there are a lot of spitfires in the pipeline.

Biggs with Spitfire Mk22 and MkI

Fievel with Mk14 and probably MkV

and Slava with the MkIX

so far it looks like fievel started modeling a pit- hopefully all Spitmodellers find together fpr the pits !!

BUT, as the last 1,5 year showed, be patient - modelling AND bringing it in the game is lot of work

they have been in development for so long its not funny ... if they come they are still a long way away yet ,... the 3D models are the easy & quick part ... what takes the time is the flight model being mapped out 7 the damadge model as well as the firepower strength

thier system is similiar to cfs cfgs and dps the long part is the model, damage, cockpit gauges etc the planes performances can be changes within minutes with a few keystrokes.

then re encryting SFS secure file system which takes a good amount of time to pack.

Methinks they should have been in from the start (IL-2 Sturmovik V 1.0 ) as there are well documented reports of the Russians using them. I read a combat report from a Russian Squadron Leader engaging bombers and fighters over Kuban in a Spitfire MkVb. He liked the engine, climb rate, and handling, but disliked the wing mounted armament, preferring the concentration from cowling and through the spinner mounted armament.

Unlikely. There's a hell of a lot of other a/c in the pipeline first. By the time the Spit is ready IL-2 will be ready to be superseded by something better. Shame.

Just my 2p,

Cheers

That's my point....they're developing all these aircraft with tenuous or non-existent involvement in the Theatres in question when an aircraft that took part in the Russian campaign in not small quantities is completely overlooked until this late stage.

I'm very much in the historical camp and feel that if you're going to have Mitsubishi Zeros dogfighting with Mustangs over Moscow, you might as well throw in the Millenium Falcon as well, or a Fokker Triplane.

I'm with you - and who said that about drink? I've used it many a time.

Just remembered: Viv Stanshall. I should have known, I met him once. Only in passing though. Top man.

PE-8 would be great but no one knows what the cockpit looked like and Oleg rightly refuses to guess. Historic modelling does have merit, or it would all be just arcade crud, not 'the great WW2 fighters'.

Cheers.
