S! and Howdy Guys

I have some color blind Pilots I fly with. They can't see runways on Grass or Desert.

I'm wanting to know what abjects I can place along the side of taxiways and runways that will allow them to see the edge without killing FPS and hogging up ram. I'm thinking sanbags, but if you run them over, in a turn to grass in an emergeny exit you will crash, I would imagine haven't tested. I know I can use campfires but I think they look a bit silly during the day, and the give away the base from the air, too easily.

So if you can't suggest any thing better than that, I would like to request a white paint stripe in objects or a Rock stubble row painted white. Something that can be driven over with no damage.

I already host with custom Icons that show type only so they can tell the difference from friend and foe. To solve that issue http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Thanks for your time!

While im not colour Blind I fully agree that the Desert map its extremely difficult to see the runways while taking off, Landing seems fine to me.

Perhaps at least better colour contrast is required as well.

From pics I have seen planes in Africa just seem to take off a Huge graded area rather than a designated runway like in IL2 Which makes it somewhat harder.

TOAD just place 2 camp fires on each end of runway at the corners. Helps alot...as you coming in for landing. Camp firels don`t kill fps from what i can tell

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Coming in isn't really thier problem they can see the contrast from above its when taxing and during takeoff they loose site of it. I've shown them wide view but still no good. I can open up WW but it a mortal sin as far as I'm concernd. I want the strip to look realistic for us guys with out color blindness, but still be usable for them. The fires at eash end does no good in the Pit till your tail up.

You could try a realistic mixture of objects lined up on the sides of the runway...

Trees, trucks, sandbags, static planes, control towers, tents, etc...mix them all together it may look better.

Put them not exactly at the side edge of runway, but just a little beyond, so if they do go off runway they can have a chance to rudder back on without crashing into these objects.

I'll try the campfires But in the day light seams silly. and adding in trucks and other odd and ends just loads up the other guys with more Ram load with smaller machines. They also hit the FPS This I know because I already have maps built this way. I get complaints on having too much loaded in. But hey keep bumping it up with suggestions maybe someone will see this http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Its hard for me to see the Desert Runways on takeoff, Im just wondering how other people with so called normal eyesight find it?

Do you guys have any trouble seeing the Runways from cockpit view?

I dont have a problem with grass strips but to me the desert ones are Tough to see from the pit while takeing off.
Im not supposed to be colour blind as I have been tested several times and Im using an ATI graphics card.

The Desert is tough no doubt.

I have the ATI 9800 and just a week ago it was tough with my ti 4600 aswell.

What I do is move the outside edge of RW,TXW enough, that I can see the inner edge and I use rudder enough to stay the same distance to egde, as I takeoff or taxi.

Just thought of another object that might be cool what about used tires. Along that note I'd like scrap heeps, ah but that Off topic.

Yep hard on take off. make sure your object on land are the same ( repetition ) will take less memory but will still be a fps killer.
No boat ( helas they always shoot )

You can try the polls on each sides a la race style.
No Big flak try 20 mm flaks and not to much AAA.
