Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Why do you use a twist rudder stick when you have pedals ( must be force feedback). You dont like the x45 stick? Seems like you are limiting your HOTAS when not using x45 stick. Also you forgot the BEER holder.

for the wood, get a couple rolls of aluminum foil, spray glue. Use a roller to get the aluminum foil perfectly even. Paint in gray or olivedrab primer, for the edges you can cut out pieces of painters tape to make it look like chipped edges., just some thoughts to make it look better then ply wood http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif, looks cool i need a seat like that

dang u guys are fast. LOL I just posted it. It'll be painted to look like my 310th Jug.
http://img54.photobucket.com/albums/v166/310thDiablo/diablo.jpg

Hawgdog..it took less than 1 week to build..2 sheets of plywood. Cost was about 75 dollars total so far. Yeah the Saitek gamepad is used in FB to map more keys with. I'm looking at building a circuit board with BaldieJr to replace the gamepad...either that or use another gamepad.

Lav69..yeah I use a MSFFB2 joystick. I like it better tho I do lose a few keys. It still works very well and I like the FFB stick.

I'll post more pics when I do something more to it. BaldieJr is building one similar to mine. Heyy Baldie..I have teh digital cam...want to take some pics of urs to show off? He is getting alot fancier than I am.

Well, if you dont mind me asking, how did you do the setup for the stick on the platform and pole. How did you connect it at the base? I plan on doing my own cockpit once I get the time and I was thinking of placing my X-45 sitck right in the center like that but didnt know how to attach it at the bottom.

great idea Leadspitter. I may do just that. Yeah the seat is homemade too. jsut a piece of plywood with foam padding and vynyl covering. Geez keep the ideas coming. It's actually very comfotable to sit in and fly...buty if I was doing it over again i would make it a couple inches wider to accomodate my big butt.

But how did you get the left hand throttle to work with your MSFF2 stick?

I have one and would love to get a hook up a throttle like you have.

Beirut....FB will support multiple controls. I jsut attach both sticks and assign teh FFB to flight axis's. cool Gundog..I would love to see pics of yours too. _______________________________________________-

I have a plywood floor and used 3/4" pipe and fittings. I used a base plate on each end with a plywood base that is screwed onto teh plate. This is then attached to the plywood floor and the stick is velcroed onto the top piece of plywood. it actually works very well.

I "broke" the news to my Wife a couple weeks ago. She said...naively...go ahead. Since then I procured the plywood, got it all marked out and have started the cutting...at work.

I revisited the idea with her the other night and she was suddenly stricken with amnesia. Nonetheless, it's well on the way and should be ready for first assembly by this weekend. Then paint and epoxy finish for durability.

I should have some pics myself in another week or so.

It should all come together just about right. My new puter build, new pit AND the patch all within a few weeks...WOOT!

TgD Thunderbolt56

I use CH HOTAS with rudder pedals so, I'll likely just put them on the sides. My final decision will have to wait until initial assembly. At that point I can tweak for better ergonomics.

When I used my MSFFB2 exclusively, I always held it in my lap. So, the center mount would have been perfect. Now I'm used to having them mounted on my chair in alignment with the armrests.

I'm 5'10" 180, but don't have much on my @rse.

I'll update after primary assembly.

Lookin good Diablo!

We have to meet up sometime and hash out the details of that game-pad. Of course, we could rip the X45 stick apart and make a trim box/ switch panel from that too. Just about anything is possible.

I've been too busy to work on mine, and I finally got a copy of FS 2004 (freaking excellent sim!), which is causing me to rethink almost all aspects of my pit. So very little progress has been made.

After my girlfriend and I get married and purchase a home, I want to do a replica pit. Probably a cessna or something http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I don't think i want to tear my X-45 joystick apart..might need it one day. I would go get anotehr gamepad to use tho if needed for parts. A replica pit would be really nice..kinda like the F-16 pit made from plastic. Lets get together soon and hash all this over a couple beers or something. I can meet u jsut about anytiem anywhere.

Do you have a favorite watering hole?

I am wavering in my enjoyment of FB/AEP. It once was "my one and only", but I recently got an F16 model for FS2004 and wow it rocks. I left bowman at 6pm and was on the tail of a UPS sky-truck at 25,000 6 minutes later!

I requested a place to put down in cinci at 6:18!!! I got so accustomed to the slow civilian stuff that the viper makes the game feel completely different. Jeez that thing is faaaaast! I may buy the payware F16 just so I can do arial refuelings.

This totally changes the direction of my cockpit.... again! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

Specs:
More expensive than the dining set.
Less expensive than the couch.
Smaller than the dishwasher.
Just as noisy as the refridgerator.
Faster than the cars' computer.
Less practical than the car.
Face it, people who put thier computer specs in thier signature are pretty ****ing wierd.
