Hmmm...I've never had that happen. I fly the 40 on occasion, but never had that.

I'm sure some one can shed light on the issue...If they can help me with my "cloud mold of doom" than they can help with spontaneously exploding P-40s.

What version of IL2 are you running? There was a bug in the game when it first came out that the P-40 would explode if it reached a certain speed in a dive.

Now this is EXACTLY why you should RECORD !

Goto Controls when running FB...
Define a key for quick record...

Then after you enter your cockpit in-game - press that key...

A Quick recording will be saved in the /records/ dir under FB... They DO NOT overwrite like the screencaptures (dont do those! they lag the game).

Afterwards you can replay the game you played - ALL views are enabled - TimeShift is enabled (no rewind - but hey). You can see what happened, analyze whats going on afterwards (even if the game had cocpit locked), best of all - delay it, cranck up the graphics settings - and get the good picture http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

And it does not lag the game - not online even http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Heads-on firing was not a safe practice after all ?
Jussi Huotari: It was not specially recommendedÔ.....
And later, as the Russians were armed with 20mm cannons, it was unwise to meet them heads-on
