I'm always in there when i fly. Usualy red side is packed, and often blue is too. But lately both channels are dead, as not alot of the regulars are showing up.

I got on several times. The last time, there were about 8 on the red team comms and even asking repeatedly (nicely, mind you) exactly where the ground targets were so I could drop my 2 1000 lb eggs (both in the chat window x5 _and_ on the voice comms), I got no response. It took 20 minutes before our very own Locust got on and gave me a heads up.

So http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif thumbs up to Locust, but those other guys ("regulars"?) were just...not as friendly (felt like I was busting into a clique or something).

Harumph.

Use the built-in comms. Get a friend to help tweak. Its not bad, uses hardly any bandwidth, and simplifies everything.

Dont mind at all Locus. Infact i was glad to see you post about it. The use of the TS server goes in spurts. I dont get it myself. We all have a great time when using the TS server. I see a lot of people join the server and leave as fast as they joined. I personally dont get it. But to each their own. Its there for all to use. Hope to see more of you in the TS server.

Baldie, does the server have to traffic the voice comms packets. That would be the killer right there. No need to tax the server anymore then needed. If the server has to handle all that data, i can only imagine what it will do to it if 30 players are using in game comms.

JG14 has two Teamspeak servers provided by our members.

Personally I like to keep voice communication limited to the rotte level and on occasion
when we are really able to get into the teamwork it is usefull to have voice commmunication on the schwarm level.

My experience with too many players on voice communication is that the tactical tool is rendered useless leaving only the strategic element available and only when the team is disciplined enough to limit usage for that specific purpose.

Having said all that it sure does make for an increase in the fun factor when many players are connected on voice. The banter can be quite entertaining.

On occasions when our teamspeak server is filled with players having fun; my tendency is to shut up and cover, looking for drags. The trouble is however that my ability to dicipline myself goes out the window when I lose sight of my wingman.

Voice communication is a big help either way when flying on-line for fun and or for working an effective team.

When flying with an effecive wingman using voice communication it is difficult to watch the text messages. It takes a lot of concentration to keep track of your wingman and the enemies headings, altitudes, attitudes, intentions etc.

1. Communications with teammates adds so much to the sim, it's hard for me to fathom not using it.

2. It is a total blast meeting some of the mooks that fly there, and post here regularly.

3. You would be surprised what little tricks you can pick up from time to time from other people.

4. There is nothing more satisfying than dragging a guy for a teammate that comes in from nowhere to ruin your enemy's day.

5. Its fun to complain when "You is wronged" by a plane doing something you didnt suspect he could do.

That's why I use WC TS when I am flying that server... BTW it's the best!

SITH,

is there a psossibility your comms werent working properly that night????

everybody is friendly there, although some ARE quiet and wont say a thing the entire time on lol, just listening to the meat of the information.

my comms get dropped from time to time, i.e cats pull out mic plug just a tiny bit, forget to actually go to red teams channel, forget to load my x45 profile for comms, or possible setting reconfigured for something else (surround sound) rather than headphones.

anything like that can result in you hearing US, but not us hearing YOU! if in doubt, ask if they hear you in TS,thru the FB text message field. if they say yes, maybe they were engaged with a fighter, as sometimes it takes a while to gain SA, the enemies SA, E, prop pitch,..then have to spurt out where the bombing area is.

if they say "NO" then you have to do some digin to find out the problem why we cant hear you.

also, some people (NOT ALL!!) dont like having to tell players were the target location is beacuse ..........WARCLOUDS provides it FOR YOU at the MISSION LOADING SCREEN... ALWAYS READ!! NEVER skip thru! it may LOOK like the same map...BUT IT COULD/HAS CHANGE/D!

come on in waters fine, see you in there..

(edit).. after taking another look, i noticed i didnt read YOUR POST correctly.. as a last ditch effort....maybe the guys on DIDNT know the target area (should have)..and couldnt tell you..yes yes its 2004, but communication mistakes still happen

S!,
I love the fact that Sparx is as generous as he is. The ability to use comms is a must in full real servers. Not only do you protect one another, plan and execute flights, and build online friendships, it's just plain fun http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The online voice does add to the immersion for me. Many times you'll hear a voice mate screaming for help...'Get this bandit off of me!!!' LOL, I'm only too glad to help out too. You can then speak to that pilot and direct him to move his AC to a position where you can clear his six. Fantastic fun.

I hope to be back online in the next couple of days to hear fellows celebrate as we send another 'Stang' into the dirt http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Speeder I know that sometimes we forget to read the brief but thoes vets on the com's expect people to read the brief & it does tell you where the targets are at....

When I first got interested in flying @ WC44+ & using the Sparx's com's The first thing I tryed to do was be very friendly myself & try my best to give others wingman cover as best as possibal, when the guys that are there see your a team player & have good sence they will warm up to you real fast, untill then its kind of like a initation but Im sure you will do fine just keep showing up m8, Everyone loves a ground pounder & thats what Im doing in there 50% of the time... Roger that Josf, the fact is that the Vetrans know that they can keep there coms Short & brief & it can still be very very effective, also 3/4 of the time Im simply listening...
and learning about the battle then using that info to attack from an advantage, also we use it quick & fast to coordinate massive Ground pounding runs.... here is a fine exzample & wish it could happen more alot more often...

