is anyone wanting to model the B-17 for Forgotten Battles or Luthiers FB sequal ?

I need no convincing.. Id rather wait for a decent model thanhave something rushed that is off. Ive spent enough time in sims with poorly modeled cockpits and extreiors..... no thanks.

Same as above...thank you.

Modelling (both fm and 3d model) is tough and time consuming. It's a testament to the quality of the sim for all the modelers involved to keep the quality requirements high and stick to them.

Oleg, is there any news from the 3rd party modelers that were doing the B-24?

Gibbage said (in a General Discussion thread 4 or 5 months ago) that he is willing to take on the project if he could have a team of modelers to help. Otherwise, it is probably more work than one person can handle in a reasonable time period. He should know because he is working on flyable stations for the PBY Catalina. That model was set aside last year because he was asked to model the Spit and P-38--he also finished his flying wing for AEP.

I´m modeling the B-17 interior, but I´m having really problems to find all necesary blueprints.

This make me go very slowly in the modeling.
If someone can help me looking for good blueprints...

If you are willing to pay for them you can get schematics on thsi site for $4.95 each. They have the B-17. Haven't tried them myself.. I have no idea of the quality.

Thanks to Oleg for posting about WIP on flyable bombers. I want to take this opportunity to ask if anyone has flown the BF110? yes? have you switched to reargunner position? yes now hold down #3 key and swing the mouse cam to look forward toward the front of th a/c. Look - I dont see anything fictitious there and that is what I love about this sim. Sure a label here or there might be out of place or maybe in the small hours of the morning after many hours of manipulating code and the programmer decides to place a small personal item somewhere - Im ok with that. Look at that rear gunner station! wow.
I am so glad that Oleg and co. are taking care to put as much into this thing as they are. I kno I cant begin to understand what it takes to make the virtual BF110 patrol the virtual skies from their perspective (code)
But regardless of an anomaly here or there - I appreciate it. And these glimpses into their tasks only impresses me as much as their willingnes to share it with us. Thanks for your ongoing efforts - I will wait here (flying) patiently for whatever fixes and new planes / features as lie ahead. That is a sweet cockpit fore and aft baby.

I always suspected that the bombers would take a whole lot more work. However, I find the B-17, B-25 and the B-29 to be such an important part of the air war in WWII that not having them as flyable planes leaves a large gap in trying to make a "complete" WWII flight simulation game. Has anyone tried to contact Boeing to see if they have information to help in this matter? I would be happy to do the "research" here if something would come of my efforts.

Oh yeah! One more thing. If someone wanting to do the modelling on a B-29 wants like, complete pictures and everything inside and out of a B-29, I live 3 miles from fullfilling your request! Just e-mail me at...

hi,
before modelling much more new planes even bombers etc.
the game needs a main reprogramming of the 'virtual pilot view system' in the game engine.

i'ts a view system (gnomish view at many planes) more compare to the hight of pilot eyes watch in a Il-2 cockpit type...
Anyway: a patch to adjust the pilots seat could be a way to performe the view in this running pc-sim.

For BoB: we are looking forward to an advanced view system and hope the Maddox -team will work on this.

Reposted, in case it gets missed.

S!

Is it possible that Skin download [on], could cause a change in/ affect the flight dynamics in some way, of a targeting aircraft when it is within guns range of it's flying target ?

What happens is; the dynamics seem to change to become very sensitive, even the most smallest of stick movement will have the plane almost into an immediate stall. Low speed normal speed, turning speed all seem to be affected, though I can understand high and low speed stalls. (but at turning speed ?)
Having it on also seems to drive the ping up.
Would it be possible to determine if such is in fact the case and again, if possible develop a switch that host could use to render this feature inactive for all players?

Maybe alter the game so that a flyer would actually have to have a particular skin onboard to see it on another flyer's plane?

MS CFS3 had similar but it was the target that would jitter rendering a kill impossible.

Sorted out most of the above post.... reinstalling my USB drivers helped.

Is Prop Wash or similar modelled ?

Will be flying along and will feel a slight buffeting and sure enough an enemy plane will be present but a slight way (400 ish) off...not close.

Still managing to stall away from the enemy plane, no matter which side of me it is on.
eg:
If I climb with wings level and stall... should the enemy plane be on my right, I will stall left.
If I climb with wings level and stall... should the enemy plane be on my left, I will stall right.

I use a FFB 2
Is it true that "Stalls and Spins" off on the options has more realistic stalls etc, than with it on ? ....seeking opinion

Please do not sell your game out for $$

From my pilot's heart i seek your game out...just think what the 'real' Mother Land's pilots would think if you cave in. This can be one of the true great sim games of all time!

Thank you and Salute from a fan that appreciates the real thing
