Oleg,

At one time you asked what could be done to make them better. I responded with some answers but we all see this with every flight.

Could you have one of your graphics designers create a set of legs with feet on the pedals that move with the pedals ? Also hands on the stick and one on the throttle ? It is strange with all the great graphics in the sim
that we can not see our body in the cockpit. This would be a clever add-on and probably only 2 colors would be needed.

Please respond as to what you think about this.....

================================================== ======

I think this would really be cool and really set off this sim as really unique.

"I thought you told me they would break formation if we pressed home a good frontal attack."

Olegs comments on the suggestions....

We don't plan to make 20-50 models of the bodys...
Why 20-50? Because the seats in different cockpits are different, then we
nedd for each - separate model. Plus animated... Legs - animated, hands -
animated.... fingers - animated... etc...
Do you know how much it will take in work and in cost? Even if not to make
hand on throttle animated!

Then, if we'll make it then users will ask to make selectable custom skins
for legs, body, hands, etc.... Be sure....
It was discussed some time ago and explained why we don't plan to make it.
Especially if cockpit is from third party.... It isn't enough that ususally
we rework 90% of third party cockpits we will need also to make 3D model
body placed in new positions (comparing say to another one that was done for
other plane)

We don't plan to make it in FB and probably even in new sim.

You may post it on the forum for others that may be think like you.
It is final answer.

Good suggestion, but I'd be willing to bet we won't see it. Hope it shows up someday, tho

In F-22 ADF you could see the pilot, his legs and
hands on stick and throttle. Gut the game overall
is vastly inferior to FB, made in '97

I only want this if Oleg gives me furries/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

It has been like this since the first release of Il-2.

I think they should leave it like this. Allready, there are a few key instruments hidden by the control column in some aircraft. What else is going to be hidden by adding arms and legs into the cockpit?

pointless .. cosmetic..

i'd rather have the developpers spend their time on improving gameplay not adding silly aesthetic things to the cockpit.. the game is beautiful as is!

I agree, arms and legs are completely pointless. They would obstruct the view of instruments. I rather have more improvements to the actual game (more planes, maps, etc.etc.).

Post here BEFORE you send, or just send it and seal your lips. You don't need to let us know unless you talked to Oleg face to face.

And why did you post same one again?

Need reply again? My opinion is..it's babyish idea.

Yes please.

I liked the legs in Falcon series and I know they'd have to be better in our lovely offices but you never missed having visable hands in Falcon 4 so it's just the legs you need really.

I wanna look down in the cockpit and see a naked womans body at the controls. Big jumblies and... well... I leave the rest of the description to your imagination but it would then make looking for the repeater compass alot more interresting and I would probably never finnish a mission on account of crashing soon after take off.

Looking at legs and feet would freak me out. I like the "non" pilot, lets me see the detail on the floor

hmmm supposing the pilot in cockpit is modelled, which one will have better performance? The Allied one should have better turning but no Allied pilot will be able to beat a well operated Axis 109 or 262 pilot. I hope we won't be seeing uber pilots with overmodelled FM's.....

Hehehehe sorry just like I read about the uber pencils when FB came out..... I had to add this....

The objective of good flight sims is to reproduce the flight environment as accurate as possible. If you are looking at your instruments all the time during a dogfight you are going to be toast.

If you can't see the instruments move your legs......

What do you think the real pilots did ????

Agreed, there are probably more important things that would add to FB but this really would make this a REAL sim.

I'm of two minds on this subject myself, for the exact for and against reasons already stated. What I'd like seeing is the phantom co-pilot of the TB-3 materializing when I pan to starboard. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

This idea would be fine if this sim wasn't already pushing the limits in terms of graphics and gameplay, but I think we have plenty of eye candy already.

If you're that hard up because the game visually doesn't seem realistic without legs, imagine that you're a parapalegic (sp?) who doesn't use the rudder.

Indeed. You'd have to then implement all sorts of
options for moving your virtual head around the cockpit
to see the instruments obscured by your virtual knees!

Without VR headsets and head motion tracking, it would
make things hard work just to see the instruments.

I think it's something to add in 5 years time, when
we all have VR headsets, though.

Adding a pilot would indeed add a visual realism, but it would not add much useful content. Until we get 3D head tracking, not just 2D like TrackIR, will this be alright. In fact you'd basicly need another joystick to control the pilot's body, in order to reveal the hidden parts of the cockpit and lean over to the windows.

Wasn`t this posted before.?

It`s fine as it is. Why would I want animated hands and feet when I`ve already got real ones on me? Also the increase in frame rate (which is always more when viewing the internal cockpit) would jump further.

Now REMOVING the virtual joystick should be an option since I can already see the joystick moving for real in front of me (in my REAL hand), and it would not cover important controls in some cases.

Sorry, worthier stuff than this need attention. Sorr to burst your bubble. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

LOMAC has this feature and it really creeps me out (kind of like in Operation Flashpoint). It presents too much of a distraction and I would rather have them continue to fix other more pressing issues.

I guess that the same as looking behind you - in a real plane you can move your bodie to take a better look behind you, where as in the sims - you are only limited to pivoting your head on a staionary stick -

If you had the ability to move you legs than you would need to buttons to control this movement - then servers would run "No Legs" and people would whine about it - saying no legs is like cheating - then they would come out with TrackLeg - and of course that would be cheating too.

I am more interested in cockpit the way it is - without legs.

I would rather them spend the man hours to develop the next sim.

again - this is my opinion - and I respect your opinion on the matter - kudos!
