Can someone please explain how I can start co-op missions solo on the PS4?

As soon I approach a mission giver and press X -- the only option I'm given to start a co-op mission -- I'm taken to a 'subscribe to PS+' screen, which I don't want to do.

I mean, one shouldn't need PS+ to start those missions SOLO, right? Or is that a requirement?

OK, I figured this out, finally. For others who might be having trouble:

It looks like you have to select the mission AT LEAST ONCE ***from the MAP***, and choose 'Private' (triangle) to start.

Now that I've tried that, in-game mission givers have the 'private' option as well ---- previously they *didn't*.

This might be a bug, actually.

I've never started co-op missions in person, I always use the pause menu to go the progress tracker, and select missions from there.

This may help as well and yes you do need an online account to play co-op. ;)

Sure, I was asking about *solo*ing them, which is possible without PS+.
