I bought Trackir about a year ago and tried it a few times but found it disorientating.
It's been in my loft since but I was thinking about giving it another go.
The problem I found was when, for instance, you looked left and the view correctly panned left but your eyes were looking at the edge of the monitor so you had to keep your head angled left(in order to keep the view left going) and move your eyes to the edge of their sockets in order to see the centre of the screen ! Is this correct or did I not set it up correctly ?

Read the link in my sig and all the links you find in the other postings. It should give you enough curage to try again. Read it all and thoughly.

yes. and no.

you will have to keep eyes on screen while you move your head.(which is disorientating at first) but you can program it to move as little or as much as you want, in relation to actual head movement.

take it back out. then look for T O A D..

he has lots of info for trackIR in his sig.

Toad - I've just read through your trackIR fix thread, and at the end you mention a 'linda blair views' bit, but the link goes straight back to general discussion....

Is this the 'looking directly backwards' view which I've seen on a couple of tracks but can't seem to replicate myself? Could you elaborate (again)? Cheers...

The "Linda Blair" view was where you could literally look 180 degrees to your rear. The problem was with the 1st TrackIR driver and has been fixed since.

Stick with it the_tyke. I see my posts are still in T_O_A_D's thread, but my pics aren't. Nonetheless, I did the same thing. I had it in my closet for months after trying it and not liking it initially.

I can't stand trying to fly without it now.

OK Thunderbolt, you've convinced me !
I'll get up into the loft and give it another go .

Forget Track_IR.... What we really need is a "virtual reality" pod in which we strap ourselves inside a 360 degree dome that has monitors on all sides.

There is your Track_IR fix.

Not removed Simon, the view limiting switch is still working in the very latest drivers (and every driver since the feature was introduced).

Look for 'ViewLimiting' in registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NaturalPoint\NATURALPOI NT\V3.03 GX and change the value from 1 to 0. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

track ir rocks !!
put on enhanced mode with deadzone, and u wont fly without anymore, real 3d awareness and natural padlock, no longer lose eyecontact with enemy, really. without enhanced mode it sucks and is frustrating.

Go and fetch it down! I hate flying IL-2 without my TrackIR fired up. With dedicated support the TrackIR really shines. Just edit the response curves and give yourself a bigger deadband while increasing the pan speed towards the end of the axis.

And if for some daft reason you still don't like it then don't put it in your loft, sell it to some IL2 fan as everyone should have a Track IR.

In the meantime, here's a couple of "available now" solutions, provided you have the $$:

Great I see the rest have helped you out. Yep LB is still there. If your the sort that just has to find and exploit to gain an edge.

Funny TBolt last I looked your pics were still there??? Oh I just looked they are there page two.

Did you read one of the last post, I made to it. The Birsd of prey have a real nice graphical picture of the advantage of the Ball on thier forum!!!! Very nice work. I wish I could edit original and put all the good stuff in opne place. Maybe I should just combine it all and slp a web page up.

I've found it MUCH better and easier to use when you are in wide angle view.
just a couple of questions, I have the enhanced mode set in dead zone. do you find that is the best.
I'd like if possible to try and copy somebody's set up but for some reason can't connect to those links.
