Evening gents.

I was just wondering if the designers are willing sometime or another, to implement a feature that would let you set your airplane to not have tracer rounds loaded.

I've read that a number of American pilots did this, and although initially their shooting was worse, they eventually started leading and calculating deflection solely in their mind, rather than watching their tracers... Some pilots becoming real crack shots in the process.

I don't know if any German, Russian, or British pilots did this. If so, I think it would even further validate the feature being implementable. Just a humble request. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif S~

option to turn off tracers - cool.

I find more bandits by spotting tracers than anything else (full real)

btw, how many times did anyone break after seeing tracers flying past him?

sometimes you never see your pursuer and only his tracers alert you.

Without tracers, it would become even easier to score a kill once you're in someone's six

Turning off the tracers would be a nice feature, not least when flying a plane with nose mounted guns! The smoke trail of most ammo types are extremely overdone and almost blinds you completely together with the much-criticized muzzle-flashes. To be historically correct there should be no muzzle-flashes at all, and the tracers should look a lot more like the american .50 cal. rounds do allready.
If these changes can't be made, at least give us the opportunity to switch them off completely!
No whining intented, Il2FB is definately the best sim EVER!

I thought this was a good idea a while back but I've changed my mind. If there was an option then everyone would take it and no one would be using tracers.

Tracers make it easier to identify who's shooting who from the colour and they also help you find the action. As hardware and software limitations don't make spotting aircraft and recognising their type as easy as it is in real life then without tracers it would just make it more difficult.

The old argument will come up about full real or full difficulty, as it will just be more difficult but not as real. Plus I think very few squadrons opted out of using tracers, and knowing full difficulty servers no one will be using them the day the option is given.

It would be nice to shut of tracers of ships and such as well...maybe seperate from aircraft. The anti aircraft tracers are a bit overdone and can really take a toll on frame rates...there would be an instant improvement in frames if even the smoke trails on AA were turned off
