War Emergency Power.

What very few of this community realize is the word EMERGENCY. Most understand this setting as meaning "War Power".

When you are in a jam, use it. It only lasts a short while, so don't abuse it, or you'll have a new emergency to deal with, and no power.

Specs:
More expensive than the dining set.
Less expensive than the couch.
Smaller than the dishwasher.
Just as noisy as the refridgerator.
Faster than the cars' computer.
Less practical than the car.
Face it, people who put thier computer specs in thier signature are pretty ****ing wierd.

WEP=War Emergency Power. It basically feeds the engine a solution (that's different in for German, US, Russian, etc planes) that boosts power and performance. But it can only be used for short amounts of time without baking the engine. So use it when you need it and not for too long or else you'll damage the engine.

Most German fighters use the EH one (I can not spell it for the life of me), GM1, or, for the most part, MW50. I'm not sure what the Russians use (La-7 uses Forsahz or something like that.) US and British planes use water injection.

"Son, never ask a man if he is a fighter pilot. If he is, he'll let you know. If he isn't, don't embarrass him."
Badges!? We don't needs no stinkin' badges!

I try not to use it in a fight. It overheats to fast. I save it for running someone down, or getting away.

So use it in spurts or it will burn up engine, and it runs out or what? And if so how do you know you are out of this magic potion?

Find the fight, open up your rads and burn it all up before someone kills you.

I have to disagree with some of what is being posted about WEP. To read some of these replies, it would seem that any aircraft that can go past "100%" on the throttle is using WEP.

War Emergency Power was a term used primarily by the USAAC and later The USAAF. In an aircraft like, for instance, a P-47, if you go past "100%" on the throttle, you don't get a "WEP engaged" message, at least on the ones I've flown. Instead you get "Water Injection engaged". WEP does not neccessarily mean that you have a water reservoir, or a methanol tank on board. For an example, examine the P-51 Mustang. Go past "100%" on the throttle and you are NOT using any type of 'magic potion' http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

In some aircarft, going past "normal full throttle" was possible. In US aircraft, this may take the form of the pilot literally and physically breaking a safety wire with the throttle quadrant, which before had restricted movement past "100%" throttle. Shoving the throttle full forward broke the wire, and engaged "War Emergency Power", and not by engaging some ancilliary system in all cases. In some, it was simply going past the "normal" range of throttle movement. In a Mustang, you're not gonna run out of Methanol or water or what have you. You'll overheat instead. That's why the safety wire was there- it's used in War Emergency situations, not normal flight http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
