Hi everyone, and what a glorious sunny Fiday morning it is too http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

I got a new sound card (Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS)to replace my onboard sound and, by God, it kicks ***.
However, I need one of you guys to let me know what is the best setting in the sound setup to use to get the best out of the card? Should I use 'Soundblaster Live!' settings or 'Max DirectX Settings'? Or a different one?

Cheers,
TT.

Good luck.

Audigy 2 is a great great card. I obtain wonderful sound from it and combined with 5.1 or 6.1 speakers is a dream.

But FB sound engine seems not to support completely Audigy 2 features. All Audigy 2 users have gone thru a plethora of bugs and issues since the first version of FB. It's difficult to have 3D sound working to whole satisfaction, and you'll get some weird sound echos if you use maximum settings.

My advice is: forget about the best Audigy features while you play FB.

Use 16 channels, 22k sample sounds and, unless you have multispeakers, disable extensions -leave them on if you have 5.1, or you'll have no surround sound.

Also try to put ingame volume levels at medium, or your speakers will start to make crankling noises.

I hope you'll enjoy Audigy 2 sound, it's really wonderful for 3D gaming, music hearing and DVD playing.

But, unfortunately, it's not that good with FB complex and cumbersome sound system.

Thanks for the reply.
Basically I don't like bringing the house down so I use a decent pair of headphones usually http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
So basically you are suggesting I use the custom settings that you can configure in game? That's cool. Thanks for the tip http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Unfortunately in FB, the highest sound options do not produce the highest audio quality. Just use basic settings. Turning everything on will just make you sick! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/53.gif

I have an Audigy2 since before FB and I have always used 44k sample and hardware extensions without a problem.

Also ever since EAP the 32 Channel bug is fixed as well.

I'll try the usual settings but turn the in-game volume levels down as I am getting some crackling.

Thanks for all the help.
