View Full Version : Why Cheat??

What's the fun in cheating, zipping around like UFO's and coming up behind someone when playing in the game lobby? I see this more and more and it takes away from the fun. Is there anything in the works to prevent those that cheat from playing in the Ubi lobby?

You are probably experiencing lag. There has never been a more cheat-free CFS game than FB, especially with all the new time checky stuff that Oleg added.

That's lag you see - "Packet Loss" to be precise - it's a STUPID message in IL-2. It does not say what's realy happening...

If you see the message - press "S" key - look at the pings... IF your ping is very hi (over 300) its PROBABLY YOU... Not much you can do except LEAVE THE GAME - you're ruining it not only for you but also for the other players, run Setup (in main FB folder) and set NetSpeed to 56kbps (no matter WHAT you have in real-life), also set Skin D/L off, Select ONLY games with a low ping, and less players...

You know why cheating is so kool? It's so your username will enter in the hallowed halls of the Hated and Feared all across the Internet. No mere mortal Gamer will dare stand against you once they know that beating you is impossible, and you can laugh in your dark Fortress of Invulnerability at all the fools who dare stand in your way. Perhaps even one day, you will become the best Cheater in every game ever made and then everyone will know there is no gamer more poerful, potent, and virile than You! HA HA HAHAHA HA HA!!

That's why people cheat. They are stupid and childish.

I'm getting tired of reading how cheat free this game is, I reported on the now acknowledged speed cheat ages ago to cries of derision (I was being outclimbed by a P11 in my 109 G10 and someone asked what was my energy state! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif) and having returned recently to online play (broadband) lo and behold, on two occasions I approach a hapless victim in a low energy state and just as I am about to shoot he shoots forward 500 metres and is out of trouble.
Of course there's cheating. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I'm not saying you are wrong FBusterMk3 - I'm saying PROVE IT WITH A TRACK - and report it to Oleg by e-mail too...

Tsisqua is RIGHT - he's NOT saying there are NO cheats at all...

Aside from obvious lagg and packet loss issues I'm tired of the "cheating is not possible" propoganda when every other online capable game out their is infested with cheaters. Some of these cheats are simply uncovered exploits in the game discovered by accident or by someone spending time and effort to uncover them.

From what I've read and witnessed with many other games, the game itself does not necessarily need to have been hacked. There apparently are many ways to cheat using programs running in the background, etc. Many game companies have finally gone with some of the anti-cheat software built into their product and even after this has been done someone eventually finds a way to cheat again.

I'm not clever enough to know how to cheat other than trying some of the exploits mentioned in these froums to see if they work. I'm quite postive however that there are some very clever and bright individuals out there who must flex their brains and cheat just because they can.

It would be interesting to know if cheating is also possible with console games when played online as well.

Host must watch the time check info at the entry of each new player. If someone is using speed hack, and slips by . . . well, its just not possible to catch everyone that does it.

I'm sure that there are more than enough cheaters, and no, I am not saying that it doesn't happen. However, the type of cheating that would involve individual FM's would require you to completely hack the IL2 code. The handful of people that do have it are honorable. Probably not all, but MOST instances of a plane moving at supersonic speed are indeed lag.

Three days after FB was released, I was accused of cheating, because my plane appeared to be doing just what you describe. Good Lord, I wouldn't have the faintest idea of how to do it in the first place, but to the guy that magically dropped off my 6, I was a dirty cheater. Everything seemed to run at normal speed to me.

If you uncover a cheat, or an exploit that could be called a cheat (to me, an exploit is only a cheat if RBJ is involved . . . JK), then by all means report it. If you go calling innocent pilots cheats, it just makes you look incompetent.

Anti-Cheat software, whether it is bundled with the game or not, provides a FALSE sense of security. Anti-Cheat programs can be hacked & worked around. I dont know how many times Ive been playing a game with AC software on & yet there are cheaters aimbotting, seeing thru walls, speed hacking & so on. It appears to me that the games bundled with AC software are actually MORE vunerable.

if you want to see who's causing those "Cheating" messages:

* open i18n/netmessages.properties
* locate thes lines where it says "user_cheating{1,2,3} Cheating has been detected!"
* add "{0}" in the message or change it to whatever you want, for example:

user_cheating1 {0} is lagging
user_cheating2 {0} lagged again
user_cheating3 {0} should change ISP

Dark Fortress of Invulnerability? I think I had one of those in Dungeons and Dragons.

I hereby award you 100 points for best literary visualization! It just conjures up the image of a 15 year old sitting in their parents unfinished basement with a little plastic crown on his head.

I think you just hit one of the major attractions to cheating dead on.

A couple of years back my brother had a ******* friend who would only play to cheat and to be a general trolling nuisance. Having the rare ability to actually bring the war to the cheater's doorstep, we went over to his house, and while my brother kept him distracted, I yanked his modem. HA! It took the little fart 3 months to realize that it was just unplugged and disabed!

(this is by no means a justification to do such a thing, and just in case, my tower is surrounded by claymores)

you can still use the time/speed cheat in FB

the time speed checks are controlled by the host

if he didnt tighten them down then the person using the speed hack can do it at will

Yes it is possible and has happened quite a lot. Most of these game developers are just starting with online gameing and are learning about cheat hacks and how to thwart them.
