Thanks for the heads up Lead. That's great news. I remember this type of thing being discussed once or twice when the original IL2 came out. Never thought we'd actually see it though.

absolutley not, having two seprate lobbies would have cut the online play in half. Now we will all be in one online lobby. The majority of the hosts choose historical planesets theres always 2-3 who have all planes types not being historical which i dont care for much at all either.

This is also good for the future since new maps an aircraft can always be added. Not dropping FB/aep plane sets and maps for PF only aircraft.

Im sure PF will have a couple good addons down the road like the AEP pack.

They can also make a new gold pack including all three in one package for new users who dont have any of them yet. And they are getting alot for thier money

Yes, its intended for the best unified possibilities. Offline, there will be missions for strict Pacific Theater, and online servers should not have any problems establishing requirements for the same. Yet both offline and online will have the choice to mix anyway players desire. It looks to be the best of both worlds with no apparent compromise.

The only problem I see with this is that we will have so much new content that we need to discover and play that if BOB were to come on schedule we would stop playing PF/AEP before it's even run it's course.

I doubt BOB will come out when it should I'm sure it will be a year or so late.

Otherwise It's a great idea as I don't think I would have purchased PF as a standalone and the community would definitley have been split in two.

"Notice: I think add-ons with the planes we can submit only for united version (option PF inot FB/AEP install). We will see after the release."

If it means that you have to have both FB/AEP + PF to install addonplanes then its not so good. But i guess i would've bought PF anyway so... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/354.gif

But on the other hand its good that we will be able to use a/c from both theaters in FB & vice versa...didnt they have Hellcats in ETO too? And other stuff like that...

Depends if you want a game or a historical simulation. I'm not saying that I won't try and land a TB-3 on a carrier, but IL-2 did start out as an attempt at an accurate historic simulation.
I'm pleased that the two are compatible otherwise FB would be forgotten very quickly, but Stukas over Wake or Midway - what's the point? The Japanese had perfectly good dive-bombers that we will hopefully get.
Oh well, each to their own I suppose.

Hellcats & Wildcats did fly over Europe with the F.A.A. although were mainly allocated to the S.E.A.

The game is about all about imagination and I think this will expand the game to more of those 'what if' scenerio's.

After all every time we play it we are playing a 'what if' scenario anyway!

I'm very pleased; this will prevent the extinction of online coop missions. It's already hard enough to get a good coop going without a split population of pilots. (I hate it when there's a leaked patch and you spend an evening switching back and forth between two versions only to find out in the load screen that you still have the wrong version.) And it opens the possibility of some Med scenarios.

Really, the only argument I ever heard for incompatible games was that a few people were terrified of that someone could make a historically inaccurate mission, which would be the end of civilization as we know it. And Lord knows no one ever did that in IL2. And WWII was exactly like the free-for-all dogfight servers.

Ironically, some of those whining the loudest for incompatible games were the same people who liked to design missions pitting '44 planes (their side) against '41 planes (the other side).

Hi,

While I'd have happily bought a copy or two of PF regardless, it'll be especially delightful to see standing IL2FB content benefit through another development cycle. That is, I'm assuming we'll be able to repopulate the Kuban with earlier model Cobras designed primarily for PF, and etc.

Anyway, I'm grateful that 1C continues to defy the industry tradition of regarding a game's basic mechanics as disposable.

Cheers,

Well, what do you know, Oleg does actually listen to us! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif I was one of the people who whined early and often when it was announced that Pacific Fighters would be a stand alone product. It was bad enough that keeping them seperate would split the community without the added problem of not having a game that is clearly distinguished from Cousin Billy's Combat Flight Sim 2.0 Yes, WE all know it would be better, but the average consumer looking at the games on the shelf at his local store would only see two versions of the same thing and probably go for the Microsoft version due to knowing Microsoft and not knowing UBI or trusting something made by a Russian. This way, the game will have the planes the new person "thinks" they'll be interested in and then they can expand their horizons to include all the planes we know and love that you just can't get from any other flight sim game.

I'll not only buy it, man, I'll pre-order it just to show my support for the developers! Very smart move on Oleg's and UBI's part!

Oleg, get some sleep! I'll wait for the game to be right instead of right now! My very best wishes to you and your family!

Now with an actual index & more fiber! It is newer & and even more improved! It's Luckyboy's Guide For Complete Users!...

I must admit, the question had been raised some time ago how the big radial engined Corsairs may have faired over europe?
Well normally I am a stickler for authenticity, but I will be conducting my own research on this one.
The radials like the P47's didn't have to worry about coolant leaks which could roast an engine quicker than brewin' a billy of tea in a forge.
But I grew up on Guadalcanal and I Looooove my Pacific Theatre.
Oleg, CHEERS Mate and get some rest. Don't concern yourself. I have deleted my CFS3 forever and I am more than willing to wait for and pay for a quality product. Also, you will soon learn (as I did) that regardless of the sleepless nights, your family is irreplacable and will cause some of the happiest (as well as the most worrying) times in your life. The strange thing is, You probably wouldn't want to change a thing in years to come.

Just remember,
FAMILY COMES FIRST MATE!!
