i still seem to have a huge fps hit when i turn on the mirror, which is annoying as i think it would be pretty useful

Hey,

Then i have found a real bug with the mirror.

When you are flying at the blue side so the enemy
has the red icons.

When the enemy is behind you its red but when you
look into the mirror its blue.

When you don`t know this it costs your life.

As we all know, the Soviet Union had too many fighter pilots during WW2. So Stalin's scientists came up with a brillient way to solve this problem. They would make some of their pilots fly British made Hurricanes. The Hurricane was an uber flying coffin. It was designed to maximize pilot kills by providing nothing but fabric and a few wooden spars around the cockpit. This setup prevented the pilot from escaping easily while at the same time not interfering with enemy bullets and shrapnel trying to pass through it. The rest of the Hurricanes structure was designed to ricochet bullets and shrapnel into the cockpit. And thanks to the cockpits superb design, all of them would pass through the cockpit and the pilot inside with little difficulty. Of course the Hurricane's designers didn't stop there. In order for the Hurricane to become a flying coffin, they had to make it easy to shoot. They did this by making the Hurricane the slowest monoplane fighter in use at the time and even gave it a very bulky shape so that it would be easy to spot and hit. The final feature of the Hurricane was its ability to bury or cremate itself. And because it was made of biodegradable materials, the Hurricane was environmentally friendly after it buried itself. Because of these brillient features, the Hurricane was a perfect flying coffin and helped the Soviets solve the pilot surplus they were suffering.

There is a bug with the Hurricane and P-40 mirrors.

If you try the mirror in the P-47, there is little to any drop in FPS. This is how the other mirrors should work as well.

This was noted by beta testers long before the game was released, but it was not fixed. So unfortunately you are not the first to find it /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Then on the second day, it was made bug free, and He saw that it was good.

yes there are bugs, lots of em, worst ones I found were wasps and bees, they seem to make a hell of a mess of the windscreen, but must admit i didn't tend to get many squashed on the mirrors, i heard the last thing that went through there minds when the squashed up on the windscreens were their asses hehehehe/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif can i say that word?/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Weird I know but here's something constructive in a KJ2k thread:

I think that this is a known bug with the mirrors and S3TC texture compression. Don't fly planes with mirrors all too often but I think I had some success by disabling S3TC compression using the Hurri mirrors.

Turn off STC3 compression. The compression only works correctly with the mirror on the P-47. Besides if you have a 128MB video card there isn't any noticable performance gain. And I can notice excessive banding in OpenGL with STC3 turned on.
