I think the gist of the post is that he's looking for 3-views of the Devastator. Maybe for the purposes of modelling it.

After all, no one is building a Devastator, and it is very important and relevant to the Pacific theatre.

There are some pics and a drawing of the cockpit here

Thank you Fennec, you're ever so helpful http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The reason I was confused is because up until this point I was under the imporession that I was managing this project. Let's dissect the original post...

Seems that no-one is building a Devastator
<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

* I am not aware of any official word stating that nobody was working on the TBD.

* I also assumed that it was in my domain to determine who builds which planes.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>
so if anyone has good 3 views I can d/l please notify -thanks
<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

* I have very good references on a tremendous amount of Pacific planes and other objects. When I assign a project to somebody I usually provide the modeler with everything he needs to build the model.

Basically, that one short sentence baffled me on many different levels http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Mig-man. If you want to build something for the project, please email me at Luthier@il2center.com and let me know what your experience with max is, and send some samples of your work. Then I'm going to assign you a project, which based on your experience level may not nessecarily be a plane. You can't just pick a random plane and decide to model it on your own http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Better start modelling now MiG-Man! It must be done before PF comes out!

The Douglas SBD-5, yes,; The Grumman TBF-3,yes; the Douglas TBD-1 Devastator,oh no. a true widow maker. I do have a good three view from the "Complete World WarII Combat Aircraft" by Enzo Angelucci. (Borders Special)
I could scan it for you if you if you can't find one otherwise. But please, think Avenger.

The TBD should be included. "Widow maker" or not, the TBD was what we started out with and simply deserves to be in the sim on that alone.

Now, if you factor in the courage of the men who flew it, then there is no doubt about it.

And I like the way it looks too...

In this case, Luthier, could you please provide me with the information you've got about the CW-21B Interceptor? I'm building it for either PF or IL2FB or both. PF depends on your willingness to accept it I guess.

You have my email (jeroen).

Thanks.

Step aside Luthier! Let the pros do the work.... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/mockface.gif

Now seriously...
- Please make sure u talk to Luthier BEFORE anything, not even posting here.
- Don't make assumptions.
- To make a hole plane u need experience, commitment and buckets of time. But if u wanna learn, I am sure there is lots of things besides planes that u can do. (IE: Start with tutorials, then building, then vehicles and then...)
- I am interested in the TBD, but I can't tell u if it is on the PF or no...http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Looks like Luthier was perturbed by the assumption that the Devastator was not being modeled for PF... guess we'll just have to wait
for E3 or the official memo.. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

All he had to say was "if you are interested in modelling plane-X send me an email regarding this and a work sample" or something like that, no need to be so rude or obtuse.

ummm - lets cut Luthier a little slack..
I doubt if he has had much sleep in a while..

Besides - there have been a few outlandish posts - not that this was one.. and he has been rather patient in my opinion.

No. But you can decide to let them out of PF, because that IS in your domain. But modeling is a matter between a man and his MAX.

If they want to take the risk... it's up to them. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Um... For what it's worth, I did the Ar 196 and I'm working on PF at the moment. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif We've seen three Mosquitos, two meteors, three different Fokker D.21s, and about a dozen other things get started & never finished, including half a dozen of my own projects. If he wants to do something, OK, but it's really easy to end up at a dead-end with no option left but to abandon the project you might be working on... Especially if starting something that's already probably claimed by someone else. That's what we have the Netwings effort and the database for. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Exactly, the database.

But, correct me if I am wrong here, but so far there has been no formal announcement from anyone in authority regarding this aircraft so how is anyone supposed to know if it is, in fact, being worked on or not?

Don't take this the wrong way and certainly contacting Luthier privately would be the best way, but don't knock the guy for not having information or drawing a (possibly) incorrect conclusion when information is not shared.

Even in this thread there has been no confirmation one way or the other about the status of this plane so it seems disingenious for anyone to get their knickers in a bind over someone wanting to build it.
