Im suggestion these things for the addons in the future mabey. Anyway, I just got done playing European Air War, and I noticed with the Mustangs and the FW190-A4, that you can select what guns you want to fire, like with the Mustangs you can choose to fire just 2 .50's, or you can choose to fire 4 50's when in the D version. And with the 190, you can choose to fire just the mg's instead of having to fire the MG FF's with it like in FB. And I noticed in both cockpits of the 190 in both games you see the selector switches underneath the ammo gauges. Im stated this because, It was an observation, and if it was true that these planes can select what guns they fired. Because when I get to fly the P-51's in the next versions I dont want to have to fire my 4 or 6 mg's all at ounce when im doing ground attacks on soft targets. or having to waste my MG FF's on ground targets or weak armor fighter planes, while I can always just use my MG 17's on it, if they are going to improve on the damage of the MG's I would just use the MG's and save the MG FF's on a better target. I just hope the FB team takes notice of this too, if it was really like this.

It considers them both one thing, so they both fire. So thats thats a no on selecting between the two, and im not talking about the cannons, im talking about the in wing guns that fire with the MG's that are located on top of the engine of the FW190.

Huh.. Ok, I thought you were talking about the P51D and how you plan to use it.. And I was just noting that the P47 allows you to do just that now... So i only assumed they will follow suit when the P51 comes out?

Yea, thats why I specified what planes, it was only the Mustangs and the FW190 in EAW.

I would like to have a button like EAW that cycles through guns, that way I wouldn't have to waste my cannon ammo when strafing soft targets in my 190A.

Well there's a damn good reason for the way it is - in the real plane one button fires the MG and inboard cannon together and one just the wing guns.

You want it to be less realistic?

Please provide evidence that it did fire both guns, why does a game as relistic as EAW make that up. what are those little buttons on the bottom of the ammo gauges in the 190, I already told you what I think they are, what do you think they are?

When you fire the weapons on the Fw-190, you must fire either the MG 17(MG 131)/MG151 (above and behind the engine, and in the wing root, respectively) , or the MG/FF (midway through the wing, later replaced by MG 151 or Mk 108; commonly removed to reduce weight and increase manuverability). Read a book about the Fw-190. I reccomend "Focke Wulf 190 A, F, and G In Action."

The MG/FF and sometimes the MG17 were removed on fighter bombers/long range "JABO" to reduce weight.

It was not possible to selectively fire each pair of guns. You either had to fire the 2xMG17 (or MG131) and 2xMG151/20 or the MG/FF.

Dependant on the model of the Fw-190, the four white "bars" you see in the cockpit either counted the MG17(MG131) and MG151/20 or only the MG151/20 and mid wing firearms (either Mk108, MG151/20, I don't believe ammunition was counted for the MG/FF cannons on early Fw-190s (through A-5)). A spring tension system was used to determin the remaining amount of ammunition. Each "tick" mark represents 100 rounds of ammunition on the spring tension system.

Further to Ian's reply, the 'A' button on the KG13B control column fires the inboard weapons while the 'B1' button is for the outboard weapons.(Fw190A-8) The 'B1' button is the one on the top of the column.

The 'B2' button, mounted on the left side of the column, is for bomb release and firing the 21cm rockets.

In addition to CARBONFREEZE's post, it is mentioned in the Fw 190 A-5/U10 (the prototype for the A-6) armament manaul that the guns are fired as CF describes them.

They are lights that come on when you run out of MG ammunition. Either MG17 or MG131.

It is not possible to fire only the MG17(MG131) or MG151 seperately, unless you change the wiring or remove one set of guns.

Origionally the Fw-190s fired either the MG151 (press the cannon button) or the MG17/MG131 un-syncronized. This error was corrected when it was brought to Oleg's attention that the firing system was incorrectly modeled. You had to fire both pairs of weapons on the center section of the aircraft.

I think the "hollywood" muzzle flashes in this game are rediculous. Not even Browning .50 caliber HMGs have a muzzle flash that is visible during the day, but the muzzle blast is rather large. Fuselage mounted MG/cannons should not have a muzzle flash above ~200 kph. Recoil of machine guns (browning .50 cals wont push a P-40 backwards across the taxiway if fired on the ground.)

The ability to set tracer and ball ammunition ammounts in the magazine of an aircraft would be a nice feature (ie, you could set it to fire all tracers, none, or to fire only tracers when your ammunition ammount reached a certain percentage of the total ammount.)
