angle they cant get you.

EDIT: Start finding the values by setting distance icons on (and maybe recording on for later inspection). Then just check the distance at the time You usually like to start spraying. Put these values as the basis for the rest of the tuning. Just remember the more you can keep the finger itching off the trigger the more damage you will make.

You mean convergence range, right? Obviously, if you're going for bombers, they are bigger targets that shoot back, so you would want to start hitting them at a greater distance. 300-350m would be about right. For dogfighting you will get closer to a smaller target therefore 150-200m would be in order. I personally leave the cannons at 200m and MG's at 150m. Works for me.

I wouldn't join any club that would have ME as member!

For bomber intercept missions I set at 250-350, for fighter intercept 180-250, for ground attack I set MG at fighter range and cannon at 320-350.

The varied range is a result of choosing slightly different settings depending on what aircraft I'm flying myself. Tight turning aircraft I generally set it closer.

hmmm...100M for MG and CANNON against all planes..maybe i'll increase it a bit to 120 or 130...

i really like to get as close as possible for maximum damage (and still i miss often, due to an aging joystick http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif )

but the further away, the weaker and more dispersed your bulletstream will be...
