View Full Version : That's it - no more missions for FB or PF from me...

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/59.gif What I mean is - from now on I'll only be making missions/ campaigns for the FB+PF combined installation. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/mockface.gif

Thats not to say I'll be putting 109s over Iwo Jima or Zeros over Lvov http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif - it's just that the combined installation gives us so many extra choices with regard to objects/ vehicles/ artillery/ armour and ships etc...

You guys are going to love it! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/heart.gif

If you already have FB don't bother with a PF standalone installation - go with the combination - it's the sensible thing to do.

I hear ya.. but it seems like such a no brainer to me. I still cant se why anyone would NOT want FB or the AEP let alone set up PF as a stand alone.

Seriously: Because it will be possible to have both installations on the same disk -- One FB + AEP + PF and one PF only. You'll need the second one to join online games with those players who own PF only, but haven't bought FB/AEP (yet). The Pacific theatre will surely attract many new customers to the IL-2 series who are not interested in the eastern front.

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif I'm sure that with the Pacific Fighters there is going to be more people interested in the IL-2 game all togeather. Oleg made a good decision with the feature of being able to mix the games.
This is going to be a assume Game... no doubt!

tbh i think a fb+pf mix install could join a pf pure, cos u have extra stuff yes, BUT it wont be used in the mission file on server so it wont appear for u.

Extreme one...are you in to requests?

If you are...

Yamamoto Mission
In defense of Australia campaign
Coral Sea
Midway
Ever here of the 87 days of Cactus?
My personal favorite...Battle of Bismark Sea
Devistation of Wewak
Destruction of Rabual

I love the PTO...if you're not into requests...then please ignore. Lots of cool stuff I enjoyed from CFS 2 days. I built lots of missions and campaigns myself...Wake Island, Coral Sea and some following specific fighter wings like the 339th etc.

Its gonna be tough waiting for PF/AEP

I'm going to.

Reghost windows and clean install of PF. At least for a few months.

I like to pretend that I'm actually flying a theatre... helps if the plane choice is limited. But that's just me.

Well to start with I think I'll install it seperately ... you never know what will happen to FB once PF is installed over the top .. an I still wanna play FB. Just watch the forums go ape when everything crashes.

Sorry for the negative attitude but **** is like weather ...it happens !!!!

But I do know what happens... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

You get PF and FB get's some inherent improvements.
What bad could happen?
If anything wierd does happen it'll be fixed in a patch anyway.

Still I suppose 'throwing caution to the wind' is out of the question for some people.

If you choose to make a seperate install how will you know the effect on FB (good or bad) anyway?

The thing is that the developers have given us a choice - and that can only be good.
Your choice differs from mine and your're entitled to make that choice.

My guess would be no because PF will likely not contain any FB or AEP content. Why would it?

FB + PF in the pacific.....

I can see it now....
"I can't bring my 109 down on the carrier, this is fubar!"

or stranger...
Cruising around the pacific only to be jumped by a squad of 109's.

Still, it will be all good fun.

Just think of the advantages of having AEp+FB+PF:
You already have all the settings ( Joystick, sounds...), Skins for planes like Zero, Ki-84,P-38,39,40,51, already installed.
Plus the advantage for mission builders is great: B-24's for Tidal Wave,Mossie for the night fights, Bofors, Matilda... so many other things that were extensively used in ETO or MTO and are not in yet.
