Okay, I could go for this.

Good short read, thanks http://www.csd.uwo.ca/~pettypi/elevon/baugher_other/a7mbau.html

If NAVY went along with the original idea, maybe A7M would have made it to the playground in time. I can go with Bearcat too. All of them, maybe even Fb109Z (my fave next to MiG I~224).

I'll take a Workhorse over a Prototype that never saw action any day.

I don't make the desicions as to what gets modeled though, so I just thankfully take what is offered me like the satisfied customer I am. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I was thinking the P-51H actually saw combat service.

Nope, the P-51H was the only Mustang to never see combat in any war. It is also the only version that was never sold to a foreign power. 370 had been delivered to the Army Air Force by VJ day, but none made it to the combat area before the end of hostilities. By the time the Korean war started, almost all of the P-51H's had been phased out of active duty.

You've got my vote with F8 Crusader (MigMaster)

The A6, A7 and F8 Crusader are my favorite set of aircraft. I've asked in more than one thread for Maddox 1C to develop a decent 1960-1970 air combat sim. (Vietnam, Israel, etc) There's some decent websites (search Google) but not as many books.

The only reason I still hang onto my copy of Janes Fighter Anthology is the second cd with VIDEOS of these late 60-mid 70 aircraft.

Maybe we need a thread somewhere under UbiSoft (Maddox) for our favorite 1960- mid 1970's aircraft (F4 Phantom included - If anybody has Jane's USAF try a set of those 3D glasses with it)

Oooo Reppu thread ...didn't a mod say no more A7M threads? But oh well, since one got started might as well http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

A7M's my favorite plane of all time. Great maneuverability, powerful weaponry, cool lines. That being said, an F8F is still an overall better plane, as it is more compact, a lot faster. The biggest drawback of the Reppu is that due to wanting to give it a higher wingloading, they made the plane a lot bigger than the Zero. But it's a cool plane since it had a burlyness that Japanese planes lacked.

A CFS2 repaint of the plane I did, a great model by Yashico:

Just some friendly advice but Bobbybob you might want to read the rules of conduct. Otherwise you may just get booted off the forums.

why on earth would the A7M's designers want their plane to have a HIGHER wingloading sugaki ?

Oops, I meant low-wing loading and large wing area. Meaning speed's sacrificed http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Sorry bout that.

At 627 km, it's not a very fast plane by 1945 standards (can't get used to talking about speed in mph).

WUAF_Badsight
05-05-2004, 11:55 PM
627 kmh is still plenty fast

i guess that was around 20,000 feet ?

& higher loaded wings dont necessarily mean faster speed ...... a wings shape AND size make for speed

Yeah but toward the end of the war with F8Fs, planes were moving toward 700km, like with the F8F and the Sea Fury (man I'd love to see all three in an expansion, I'd buy it in a heartbeat).
