Mine runs FB in Perfect Mode without any problems in 1280x960 32bit color http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Now Lock On, that´s something else http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

My system:
AMD AthlonXP 3200+ @2,2Ghz.
1024Mb ram DDR400 in dual channel mode.
DFI NFII Ultra400 mobo
ATI All-In-Wonder 9700pro.
Dual 60Gb Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 HDs in ATA133 mode.
etc...

As you can see, nothing out of the ordinarie nor any overclocking done, yet FB runs in Perfect Mode "perfectly" http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Indeed, it´s actually slower than Northwood Pentium 4s, but it servers Intel to get familiar with the 90nm process, hence they´ll be able to gradually increase clock frecuencies way past 5Ghz, while Northwood is reaching its theoretical limit. Anyways, AMD should better get to work in that 90nm process soon so they don´t get left behind by Intel. 64bit proccesing won´t stay and edge for AMD for too long now.

Alot of talk of 4000 processors by the end of the year.
Found this at J&N computers:
Sometime later in the year, we're expecting October or November, the new Pentium-4 socket will arrive and the current Intel Socket 478 will be phased out. That new socket Prescott CPU will include offerings (supposedly) to 5.0Ghz. The current socket 478 technology, even with the Prescott core, will max out at 3.6. We expect to see boards with Socket 478 last through 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2005

Wonder what is needed to run BoB?
I thought my 1.66 was fast.

ATI 9700XT 256 megs RAM

1200X1600 res 32 bit perfect mode
60 fps average, often higher average, on line.

It's nice, very fast and stable.
Low over huge cities it never dropps below 20fps.

I'll let you know how crap it is soon http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif It's very scalable and once over the 3.6 limit it tends to perform much better than most. My 2.4C is OC'd at 3.6 ghz now. I should be able to OC the prescott over 4.0 easily if it works as said. If not then I have a nice stock processor for my server http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I have a second computer, it's a 2.4 Celeron that
runs at 3.2 all day and night, It's rock stable
and has been running that way for 10 months+.

I ran comparisons with a P-4 2.26 Northwood
and the Celeron clocked at 2.4, 3.2 and 3.49.
The 2.26 smoked the Celeron on all points.
The 2.26 was not overclocked.
A Celeron at 3.2 is roughly the same as a 1.6 P-4.

My old 3.06 P-4 was faster than the 2.26 but
the real life performance is similar.

I will baseline the new P-4 3.2 Extreme this weekend.
it should be interesting.

By the way, i rated raw CPU performance with Bryce rendering.
I also tested performance with a ATI RADEON 9700 PRO
in both computers, the FPS was similar until
you got low over the cities. The P-4 SMOKED
the Celeron BADLY at that point, by about 13-2.

Sinct the P-4 3.2 Extreme runs at 20fps low over
the same city it seems it should do well in the
comparison.

By the way, the Celeron at 3.2 is only 1.4 times
faster than my Athalon800.

I love celerons, but never for gaming.
