Hey I was playing around today with my settings. I was trying to make the rudder work as buttons but failed misably. So I DL adlabs profile thinking maybey he did, and I could follow by example. Well he didn't but the funny thing was he had his radiator and flaps set like do.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

But I fooled with the flaps on one of the rotaries. Do any of you do that? Flaps on the rotaries, I notice it doesn't give you the hud saying their position so I reset it back on the front hat of throttle. If you use them on the rotaries just how long does it take you to get proficient with them. (I know thats open ended question) I fly cockpit only but I fail to see a flaps indicator, Can someone line me out here. I did notice you can set them any setting you want less and more than the button method. Some of the aircraft don't have combat flaps and some with combat flaps I feel give it too much. Just thinking out load here.

I had flaps on my racing pedals for a short while. I think you could do great things if you got used to it, but it felt too much like cheating when flying the I-16 and one or two others with only on/off flaps.

I seldom fly the 16 but I see your point. So I might of just opened up the next trim on the slider debate if we find out many are using it that way. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I'll have to try it, swap my rotary to flaps (currently flaps are on the 'rudder bar') but I don't think it will stay there for long. My favourite oopsy is to forget flaps are extended until I see the 'Flaps Jammed' message http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

I have a homemade set of rotaries (4) were I have placed the 3 trimmers and the flaps. I works alright for me. To know how much have I lowered the flaps I just look at the rotary. You get to know very soon.

Now how did you do that I tried it but it left them down all the time, I figure it has something to do with banding but I'm at a loss. could banned it but failed to make it not keep them down.

Toad am I to understand that you have your flaps on a rotary and that enables you to actually set tyour flaps to settings between combat/takeoff/landing?

That's right Bearcat. I tried this a long while ago, just to see if it worked, and sure enough it did. I don't use it like that, since I'd rather have the rotaries avaliable for something else.

As for them being difficult to see where they are, I have stuck little pieces of tape on my rotary at the centered postion, and another in line with it on the throttle body. Now I can easily see where my trim settings are just by looking at how far the indicators are separated, and which way.

yes more than likely you can use a rotary switch for flaps just like if you had Ch Pro rudder pedals, you could assign the flaps to one of the foot pedals and you can adjust flaps just by pressing the pedal forward. the more you press the more flaps you apply and oince you release the pedal the flaps will retract.

ch pro pedals have worked wonders for me as far as flap settings and i also use the left foot pedal as a brake for landing.

Currently I've got flaps on my mousewheel. Good - position them anywhere you like. Bad - hard to know where your flaps are set, unless you can see them, or a decent indicator. Seems to work out ok though. If in doubt I spin all the flap fully up and then apply what I need.

Has anyone found a good use for their rocker rudder and the other other pedal axis? Like most, both of my dials are set to trim and one pedal for braking.

I've banded the rudder bar and use it to set rudder trim. (One wheel used for prop pitch). I don't like it much though. A wheel would be better.

My second toe brake languishes unused. I can't think of a sensible use for it.

This what i have in a Word document. http://home.mchsi.com/~131st___vfw/Toads_X-45.doc
My pedals are right side for brakes I have yet to configure anything for the left side. Not sure how since the CH rudders are not using any software other than windows to drive them. As far as banding I guess I need to have someones profile to see how to set it up. I'm missing something here to leave a band dead or something to kill the signal.
