Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Lol so many nerds. Don't they got other thing to do to play comp games. Or they comp game developers and that is their job. Its just looks like they spend too much time at comp i could see it in their faces. But i'm just saying. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Really nice show. It is good to see Oleg in the crowd supporting the event. It would be nice to have something like that here in the states.

I wonder how much of a turnout a Lan event would get in the states. more specifically the east coast area.

I was involved in radio controlled racing and helped organize some very large national events, far bigger than any lan party will ever be, and the logistics are similar.

270 gas racers on one weekend alone, many of which travelled hundreds of miles with 200 lbs of gear, just to race "toy cars"

so would you get 50 people, or a hundred, for an FB themed Lan party/competition? maybe even combine lock on in the mix, for more draw?

I would be interested in organizing an event, on a small scale at first, if I thought there were enough interest. Ive been looking at locations, and getting a feel for the investment required.
this was gona get its own thread but this seemed at least some appropriate.

and thanks for the links Ivan, very cool to see, looks like there was a great turnout.

How many induldge in our genre well who knows.

There are some real big ones that are set up aswell but I' lost for the link. at the moment.

Here are some pics of a couple I have had in my Garage.

They are a blast. We even have the outside Squadies join in via my cable connection and they enjoy the same smooth game play. They tell me. I think so far the most machines we hav had on the LAN are 16.

Oh Thanks Ivan for the links http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

None of the team matches will play for me, but the 1v1's are quite entertaining.

Any ideas for the team trks?

Thunderbold56,

Using AEP the team tracks play fine.

DeuvsRus2 caipan.ntrk and caipan2.ntrk did not work on my system. Those files hung up after loading at the STAND BY window for me.

Blue1 and blue2 were both turkey shoots in my opinion with the 109s gaining the initial decisive advantage with significant altitude gains over the KI84s. Viks used a technique of turning on and off Auto Prop pitch with a very steep climbing angle at slow speed.

red22.ntrk was another case of the blue team gaining an initial advantage this time with possition and altitude. At time 2:50 Blue team has what appears to be a slight altitude advantage and 90 degrees of possition advantage being fully turning into the fight.
Blue obviously maintains their advantage with initial defensive maneuvering avoiding initial aggression for further altitude gains over Red.

Blue team turns the early advantage into dominance as the fight tops out just over 4000 meters.

On defense Red manages to hold off Blues cautious attacks. Blue does not commit to a determined attack.

The fight descends as Red is forced lower.

In this situation Red can only hope for a mistake by the Blue team, a reversal if one or both Blue pilots gives up the energy advantage such as might be the case if a Blue pilot followed a Red pilot to the deck. Once on the deck the situation becomes much more difficult for Blue.

The fight never made it to the deck.

Red proceeded to play the dope part in a game of rope a dope almost pulling off the long shot like the final example at time 9:37, however as often is the case with long odds the dice came down in favor of Blue team at time 9:45:

=FB=VikS renders III/JG53.Matzen's controls unsuable

"unsuable" is not a good thing unless your prone to litigation.

Excellent tracks, especially for a n00b like me to pick up some hints!

One question, I see in the tracks I've downloaded (only the 1 v 1 atm), seems like everyone climbs at about 45 degrees and keeps flicking between Prop Pitch 100% and AUTO. Can someone tell me the theory behind this and what it exactly does? I gather it makes you climb faster, since I never climb at that rate. Thanks!

Yes MAstaKFC. That is the Bf109 climb exploit. According to rumours it will be fixed in the patch, though...

Hey guys, 2 more questions.
Firstly, is the map those guys are using in the 1 v 1 included in FB/AEP or is it some sort of special map which was created for ICAS? If it was, is it possible to get my hands on it?
Secondly, those guys land very well in what seems to be, and unconventional manner. They can seemingly just drop vertically on the airfield and still land properly. Any hints on how one can do such a technique?
Thanks guys!

Evidently these were too popular, as I can't access the linked sites/files at all. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

If anyone has the full set of tracks from this and cares to zip up the whole bunch for me, please send me an email (wwsandman@wingwalkers.org) or PM me on this forum.

TIA!
