FYI the long awaited 1.2 patch for LOMAC was released yesterday 6/15. I know, I know, how dare I speak of another sim other than FB. But I know there are FB pilots who have spent some time chuckin sticks (missles). Perhaps you were like me and got fed up with the bug/performance of LOMAC after its initial release in November 03 and the 1.1 patch in January. If you have wiped LOMAC off your drive you now have a reason to reload it. The 1.2 patch makes LOMAC run like it should have when it was released. Lots of bug fixes and code optimizations make for a relatively smooth and bug free experience. Haven't totally tested it (that would take days, weeks) but so far so good. Though no F-18 or any other flyable jet :-(

Hmmm, looks like were getting another patch for AEP soon. More good news. Thats what I like to see: good flight sims competing for your time.

For the record, I prefer the intimacy of WWII guns only engagements. I hope future Maddox flight sims include some of LOMAC's eye-candy (dynamic shadows on planes, higher res terrain) Though FB's water FX beats LOMAC's.

I would be surprised if BoB didnt surpass LOMAC in this respecthttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

LOMAC looks excellent, but it runs on a heavily upgraded flanker 2.0 engine dosn't it?

I tried lomac played 5 hours.
Overall I don`t like it.First of all I`d need spaceage hardware and TrackIR otherwise it`s not enjoyable.

LOMAC is overwhelming in its detail and complexity.

If you can get a handle on it, its the best looking jet sim since Falcon.

Havent even down loaded the first patch.
Dunno, something about the whole initial joystick thing having to use RTS on MS Force Feedback kinda killed the whole thing off for me.
Perhaps I should give it another chance LOL
The initial " Oh there will only be 1 patch because of money" thing as well really pissed me off. It kinda gave the game that neglected feeling.

LOMAC has been a nice diversion for me. Its worth the money. The support has obviously grown for it, seeing that there is yet a second patch that seems to have not only corrected some issues, but added some nice, new things as well. Hats off to the Eagle Dynamics team!!!

On the other hand, I was flying FB last night on perfect with ATI's new 4.6 drivers, and down close to the waters in the Pacific map . . . I was absolutely stunned!!!! Nothing could replace FB for me . . . at the present . . . NOTHING!

Well this is the issue,

A game will have bugs and consumer issues on release. If you take time to correct those bugs and issues in phase with valid consumer input the result is pushing perfection. This results in a strong consumer base allowing addons and expansions to sell like hot cakes.
Go the route of LOMAC, and all you are going to get is the initial purchase and then nothing.

Dumb tactics

With all respect, I woudn't call two patches "nothing". Not everything in those patches is code fix. there are game enhancement features as well . . . and both came during LOMAC's first year. When I bought the game, I headed over to the LOMAC forum, and some of the first advice that I received was from a member of the development team. Damn fine support, if you ask me.

It was never stated there was only going to be one patch, where did you get that silly idea? If another one is needed they'll do that too (as stated by the devs themselves), but quite honestly i don't think it's needed, they seem to have got the second patch just right, while intergrating new features.

Yup, they said from the start that 1.01 was a quick fix, and that a more complete fix was being developed to fix as much as possible. From what I understand from a couple of buddys of mine that fly LOMAC only, the sim is nothing short of stunning.

Someone stated that they thought FB was the best at low level over the water. Bwahahaha http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif. get down and dirty in LOMAC over the ocean, and over land near towns. It'll bring tears to your eyes.

Amen.

Lomac is one sweet lookin piece of software. Now that the problems are sorted out, and the performance kicked up several notches, ED has a winner.

I have had an excellent time with the A-10. I can't wait to get home and play some more. I'm really looking forward to some online play once I've gotten a better grip on the weapons systems (they make me feel stupid sometimes).

Lomac rocks hard now.

I coudn't agree with you more. I just purchased the sim today , installed the patches and the sim is smooth as silk. I will definatley be spending allot of time pushing that F-15 through the sky. I'm so pleased withthe sim that I'm going to put it on the Birds Of Prey server and see what kind of crowed I can get. It looks like Warbirds Birds Of Prey will be running 3 games on the server now. IL2FB, Pacific Fighters, and now LOMAC.
