Evening.......

I'm sure we all have our favorite Characters in AC......but who was the Best Voiced? REMEMBER this is just regarding their voices like their lines, dialogue, delivery, etc. I personally think that Revelations Altair and Connor are my favs.

What is yours?

Feel free to discuss.

I really like Edwards (Matt Ryan) because he was the most authentic. Apart from Assassins its definitely Haytham (Adrian Hough).

Yep, cause he was an Assassin.

Edward for sure. I LOVE his screams, and I love Matt Ryans VA in Constantine too. It's like seeing Edward with special powaz

I like Adrian Hough. He did a brilliant job voicing Haytham. I also like Noah Watts and Philip Shahbaz, even though he voiced Altair in an American accent.

I guess cause players were expecting him to be one since the game started with him.

He still is the son of an Assassin.

Plus I didn't want alot of people to be like: "Where's Haytham?" especially since alot consider him brilliantly voice acted.

I do as well.

Ezio, it was the performance that gave the most personality to the character imo.

So why not just have a "best voiced"? Ezios brothers were the son of an Assassin, I dont see them mentioned.

Jesus man.....I dunno. He still is an Assassin by blood so I guess he counts there. And the title was my fault.....an error.

But it's not really a big deal really.

No kidding. I enjoyed Federico more than Ezio, even if he also played Ugo with the exact same voice.

However, Roger Craig Smith is the best voice actor based on this list, just wasn't so great with Ezio.

Even though I voted Ezio, I agree with this. Matt is the better actor I think (he's great!). Just that Ezio has left a more lasting impression (he had three games ofc). Haytham and Adewale were also fine perfomances.

I was actually going to mention that AC1's and ACR's respective Altairs should have been separate options. But I voted for him anyway, purely because of Shahbaz's performance and because he was trailing behind the other characters in the poll.

EDIT: I'd like to add, I'm really surprised by the number of votes Edward has, I thought Matt Ryan's performance was okay but nothing impressive.

Ezio. The others were all mainly actors with theatre and TV backgrounds, which is a different kind of acting from voice-acting. Roger Craig Smith is primarily a voice actor, meaning he is used to expressing emotion expressly through his voice. Some people have a more difficult time adjusting to acting with their voice alone as opposed to body language and chemistry between co-actors. I think Smith did a fantastic job expressing everything through his voice in a time when mocap was still rare. The other actors since then have had the added advantage of having their facial expressions and body language mocapped to support their performance.

Hmm, this is a tough one. Cant vote for Haytham because he wasn't an assassin T_T

Never thought of Edward as a real assassin...

Ezio was voiced by a famous VA so it should be someone who hasn't done a lot of VA in general..

Haven't played with Adewale yet lol

Aveline.... uh...

Desmond, same reason as Ezio's

Altair and Connor are left. Damn, why couldnt this be multiple choice X_X...

The OP┤s question should have been "which protagonist had the best voice actor".

Wolfmeister1010
08-08-2014, 03:03 AM
Hm...well Haytham and Edward are definitely up there for me, Imma go with Connor because he portrayed such a difficult role so well. He is not delivering the lines flatly...in case you haven't noticed the Native Americans weren't exactly masters of the language belonging to those who slaughtered them.

Ezio's voice was...GAHHHHHHH

And putting ALtair's voice from AC1 and Rev in the same poll option probably really really annoyed M lol. Not gonna go back and read the previous pages.

well... I would have to say Haymitch. lol. close second would have to be edward, there was something about his voice that just made him "real" vs. the Ezio italian/spanglish accent.

altair didn't have a real accent either until revelations. haha but I still liked his voice! and connor's was alright! I liked it!

jayjay275

I really think Connor's voice acting was the best overall. Whilst Edward's did sound good, it sounded like Matt Ryan's normal voice, much like Nolan North's normal voice is used with Desmond and Nathan Drake. Ezio's voice was good, but it could grow a bit tiresome at some points.

Why isn't Machiavelli an option or even Yusuf? D:

It┤s hard to choose between Connor┤s, Haytham┤s, Edward┤s and Adewale┤s voice actors for me, since all of them did a fantastic job, portraying their characters. (I voted for Connor, though :D )
Roger C. Smith is a fantastic voice actor but, he didn┤t do a good job with Ezio. In my opinion he tried to hard with the italian accent and many of Ezio┤s lines, just sounded to affected.

Not all did, but Connor's mother was there as a fictional representation of the many who spoke English. Native Americans, by the time of ACIII's story, had been speaking English and travelling to England for a long time. It is not so surprising - each side needed to communicate with the other.

The first Native American to greet the pilgrims at the Plymouth Rock colony, Samoset, did so in English, asking them for beer. Although Samoset was not among those who had travelled to England, he had been speaking with English fishermen for many years. Samoset returned with Squanto to talk with them further. Squanto had worked as a translator for English people in both England and the New World since 1605.

The Native American leaders Manteo and Wanchese came to England in 1584, and were hosted by Sir Walter Raleigh.

I'd say my favorite VAs were Altair NR. 1 (AC1) and Ezio.
Probably Altair though.

The VA of Altair in AC1 managed to deliver a stellar performance without having a ridiculous accent and also managed to properly pronounce every arabic name and/or word he spoke in the game. Which is amazing IMO. Also I liked the tone of his voice, he really delivered the first arrogant and then redeeming himself and becoming wise Assassin.

Haytham and Edward were both fantastic.

I though Altair from AC1 was pretty forgettable. He was okay in ACR, I guess.

Ezio came off a little cheesy, to me (*braces for fanboy rampage*)

Aveline's accent was good, but her lines often felt forced.

Adewale was pretty friggin good.

I also liked Connor's voice acting, though he could get tiresome.

Anyway thought I would add this in

Although I think Edwards voice is amazing and fitting, I don't think Matt Ryan as a VA is extensive at all. I watched the pilot for Constantine and he sounds exactly the same as his portrayal of Edward. He just has a great "normal" voice.

Seriously, go watch constantine, close your eyes and its like Edward Kenway is on meth

That's not to detract from his performance though. If he does a great job with the character, that's all that matters.
