I'm currently using an ASUS 9800XT with the 3.10 (I believe) drivers (the rest of my specs in sig) at 6X AA and 16X Aniso and in OGL. I run IF2FB at excellant settings. The planes look spectacular, the game runs smooth as silk, ground objects (trucks, buildings, ships) look very good. Two artifacts I notice however are:
1. that where bodies of water meet ground surfaces in the distance I get a moving jagged edge that looks like AA is not working yet as I said, the planes and other structures are photo realistic with no jaggies.

2. Clumps of distant trees tend to shimmer (simulating leaf movement? I doubt it.). An effect I normally associate with Aniso not working, but again the planes, buildings, and other structures, vehicles, etc. show no issues. FPS run 40 plus.

Any thoughts on what's going on? Time to upgrade video drivers, or reduce settings. Can't seem to squelch either of these two visual issues.

P4 3.2EE/2048Corsair/160GB HD/9800XT/CH HOTAS & Rudders.
AMD 1.6/1024Ram/80GB HD/GeF3 500Ti/Evenstrained Hall Sensored Cougar#0047 with CH Rudders. Backup Cougar #11103.
XP Home /SP1a with most updates on both.

Update drivers to at least 4.1 and in AEP the coastlines are much improved.

ATI 4.2 drivers are very good.
4.3 drivers screw up the frame rates big time.
After setting up the video card change
to custom settings and change from
trilinear to bilinear filtering and you will
pick up 20% on the frame rates with no loss
of quality.

If your CPU can handle it try "perfect" detail settings.

I currently get an average of 60fps in perfect
mode at 1200x1600 32bit.

ATI 9800XT 256
ASUS P4S800
Corsair PC3200 RAM 1 gig
Intel P4 3.2 Extreme edition
Sound Blaster Audigy2
Windows XP pro sp 1a

CPU is clocked at 3.488
Video card is clocked at 452/385

4.3's run superbly on Excellent settings, but they lose fps on Perfect compared to the 4.2's.

Cheers

Got 9600 Pro 128.

Excellent is wonderful, but perfect is unplayable with 4.3

Used to run perfect on 4.2, but strange artifacts did apear after a while, on perfect only. Overheated GPU?

However, 4.3 works so well in other games that I'm using it inspite of not being able to run perfect in FB. C'est la vie!

Jasko

I went back to 4.2's and started using excelent with "über"-water, seems to run well...

DaBallz: Are you playing with projector or what?
I found it almost impossible to find distant planes with 1600x1200 on my Viewsonic VP201p, went to 1280x960, much better, and now I'm at 1024x768 http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I run a 22" SONY monitor.
It runs great.
In perfect mode it's like being "there".
SONY is by far the best.
