It did for me..actually anywhere from 2 fps to 6-7 fps. This is for the NVidia driver. Turn off Vsync in game and turn on adaptive Vsync in the NVidia Contol panel.

is there an equivalent setting in AMD's catalyst?

there isn't in AMD.

The reason this helps:

vsync on on a monitor with 60 hz, FPS can only 60 or 30 fps, nothing in between. So if your FPS drops to 55, your monitor and video card need to stay sync'd and thus will drop directly to 30 FPS instead.

With adaptive vsync, the second it drops below 60 FPS, the card actually disables vsync so that you can get a range between 30-60 fps.

It makes a HUGE difference.

if you're gaming on PC you should already know these kinds of things. If not make sure you look through the options and learn about them for your graphics card.
