The article basically slams the plane and implies it's only good qualities were massive numbers.

Thats probably not quite right, but a plane doesn't have to be good to be effective, especially with mass numbers.

This is not new, nor is it disinformation/ lies.....some of this has been debated by the Russians themselves- See "Il-2- Our Proud or Tragic Error?" Here (http://www.ctrl-c.liu.se/misc/ram/il2-art2.html)

BTW- The Germans apparently never flew a captured IL-2- open examination it was deemed too crude and even dangerous!
