The thing that caught my attention were the trees and the seemingly overcast sky in this pic (closeup of waves are also awesome):

How good will an Athlon 3200+ 64bit, Radeon 9800 pro, and 512 of PC 3200 RAM do this thing?

I can not get over how realistic the water looks. The lighting effects on the planes look amazing.

I think I also read the water reflects the clouds, I can tell by the images that it reflects the ships hull.

If the games keep improving like they are we will have a photo-realistic flight simulator in 3 to 4 years. If the IL-2 engine can keep giving us stunning results I am dieing to see what the BOB game will do.

I really like it, but why don't they remove the main guns from the Lexington class carrier. It didn't have those anymore when the war started.

The 8 inch guns were removed in March-April 1942 to be used for the shore defense of Hawaii.

The screenshot must just be for demonstration purposes. IRL you never would have seen an F4U Corsair taking off from the original USS Lexington (CV-2) because Corsairs weren't operational until long after the "Lady Lex" was sunk at the Battle of the Coral Sea.

The water is absolutely stunning. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

That may not be overcast,

Could be just brilliant FB late day sky with sun just above horizon in direction of sun.

Note sun sparkle on water. Our Wildcat view shows fusalege in darkness.

Also we don't know the Visibility Setting (haze).

I may be wrong, that we know.

Man, that screen with the Hellcat, bright haze, calm water... is it just me or does it feel really hot and humid all of a sudden?

Note the numerous details on the underneath of this Corsair. Even flaps and landing gear housing sport amazing details never seen before in a flight sim.

Glad to know that the planes cast shadows over the CVs

It's like CFS2 on steroids! I sure hope the AI learn to open the canopy during takeoff and landing. This was the standard procedure for U.S. Navy and Marine aviators through the Korean war.

I hope the cockpits will be the same high standard!

Cheers,

I agree. I'm counting on better detailed cockpits, for sure.

Will the flags, as seen on the Japanese carriers, be animated as well (fluttering)?? And are they whitecaps I see?
Looks really good.

The ole IL-2 sure can go along way when pushed. I wonder how far it can go. The quake 3 engine still looks good after updates Call of Duty proved that.

If ATI fixes its OpenGl problems those of us that already own 9800pros and XTs will find no need to upgrade. Thats if you have the 1024MBs of RAM and already have a fairly fast CPU.

That is the most beautiful depiction of a tailhook I've ever seen in a flight sim!! I can't wait. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

They are static, like in FB ships.