Were @ WC44+ we had 6 or so on TS on red chanel

Red was on defense to protect a target but us 6 decided we wanted to realy hurt the blues so we all took p38J 2x1000, 10xHVAR rocket & one took p51d20, we all took off, circled base, formed up on the flight leader wich was Sgt.Pepper, He led the motley crew safeley to the enemy base wich was a very long way around, as we made our final approach Pepper gave orders he would strike left side of the base aaa/flack then each in order of flight would slide right & take the middle & right & the others would slam anyone on the deck, while the p51 gave us valuable top cover & he proved invaluable as he saved a few of us.

That flight was Pure Majic everything went as planed we dominated there base took all there flack/aaa OUT killed 10/15 Pilots on the deck maybe more, It was awsome since then I havent had that experiance again & it would NEVER have happened without Comms. I look foward to the next flight led by Sgt.Pepper of corse the Blue team was very mad @ us but thats the name of the game when you have communication & orginazation & everyone is a teamplayer & not an individual........

All your base belong to US http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/10.gif

BTW, I read the brief, knew the quadrant (southern part of K-14 or something like that), just couldn't find them. Finally, Locust said the ground targets are on the road at the "Y"...that's all I needed to know.

I have a tough enough time picking out air targets, let alone ground targets. I asked, very nicely, and simply for a clearer location (I did it in chat 4 or 5 times and on TS 2-3 times). I felt like I was ignored. When Locust showed up, he responded via chat and to get on TS...I told him I already was. From then on in, he was talking me in ON THE TS SERVER (so I know I was being heard) and we flew one bomb run together (that was fun!).

It was a bit discouraging, but I will always try to use comms to achieve the mission because I believe like Fehler does (all his points). I'll be back, that's for sure. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

probally they are sick of listening to complaints. The funniest thing was flying with the lufties hearing them complain about the p51, they say ive read bud andersons biography and it says the p51 cant outturn a 190 or 109.

It gets sickening to listen to, they dont seem to realize both aircraft are fully fueled or at least have more the 50-75 fuel.

Online there is no need for more then 25 fuel in the mustang and if they ever took the time to down at the seat you can see the wingtanks are empty which increased low altitude turning alot rather then with a heavy wingload. The 109s all out turn the stang by far even at high speed all you have to do is reduce trottle and hit flaps in the 109 and you slow down almost instantly the mustang will have no chance to slow down and stay with you.

I been on comms a couple times in warclouds on the german side, some people are cool I just hate hearing the whiners when they get killed which seems to happen on the german side a hell of alot more then allied side.

shooting chutes is LEGAL in WARCLOUDS,but DOES NOT mean its encouraged. (not saying it isnt either though)

this is a touchy subject for some, on both sides (with good reasons)

use your best judgement.

First of all, thanks to SparX and everyone involved for bringing us such a good server; we cry http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/cry.gif , when we dont see it listed in HL!

The reason we don`t use TS is that we have setup a Ventrilo- server for our squad, in our opinion far better quality than TS, but thats not the point.
The point is: Voice-comms takes gameplay to another level, so i also am astonished to hear that people don`t use TS on Warclouds....
Wonder whats going on...

but Ventrilo use more bandwith than TS. The quality on TS depends on the settings but using higher codecs means that you needs more bandwith and not all guys have cable or DSL.

6HIGH,

i understand your saying about ventrillo, but thats why we encourage you to hop on teamspeak. its free, easy to use, and (several people have ventrillo, and TS mapped to the same button with both programs running).its THE PRIME SOURCE of comms in WARCLOUDS..part of warclouds arena is also the teamspeak server. not taking advantage of that is like going to a friends house with a huge party.. yet you stay on front lawn with several friends...not joining in with the rest of us.

im not saying its bad, and that its not fun....but technically "the beer is in here..with us!..get out of the yard.come inside!"

RJ.... Chute shooting is frowned on very badly. It does happen at times..I like to think by accident. I know that last night for sure a Red pilot did shoot a chute by accident as he was pulling up from a kill. I was on comms when it happened and the guy felt very bad about it and apologized for doing it. It happens. Generally tho it is not advocated by anyone. To me it's not honorable. But ultimately it's up to Sparx as to whetehr it is allowed. I know he took a poll one time about it. as Gau said it is allowed I reckon but very controversial. It is one of teh few things that will anger some people. For me..I will not do it. Finish a smoking plane yes unless it defiantely is going down..but not shoot someone hanging in their chute. A quick wing wiggle salute is plenty.

Hey as far a chute shooting goes Newley is speeking of me, I let him have it the other night, normaly I donot do this & think its dirty pool.

But in WC44 server there is alot of blues shooting my chute all the time, so ive decided that turnabout is fairplay, I understand your anger newley I get mad too when Im blasted in my chute but especialy when I make it back across the red/blue line... fact is tho in WC server people want to send you back to HL & weeken the other team so they can win the mission, I think that is why there is so much chute shooting going on...

Sorry you had to be the recipiant of my revenge its just part of the game, Normaly I wont do it but if blue team frags me chute first then I do retaliate thats just me & payback is alwayes hell to pay http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
