Seeing as IL2 FB now has add ons like AEP and BOE wouldnt it be good if PF was open to them as well? I have the Royal Navy Aviation Collection which features flyable Swordfish, Barracuda and a heap of others for CFS1 and higher, as well as lots of Abacus addons like Pearl Harbor, Midway and Guadalcanal. If these folk could do the same for PF it would be good.

Yes.

Edit: Wait, I misread what you said. Good that there will be add-ons? Absolutely. That would theoretically keep me employed. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Good for anybody who likes to modify the game to be able to do so? No. This has been discussed a billion times already. Which of course means this thread will probably turn in to Argument About Maddox Add-On Policy #1,000,000,001. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Brakovitch, humbly, no. The two examples you gave are completely different. Aces was a full blown add-on where BoE was really just a bunch of skins with a campaign system built it. The whole problem of open source sim (like MS's craptacular CFS) is the open source. It allows any teenager with a computer to pretend he knows how to program. I worked for years for MS, on Me, Win2000 and XP, as well as quite a bit of dev work on the various flight sims. I did NOT do the flight modeling and stuff, it was just boilerplate regular C stuff. Too recount though, I'm sure you meant well, but open source may work for UNIX, but not for flight sims my friend. All the best, LongHorn
