If you want to talk about aviation and WWII without some jerk saying no this plane was really better then that plane, you need to run as fast as you can away from here. No matter how a thread starts, if there is room for debate sooner than later the jerks appear and start flaming. No way around it in this forum.

Sim HQ is less active and slightly more mature, but start up the wrong discussion there and the same thing happens. Sad but true.

I'm afraid BlackPhenix is right. No matter where you go or what you do, aircraft debates, etc. will always attract some form of flame war or another.

I'm happy,

must be because I lay the performance blame on my self and consider myself a flying target drone. Once I have come to realise my in abilities I have become very happy with myself.

Also unfortunately there are some who will soon generate a "your planes sucks" war into an all out "your country sucks" war as I have seen before in a thread totally nothing to do with politics.

But I don't mind all the stuff thats going on. Sure I can't host, but I never have been able too, and ubi's made some "errors" but I am yet to find a simulation this good. and at the price I got FB.

I am very happy with IL-2. Sure it needs some tweeks to make it more realistic but it comes with the territory. I commend Oleg and UBI for putting this on the market. I don't care so much about the little things or how some morons make it a competition (i.e. my plane is better than yours etc.). This is as close to real WW2 aviation as I have ever seen...it's not perfect...so what! Be happy with what you have. I guess some people are so spoiled with their toys they don't appreciate what they have.

100% correct.

Sorry, couldn't resist. I actually like the P-39 and the P-63 should be a beast.

I must agree with Fury fighter on that one.

Some people in this forum appear to see the performance of WWII aircraft and the actions of the various belligerents on both sides in WWII as reflecting directly on current world events.

Insane as it may seem, for example, some people connect things like the performance of the P51D Mustang against the LW with things like the morality or otherwise of the Bush foriegn policy and war against Islam.

This is all quite crazy .... as WWII was over half a century ago and there is little or no connection between political events then and now.

I must complain about this long-ish happy thread! It's just not normal.

The FM on the P47 according to a book I once read and was backed up by someone who once saw one at an airshow is crap, the colour of the 109's landing gear's wrong,
the eye-line in the 190's too high/low, the inability of the rear gunner on the TB3 to pick his nose is unrealistic.

There you are - back to normal!

BG

P.S. Thanks to all the FB team for a great sim and to those post in a mature fashion!

Hi there you wont get involved in any flame wars over at www.battle-fields.com/commscentre/ (http://www.battle-fields.com/commscentre/)

There is a small and very friendly IL2 community in there, the board has strict rules about swearing and flaming.

My comp stutters, I get shot down all the time, I make stupid comments and get flamed, I shoot my team-mates by mistake, I'm clueless, but I'm happy and feel I have no room to complain. Lets face it we're all living vicariously
through this game/sim, and I can't think of any other that brings us this close.

I 100% happy with FB. It the best WWII flight sim hands down, that I've played. Whilst I applaude the efforts of people to get the FM's as accurate as possible, it is just so much static to me.. it doesn't bother me. Some people dont seem to realise that the game has to cater for both general public (the vast majority) and a relatively small number of hardcore simmers. Whilst these FM problems etc are big issues to the hardcore group, they probably dont matter to the general gamers that have bought the game, and never will.

So, a big thumbs up for Oleg & Co. I think they've done a great job treading the line between the two market sectors.

Just my 2p's worth.

Saburo_0,

The first link is an example of an on-line Campaign story.
Go to: After Action Reports
My favorite is Zanis Macher

The second link is a tip for the FW190/Yak1B match up.

Both links concern IL2/FB.

You can discuss these things here on this board but it may require some self restraint to ignore some of the garbage.

There are treasures to be found here; I just recieved from a regular poster on this board a copy of an original 109 manual concerning the prop governor. Too bad I can't read German http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I spend my time upgrading plane skins, flying offline, and trying to create cool missions. I always dreamed of a WWII flight sim with a mission recorder, full mission builder, and beautiful graphics. I'd be happy if the game was never patched or augmented with add-ons (paid or otherwise)...but it is and the development team continues to add to my little virtual WWII world...Am I happy? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Hi,

My name is Greg and my identity is derivative of the legion volleys of criticism I chuck at the people who develop my favourite pastime. Just the same, I worship them secretly as gods while I secretly profane my own criticism as pseudo-literate dross. So, though I appear hysterically distraught I'm really very hysterically happy.

Hey Galway, the political jab you made was thinly veiled:

"morality or otherwise of the Bush foriegn policy and war against Islam."

The point of your post seemed to have been a criticism of people that interject politics into the forum, but then *wham* you do it yourself.

Come on, let's leave politics out of this.
