Hi!

I'm using

CH Fighterstick USB +
CH Pro-Throttle USB +
CH Pro-Pedals USB

and I'm very pleased with this combo.
The price is about $320.

I'll second that recommendation for CH controllers I use a USB CH Fighterstick, Pro Throttle and Pro Pedals. The good thing about that setup is you can buy it piece by piece and built up into a very programmable and very durable HOTAS. The joysticks have a throttle wheel on the base so a separate throttle unit is not an immediate need but once combined with a Pro Throttle that joystick throttle wheel coems in handy for trim input or prop pitch adjustment in IL-2. If you wanted to get the joystick and throttle and get rudders later then the microstick on the throttle unit can be used for a hand operated rudder. Provantage (http://www.provantage.com/buy-110CHPU-ch-shopping.htm) have those devices for $100 each although if you only play sims like IL-2 then maybe the cheaper CH USB Combatstick might suit your needs, it has two less hat switches than the Fighterstick but stil lvery programmable using the CH Control Manager software.

Joysticks are a very personal thing, so I'd recommend you try as many examples as you can from:

Thrustmaster
Saitek
CH Products
Microsoft (if you can find them, they're not made any more)

Buy the one that best suits you.

I fly with the Saitek X45 and I've found it to be versatile, durable and responsive. I've also had good experiences with Microsoft and Thrustmaster equipment. CH Products items are more expensive but almost always get complimented by their users and they never seem to wear out.
