...The one with no palm trees, for us low-end-system people. I love the Pacific map and the QMB missions for it, but the palm trees are a real FPS killer, especially for the base attack missions. I don't think any new templates would need to be created. (I think the work of creating all the templates is the reason we don't get new maps for the QMB. I'm almost certain that the templates are created manually, and not generated "on-the-fly".)

For those interested, it's relatively easy to substitute the No-Trees map for the one with the palm trees, without using the destruction tool:

-Open a regular Pacific mission file in notepad.
-edit the second line that reads "MAP Net8Islands/load.ini" to "MAP Net8Islands/load_v2.ini"
-Save in notepad. Then open the mission in the FMB, save the mission.

The palm trees will be gone, except for a few at the horseshoe island and at the bases.

I would guess that the Maddox guys have the tools to make this change relatively easily, so we'd get a new QMB map. Actually, just a more playable version of an existing map for us low-end guys.

Look in my sig and go to UberDemon's website and download the latest UQMG. In case you dont know it gives you full mission power with quick mission ease.

Been using UQMG since it came out and it's great, but:
- it hasn't been updated to use the the new Pacific map yet. (or have I missed an update?)
- the QMB templates are alot richer in objects and flight paths than UQMG.

Bearcat, he's not talking about a 'new' map with new missions. So your hint is a bit out of place here.

All he asks is to allow us to play the already exisiting quick missions on the almost identical map that was created to improve frame rates. I think that's a very good idea and it should be very easy to integrate this variation of the Pacific map into the QMB.

The idea gets my vote.

So a 2,8GHz AMD with 1GB of 333 RAM and a 9800 is low end. At least the full pacific DF map is the most demanding map so far. Even the big finland map and berlin runs at better fps.

If this is as easy to do as I think it is, then why not? In other words, ...BUMP!
