Not necessarily.

Here's my video of Sainte Chapelle, I have a GTX 970 GAMING and everything at max except AA : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJYyiCJzNAA

Also I play with a 24" screen that has a latency of 2 ms.

Don't forget that the PC screen is really important !!!, Here's mine / http://www.reviewcentralme.com/2013/11/12/aoc-launches-new-e2451fh-monitor-in-white/

That's not very specific really...

I get mostly 60fps or above at 1080p nealrly all ultra, FXAA, dipping down to around 55. This is with shadows at the highest non PCSS setting, can't remember if its called High or Very High. I didn't test with PCSS.

make sure you're using the new beta drivers 347.09

Monitors don't affect gpu performance

I tthink that monitors affect the render of a gpu. Especially the latency don't you think ?

here my specs,

970
4790k (4.0, 4.4 boost)
16gb
windows 8.1

latest patch and drivers.

settings, all max but no AA, shadows high. Res 1080p

fps with v sync, solid 60 fps
no v sync, 60 min, avg around 70- 80, max 101 fps

compare this to yours.

I'm getting with the new beta driver around 50 fps, going to 60 and to 45, but then again I'm using a 980, shouldn't i be getting fixed 60 at least? (im using max settings 1080p + fxaa) you think it might be my 4670k bottlenecking?

no it will not, remove soft shadows to high, remove FXX to none. See if you getting my frames.

a bottleneck is when the gpu is not running at 100%, your cpu is not hitting 100% unless your temps are so high that its slowing down to keep it from dying.

so you should check your temps for both cpu and gpu

Temperatures are fine, changing ALL to low adds like 3 fps. I'm baffled I might just format the computer.

check if there an update with your motherboard/cpu drivers aswell.

after all drivers are checked, then that all i got.

You should easily get 60 fps. I have 60 fps with a 970 gtx 1080p but you have to set High Shadows instead of PCSS. And I use FXAA, not MSAA nor TXAA. The rest of settings are on ultra high. And finally I OC my 970 to 1400mhz core clock and 3930 memory clock. Then I set my monitor to 60hz and get non stop 59.9-60 fps very solid.

The important thing if you want to get some more fps is to set SHADOWS on HIGH instead of PCSS.

I would advise you to get 16gb of ram instead of 8.

Agree with most points.. But you do not need 16gb RAM.. From my personal expereience.. This game depends on RAM speed not too much on size.. The faster the better

I have 6GB of RAM and get 60-80fps with a 970. You don't need 16GB of RAM, 8 is more and enough.

You can check how much the game uses in the task manager, its around 3GB. Your windows OS will 1-1.5GB.

They don't affect the GPU frame rate, which is what the thread is about.

I'll try with mobo drivers and such and then report back (mobo: maximus vi hero)

Hmmmm with patch 1.3 and beta nvidia drivers i was getting 55-60 average and in crowd 50-55. But now after patch 1.4 its 50-60 and in crowd lowering down to 43-47. I have no idea how you guys getting 60FPS stable with gtx 970. I have everything on max at 1080p with AA to FXAA and cpu OC to 4.7ghz i5 2500K with 8GB ram. :(

Set shadows to high.. you will get consistent 60.. PCSS.. is kinda screwed

It only works when its in day time like when sunlight is there, but otherwise as there are no shadows, turning down to high makes no impact on FPS and its still in 40s in crowds.
