Turn it on and forget it.

You can 'increase/ decrease distance' if you feel you must, but since the game does not tell you what those distances are, it won't do much good. Just enable the acemaker and have yourself a killing spree http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Do you have to enable it?

Yeah. Map a key and you're ready to go.

It's the K-14 gunsight-
site, sight, whatever, it's a gunsight but it's getting spelled the way it sounds. It's not a website, lol

It's on a dash 20 P-51D and the P-80

Here's the deal.

You turn it on. It has 3 modes:

1)fixed (looks like the N9 on the P-51D-5)
2)fixed+gyro
3)gyro

you scroll through the choices

You select the "size" of the aircraft you want to fire at by it's wingspread. You can select anything from Bf109 wingspread to FW200 wingspread. If it isn't listed, use the closest approximation (there are aircraft names actually printed on the sight, and a pointer will indicate your choice).

The default range is something like 300 meters.

Now, if you are closer or farther away, you may resize the gyro sight manually. If the plane's wingspan goes from one edge of the gyro recticle to the other, it is the 'proper' range, and provided the target doesn't move before the bullets strike home, you will get a hit when you pull the trigger. It takes one or two seconds to stabilize. Personally, I don't rely on the gyro because of this, I typically use the fixed sight with the gyro rather than just the gyro sight.

Hi Mark, Make sure you're in the right model of the P-51. As far as I know this is the only plane in FB it is available for.

Man, we are getting close to Lockon with all the smart gun sights and stuffhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I know that P-63 had a radar worning system to worn about enemy on your six. Is it implemented in AEP?

You will have to assign a key to it..

Baldie- I just thought of this, as an FYI:

True, you do not know the range in precise meters without icons. But you don't have to! Just like the real thing, you don't need a measurement. Select the correct, corresponding wingspan for your target. When the wingtips are at the egde of the pipper, the range the sight is at, and the distance to target, are approximately the same, and the sight is calibrated to that distance. You use the increase and decrease commands to allow you flexibility in case your target is a) not one of the planes listed, so you may 'fine tune' the sight, and B) at a greater or closer relative range than the sight is currently set to. You'll never know the exact range but it's irrelevant, just size the sight to the target and that's the range the sight is set to for that distance. You never need to match up a distance with what you think the target is at, you just size the pipper. It's actually quite easy.
I shot out all four of a FW200's engines last night at a safe range, from his 6 o'clock. I only got hit twice http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif I sized the sight to "FW200", then I increased range a bit, then I put the center of the pipper right on an engine. Bingo. The sight will resize for each aircraft type by itself, because the sight uses the same range for each aircraft, and a different pipper size for each aircraft at the range the sight is currently at. So if you are 300 meters behind a BF109, and the sight is set to frame his wingtips, and you set it to 'FW200', the sight gets larger because that's where the wingspan of the FW200 is at that range. (I bet you already knew that)

~note: K-14 gunsights should be in the-

P-51D-20NA
YP-80

as I indicated earlier, the D-5NT Mustang has only the N-9 gunsight, not the K-14 (and as a cool note, they are very different physically, compare 'em http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif ) The D model Mustang you want (it's only in D models) is the dash 20 model, if you are looking for a K-14 http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I just discovered that the circumfrence of the sight actually moves in and out. I didnt know that. I use a MSFFB/X45/CHPedal combo setup. The hat switch of my FFB is set to F1,F3,Num5 & F2 at the 12,3,6 & 9 O'clock positions. The black button of my X45 throttle is set for Alt,Ctrl & Shift..depending on the mode. Alt+F2 decreasest the sight, Alt+F3 increases it and Alt+Num5 will toggle it through the cycles. But you will have to set the commands according to your own setup. I didnt know the sight moved. I had actually landed after outrunning two 190s tat had been on my tail for a while. I started to fool with the sight and noticed it moving. The scale moves too. Thats what the adjust sight left and right command is on the control setup. It moves that slider between the Me109 and FW200 setting. You just have to assign a key to it. Give it some thought. I have the 4 way hat on my X45 throttle..the one activated by my pointing finger set as my padlock enemy ground/air and prev/next at the 12/6 and 3/9 O'clock positions. I used the 3/9 O'clock positions and assigned the same key I use for prev & next..only with an Alt switch on it...so now mode one on my X45 is largely my gunsight calibration.<UL TYPE=SQUARE>http://www.jodavidsmeyer.com/combat/bookstore/tuskegeebondposter.jpg (http://tuskegeeairmen.org/airmen/who.html)
<UL TYPE=SQUARE>vflyer@comcast.net
<UL TYPE=SQUARE>99thPursuit Squadron IL2 Forgotten Battles (http://www.geocities.com/rt_bearcat)
Nice gizmo, but grabbing a P-51C bubble top will make you an ace quicker. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/59.gif

Yeah but the D has the 6 50s..... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif Besides... I dont have to be an Ace... I want to have fun and learn the planes as much as I can within the limits of the sim.... which seem to get smaller and smaller almost daily.
