The only problem is my last move claimed my box and manuals. If any of you guys out there have any references on how to properly level bomb in FB I'd be thankful. I can't remember how to use the optical bombsights. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Dont know about references, but the bombing training track that comes with the game is fairly informative, might jog your memory.

Sorry i cant be more helpful, but hopefully that'll give you the idea.

here's my very helpful guide to bombing in the He-111, hope it helps!

BOMBSIGHT ADVICE FOR THE He-111H-2 / H-6

Anyway, what I really came here to say is that though the He-111 has a very nicely detailed bombsight, if you don't use it properly, it will fail you. Here's what to do. If you're not careful enough, you'll lose the crosshairs. I'll give a situation:

You're calibrating the bombsight for a bomb run at 2500 meters. Your true airspeed, not the indicated airspeed, is 320 kilometers per hour. Your target is 20 kilometers ahead of you. First of all, you will need to set and program buttons to control the gunsight, here's what I have for the buttons:

Increase bombsight velocity: alt page up
decrease bombsight velocity: alt page down

Increase bombsight altitude: ctrl page up
Decrease bombsight altitude: ctrl page down

Increase bombsight pitch angle: shift page up
Decrease bombsight pitch angel: shift page down

Turn on automated bombsight: Numlock

Okay, so now that we've programmed the keys, we must set up the bombsight to pound the crap out of our Russian friends. (No Russians were harmed during the making of this tutorial)

If the pilot holds the plane steadily on course, here is all you have to do:

1. Set the bombsight to desired altitude, in this case: 2500 meters

2. Set the bombsight to desired velocity, in this case: 320 kph

3.Pitch the bombsight up until the view on the bombsight is centered on your target.

4. Make sure you stay on course. Keep the bombsight centered on the target and keep on course. If you don't keep on course, you will lose the targeting sights in the bombsight, and your bomb drop will be way off.

5. When the target is clearly centered in your bombsight and the crosshairs reach the desired point on the target you wish to pummel with your bombs, turn on the bombsight automation.

6. With the bombsight automation turned on, all you have to make sure you do is STAY ON COURSE. When the targeting system in the bombsight is ready, IT will drop the bombs automatically.

7. Now that you've dropped all of your payload in a giant salvo to expunge your enemies, turn tail and speed at a lower altitude (I like 300-700 meters) back home. If there is a large group of you, fly in formation on the deck back home. This way, as long as there is not much AAA in the area, the only thing you have to worry about is fighters, and when that close to the deck, none of them are going to be able to sneak under you and kill your poor exposed ventral gunner.

-It's best to have a partner or escort when on a bombing mission, otherwise it's hell.

Hope that's helpful. Just a few words of advice:

-STAY ON COURSE!!!

- The altitude of the bombsight will not go below 850 meters, any bombing below that altitude will have to be played by ear. I do it quite often. Here's how. Aim is something you just have to practice, however.

WARNING: NEVER EVER DO LOW LEVEL BOMBING LIKE DESCRIBED BELOW WITHOUT SETTING A TIME DELAY OF AT VERY LEAST 1.5 SECONDS ON YOUR BOMBS. IF YOU FAIL TO REMEMBER THIS, YOU WILL BE BLOWN TO PIECES BY THE SHOCKWAVE OF YOUR OWN BOMBS.

1. Start high, say 3000 meters, and dive down 250-300 meters above the deck.

2. try to gain as much speed as possible with as little engine use as possible, because after you drop your payload, you'll need to high tail it out of there very quickly.

3. After eying the target and judging the best time to drop the payload, fly straight toward the target, as fast as you can, with as little engine use as you can, to the target, drop your bombs, and then overhaul the engines and stay on the deck and GET OUT OF THERE!

Once again, I hope this helps, if you need any other words of advice, please, don't hesitate to ask. PM me or e-mail me at boosh at kbuch.com
