Well, I just got back from Quakecon. I got to spend about 15 minutes with a build of Pacific Fighters. Luthier was actually there showing me the games features. He even let me mess around in the full mission builder. First of all, the game rocks, the water looks amazing and the plane models and cockpits look top notch. I was really impressed. I got to fly the Corsrair, the Seafire, and the SBD. Also, I got to fly the Pearl Harbor and Midway maps. It looked great although Luthier said it looked even better in the current build. When in the FMB the maps I remember seeing were Midway, Iwo, Okinawa, Palau, Coral Sea, and Wake Island. There were a couple others but I forgot what they were. Luthier pointed out some of the ground objects available. They're pretty cool. There are even decoy japanese planes that can be set out to fool Allied Bombers. I recomend that anyone that can make it up to Dallas come, I would try and get up their today because luthier will be there to show you all the cool stuff. Pretty much the whole game is accessible and Luthier is a really nice guy. He's extremely patient and even offered me a piece of gum because my breath stank from the free pizza. Maybe next year a couple of people from the forums can have an IL2 LAN at Quakecon.

"my breath stank from the free pizza" = a little a too much information... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Anyway - very jealous here. Very jealous. I hope they upload some videos like they did for Lo-Mac so we can all get a feel for how the game looks in motion.

Well, the B-29 wasn't flyable but there was an AI one. Sorry, I forgot my camera so I won't be able to take videos. All I can tell you is that the game looks great, especially with the Geforce 6800 Alienwares being used. The textures and 3D models are extremely sharp. The only bad thing is that I wasn't used to the joystick they had there so I was crashing the plane constantly. Sorry about the pizza breath comment, I'm strung out on Bawls energy drink. And I almost forgot, Ilya said the game should be done in a couple of weeks and will ship in the middle of October.

Your tale is disturbing except for the expected release in mid-October! that part is good.

If you go, really look at the FMB. See if there are any new waypoint types, ability to group objects, controls for some objects, timeouts for ship guns so we can have surpriose attacks, etc.

Geez, I know, I'm just interrogating you here! I apologise if you really didn't take notice.

Well, Quakecon is extremely loud. You can hardly hear someone screaming into your ear at the vender booth so I couldn't really couldn't tell the sound quality. The maps seemed large, I don't really make missions in the FMB so this is the wrong person to ask about new options. Hopefully someone more competent than myself can make the trip up to Quakecon. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif
If someone else can make it to Quakecon has alot of stuff. Someone with a camera could make a pretty comprehensive preview. I can't convince my stepdad to drive me back to the Gaylord or I'd do it myself.

Thanks for the report.

How did the game run? What kind of comp did they have?

I did went there and play for 5 hours (most time testing it and check everything) One great candy is noseart bmp that you can change nose art but on A-20 right now. I saw nose art on B-29 in video. Tell you truth...it is still in development stage that wasn't perfect like try fly Betty or Val but you get weird half done cockpit that I have to fly them in no cockpit. Any questions? I already write down what I saw in there. Remember it is not full ready but enough to see some features in there. Also B-29's biggest bomb load is a single 2000lbs

I write down a lot, when I get home to start report...I start think I may spoil surprise if tell too much. I though art nose bmp was very neat as can change it. Also it is still in "Demo" stage so may still more to add in.

C'mon, just a little more info - you don't have to give the game away but the odd story or observaton would be nice.

Any new flak guns? I'm especially interested to hear if there's a Japanese Type 88 75mm in the FMB?

Well, there wasn't a flyable PBY and Ilya didn't seem sure it would make it in. Also, Ilya mentioned that this was an old build of the game although I don't know how old. And, for an odd story... Well, Near the Nvidia booth there was this hot chick wearing a skimpy outfit. She was handing out keygrips, I guess you put them on your keyboard for grip http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif
Anyway, everytime she gave it to a guy she'd drop it and..well..you'd get a sneak peak. I saw her doing this about 5 times before I saw the new Call of Duty multiplayer booth. Well, Probably shouldn't be posting this but you said you wanted an odd story. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/88.gif

I see no ladies around like you talk about but lot of kids wear quakecon t-shirts. Everyone so busy watch/play Doom 3. Yes, there was a "Call of Duty" booth look like WWII HDQ housing with camoflage net over it.

Will do tomorrow...I will have to create in FMB since QMB not have carrier there. Also I don't see any Destroyer in FMB in demo PF and I only see flyable Torpedo bombers is Il2-T, He-111 and without-cockpit Betty. For, Val don;t have cockpit ready yet so I fly it without cockpit as it only carry 1 250 x 2 60. no other fancy for Val but maybe will add later in full PF. Betty have wide choice of bombs even have 16x 50 Inc, max bomb load is 1X 800 or Type 9 torpedo. Avenger carry frighting wide choice of bombs and rockets plus MK 13 torpedo.
