i was reading the specs for SHIII. it appears as though the ati radeon 9000 card is ok. can i expect graphics as good as the screenshots ive seen with a 64mb card or should i get the 9200 with 128 mb?

64MB would be the 'minimum'. They stated 128MB was recommended. ALWAYS purchase the best card you can. The speed of the GPU on the video card has more to do with the 'quality' of the graphics than the memory does. The amount of memory on the card has to do with the 'quantity' of graphics that can be prerendered. The price difference shouldn't be that much for the same card with higher memory. Get the best you can. Hold off on getting it as long as possible. More time to save more money. Better prices/deals after Christmas too.

ah a tech question http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

ok Fenrir383, as hauitsme has already pointed out the amount of RAM on the card isn't as important as the speeds that the GPU and the RAM run at.
a 9200 is a good budget card for older games, its only DirectX 8 so you won't get all the new special effects and graphics stuff you may want in SHIII
i'd recommend a 9600 Pro or XT
they have a good price tag now, are DirectX 9, and are pretty fast both on the GPU and RAM.
they are a 128mb card, i haven't seen em in a 64, which is probably a good thing

hauitsme is also right about spending the cash for a good card, they can make or break your gaming system and gaming experience, and with SHIII, u'd definately want to make it an experience http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

oh and those screen shots are probably off an Nvidia 5950 ultra or a 9800XT, so don't count on that level of detail unless u got alot of cash to throw into a card! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
man, i wish i had that sorta cash http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
