My personal fave would have to be AC4 or ACU

EDIT: I can't get Brotherhood's right, but at least it's similar to AC2's

My favorite is AC1, it holds all the mistery and conspiracy theme, it really seems like you're in the animus. From AC2 to Revelations it was Ok, but after AC3 the HUD really seems like any other games.

AC1 and ACR. I never liked AC2/ACB's huge icons.

AC I, by far.

AC1 and ACR.

AC3 is the worst. I hate that new health bar. I much prefered it when it was like a half moon. It looked much cleaner.

ACI is nice...

Not too big or too much like the others.

Ew, I just saw Liberations. What happened to it?

Definitely AC:R. It felt so simple, so beautiful and dark and it does its purpose. From HUDs (synch bar, weapons, map) to menus and map, it was the best. The colors, the fonts, the designs and shapes, it was THE BEST!

AC:3 has the best layout (near perfection), AC:2/B has the best color scheme, and AC:IV/RO has the best style/looks.

[EDIT] Liberation HD's HUD.

AC1's is my favourite closely followed by AC3's (I preferred the pre-alpha HUD but this one's good too - nice, minimalist and sleek). However I'm going to be a child and refuse to vote because it irks me whenever I see Liberation included in these polls and not the other spin offs, it simply doesn't belong with the main-line entries.

Does that mean Rogue doesn't either? Since both were only released on limited platforms.

To be fair, Liberation HD's HUD should be allowed. OP needs to be edited.

Also,

This one was interesting.

I don't like the target demo one (the health squares are too big like AC2) but the others look so much better than the final version. I'm not entirely satisfied with the weapon icons in AC3 through ACRO/Unity. I'd prefer smaller, minimalistic icons like AC1's weapon wheel.

Rogue's considered part of the main-line if I'm not mistake, "the 8th instalment of the Assassin's Creed franchise" as Wikipedia calls it, and it was also developed first and foremost for consoles and PC. Liberation on the other hand was orginally a handheld title which was only much later ported to consoles. Include Altair's Chronicles and Discovery and I'll quit my whining.

Either AC4 or ACU for the more modern and rounded look. I liked how AC 1's HUD doesn't show the money count because I find that very irrelevant. Although I dislike ACU's mini-map, it takes my vote because it doesn't have the money counter in this screen.

That's because AC1 didn't have any currency.

Hey, I don't even have that game anymore. That makes sense though.

I played AC2 first so when I went to AC1 and I didn't have internet I kept wondering where the shops were. I had a crappy old SD TV so I couldn't even read the words. I kept staring at the icon that said "Player Marker" because I thought it said Player Market. I never did find that market. :p

You know what? Why not? Here's Chronicles, Bloodlines, and Discovery.

This makes me pray that the only future handheld titles we get are ports of the main games, companion apps and interactive movies/books/art apps. It’s beyond confusing to play an open world game with such detail and demand for control and focus on a handheld, from PS Vita to an iPad or an iPhone. I mean I got AC Identity and controlling the character is a disaster, even though the graphics are almost PS3 graphics on an iPad.

And this is exactly why we should stick to just the main ones. We're at a rate of 2 sequels per annum now, and in a few years' time it'll be impossible to even fit all the games into a single poll.

For me it's a tie between AC1 and AC3, but voted for AC1, I like the simplicity of it.
ACU's HUD looks interesting too, can't wait to try it myself.

I kind of agree with pac on the life bar on AC3, but other then that it looks okay.

Crap, I voted for AC4 thinking the poll was asking about the Animus corridors, not the UI. For UI, I have to give it to AC1 or 2 (they're both essentially the same except for the health bar).

And lol at insinuating that Rogue has a different UI than AC4

Ac2 is my favorite because I think it has the perfect blend of not too much and not too little on the map... ac1s map was absolutely terrible... It didn't need to be there... and I hate the later ones for having your marker on the screen pulling you in the direction... I hate having something moving around on the screen...

Brotherhood's, because it's the best AC game to ever exist.

It's the EXACT same except there's a different color background on the map.

I liked AC1's for it's sync bar. It's appearance as well as it's function in game felt more like "synchronization bar" you would expect in an animus, and less like a "health bar" that it has become now. I liked how it reacted when you strayed from Altairs path by killing civilians or to areas where memories where not available. The older AC games paid more attention to these references to the animus than new ones, as far as I've gathered.

For instance, In AC2 (and maybe some others) i liked the animations for way the landscapes appeared at the beginning and end of each sequence; like 3d models being sketched up in a computer system. Newer AC games do things like this too, but I feel I prefer these small attention to details in the older games.

I already made an analysis. They're different.

* The quadrilaterals are shattered. Watch some gameplay videos in 1080p.

* The color scheme is different.

* Some of the quadrilaterals have been flipped/displaced. e.i - the weapon icons on the bottom right / weapon wheel

I couldn't agree more. Those little details made all the difference in the game's ambientation. I wish they paid such attention to details on the lastest games.

Does having to open up the start menu count... cause if it does then AC3 has the absolute worst one... It killed my eyes every time! And it was so ugly and not user friendly at all.... I like unitys start up menu... It looks much simpler and easy to use... well it looms exactly like AC2-ACR...
